I got stuck in the hospital for three days. I asked to not be on their "consistent carbohydrate" diet, but they tried feeding me a high carb meal anyway. I turned it down; figured it was a good opportunity to fast rather than eat that junk.
Result: They quickly changed my order to allow me to order whatever I wanted. Was hard to get quality fats from the kitchen, but otherwise it worked out OK.
I feel sorry for patients who don't know enough to do what I did.

Samething happened to me. I asked the doctor to give me a keto diet, instead he gave me a cadio diet. I ordered my own food from the kitchen and lost 5 lbs on discharge. I was only in the hospital for 5 days. Sometimes, we have to advocate for ourselves. Great for you and I. 👍 👌

When i first got diagnosed 4 years ago with CHF (25% EF) I started water fasting for 72 hours a week every week. i lost 150 lbs and got my life back. fasting increases ketones. this is stellar news. My heart rate went from 110 resting down to 68.

Promising news for some for sure, or you could go on the proper human diet (carnivore) and solve the problem. Heart failure person here. Done it…150lbs weight loss at 64 and I have my life back. Trust me it was worth every fatty prime rib I ate.

I have been diagnosed with heart failure, AFib, and cardiomyopathy due to a leaky valve. On top of that, in 2019 I was diagnosed with fatty liver, NASH and F3-F4 fibrosis. I was obese and very weak. Going to the grocery store was beginning to be a challenge. I went on a keto diet to deal with the liver disease, lost 60 pounds, began exercising and actually improved my ejection fraction from 35-40 to 40-45. My energy is restored although I don't have the stamina I did when I was younger, still, I walk a couple of miles do resistance training and am adding muscle. I feel better than I have in decades. Now I'm thinking the keto diet was responsible for the heart improvement along with the weight loss. Oh, and a recent fibroscan showed my liver to now be NORMAL.

... and most likely, the high carb diet causes these types of health problems.

I went through almost the same thing. My post is above you, I believe. I lost 150lbs on Keto. My liver has reversed, but I needed an aortic valve replaced due to a congenital heart defect. Nothing to do with weight or the liver. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼

Carbs? Not even complex carbs mostly sugar and you should see what the children receive in school lunch/breakfast program?!
Granddaughter took me to breakfast at school, fortunately I brought my bulletproof coffee and was able to politely play with Otis Spunkmeyer muffin, sweet yogurt parfait with fruit in sugar sauce and granola, low fat milk, choice of grape, oj or apple juice! SUGAR, sugar, sugar YUCK

So heart failure is caused by insulin resistance of the heart, the same way Alzheimer's is caused by insulin resistance of the brain?

So insightful.supplementing mega doses of B1 would then be helpful too.
80% of the bodies B1 is in the mitochondria. B1 is necessary to utilize all energy. Glucose, fats, and proteins.
Carbohydrates deplete B1 causing insulin resistance and mitochondria dysfunction.

I have noticed that when my wife has been fasting, and has a ketone level of 1.5mmol/L or more her oxygen saturation, measured with a pulse oximeter, is frequently 100%, when mine is about 96%, not having fasted.
I am sure that this is one part of the beneficial effects of ketosis.

I can remember her saying (not sure if book or video) that she was in a training session for reps and that the information provided about the drug said that one of the side effects might cause something and she asked about it and the response was, well we will make a drug to for that.

I have also heard (not sure where) that if a person drops out of a trial due to a bad reaction that the data is not included in the trial data _unless_ that person had to go to hospital.

Its all about money..that is it....the same happened when covid hit the scene...governments went nuts trying to development a vaccine..not to help the population but rather keep people in work so they would continue to work and pay taxes. What was realised is how nature and the environment blossomed. The air was cleaner...the rivers and streams were full of life again..pollution was significantly reduced and fauna plus flora were thriving. Money will kill us all in the end.

I have lost 150lbs on Keto over the last 4 years. I went from 321lbs to 170lbs at 61 years of age now. Non-drinker. Non-smoker. I was also diagnosed with a severe fatty liver w/fibrosis 4 years ago, along with Hemochromatosis. To add to my story - my Blood Pressure fell to 90/40 this past December. I was diagnosed with a severely regurgitating Aortic Valve and having severe Aortic insufficiency. I had valve replacement surgery on April 8, 2022 - so, it’s only been about 6-7 weeks post surgery now. I also had an AtriClip put on my left atrium appendage to prevent AFIB & possible blood clots. The Doctors were amazed all through this process that because I ate very strict Keto - I cook all my own meals from scratch - that I do not hold any fluids and I was taken off Lasix about 3 days after coming home. The side effects of Lasix were horrible. My BP is normal now. My pulse is normal now. I still lack stamina, but I’m trying to go on short walks every other day. My sternum pain is getting better. Due to a full sternotomy my sternum pain was off the charts at first, but I have 3 acquaintances that have had full sternotomies and they say it doesn’t fully heal for about a year. But, Keto has definitely helped my pre-surgery & post-surgery health. I never held fluids. And I cannot believe the garbage they serve in the hospital and call it a “Cardiac Diet”. Tons of carbs and sodium. I asked for the same thing every day - scrambled eggs for breakfast, and for dinner grilled chicken breast with green beans, water, no dessert.

Very interesting! The old tale that in high intensity workouts are not possible with ketones because the ETS cannot quickly convert ketones to ATP. But even if this is true, is the compensating factor greater cardiovascular output? It maybe so.

  • @oregomm

I'd like to know the hypothesis for WHY and HOW this works. Are the heart cell mitochondria unable to process glucose so the ketones give them a fuel source they can use (like the proposed mechanism for how ketones can help dementia)?

    • @alsaunders7805
      @alsaunders7805 2 роки тому +1

I have also read that ketones are simply a more efficient fuel than glucose. They charge/recharge more ATP by an order of magnitude or more than glucose. I don't remember the exact numbers. That is the true measure of energy provided by a macronutrient, calories are an approximation.
      🤓🍻

I was diagnosed in 2020 with afib /hf and my GP sent me to the hospital. I had gained 10 pounds in 3 days and was terrified.
I was put on a water fast for 3 days and my fast was broken with boiled eggs.
Since I have done keto and intermittent fasting, for years, I made no requests for food and just went with the flow.
Your right about the hospital food, but I was still able to skirt the carbage they threw at me.
I'm still doing keto and fasting. I wonder if straight up ketone supplements would be of benefit in addition to what I'm doing.
I got a pacemaker last fall and am doing well.
I'd enjoy participating in their research...It would be fascinating.

i have cancer. treating it all year naturally but due to a toxin, i needed to redirect to the cancer area more so i agreed to take one round of chemo/Ra. One round really messed my system up too. up and down labs including 3rd high reading for heart failure. I am not waiting until i have heart failure to do something about it. So learning what I should take also to help it along with diet tweaks. In time, I am sure gerson cancer diet or ketone diet will help change such but I don't think I am against time so might try this, with more investigation of course to my issues. :) clearly many walking around with issues do not have 10-20 yrs for FDA and modern medicine to catch up before they change anything in real root preventive care on anything... Thank you for taking the time to share with us all. Appreciate!
