I have not been in that situation before, but the first thing that comes to mind is using large roles of weed restrictor material, that is already designed to block out the sun. AEROCOMPACT sells 6' and 12' rolls that can be clamped to the modules on one end and rolled out over the panels like carpet. Quick, easy, and reusable.
Adds more complexity than is necessary. That would have been 12 extra disconnects on this inverter, and by the time you add that many to all the inverters on this site, it would have been hundreds of additional disconnects, which widens the scope for inspections and failure. It IS code that there are disconnects (which are the MC4 connectors) at every single panel, but they aren't required to handle load.
Thanks for informative video. Through you current experience applying would be key on the next application, simply to remove it afterwards. As said it were developed to safely de energize PV modules during emergencies for First Responders. So that they would be able to safely do what they have to do, saving lifes and properties. A simple solution they can trust without trying to understand how to do it and how to make sure it is de energized. AC hotsticks helps them to make sure AC is down, AC hotsticks works on Frequency by AC current. DC does not have a frequency therefore very difficult to detect.
In an Emergency scenario I could see why you would use this product, but other than that I would be pissed off uf you used this in a Servicing Scenario!! What a freaking mess!!

Thanks for the warning video.
WILL DEFINITELY STEER CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT. 😉
💯% agree!!
Wow a master disconnect off the panels before the inverter I would have thought be code and just smart.

A mom or dad saw their kid playing with Elmer's glue, added color and had a thought. Now you have many thoughts.

Another thing PVStop are very focused on is the training it provide for the First Responders.
What if you just use some cheap wire cutters that you're willing to sacrifice per string to disconnect the power?
What a mess!

@@GrinDiesel1969 this is why you have the UA-camr try it so you don't have to 😉
