idk if anyone has mentioned this but the animation and encounter with Hook is a direct reference to Pokemon Gold/Silver, where the player, after beating 16 gym leaders and 8 elite 4 members, go up to Mt. Silver in the Kanto region. Eventually, you can find the previous protagonist (Red) from the very first pokemon game at the peak of the mountain, and you battle him. Pokemon released an animation of Ash running toward Red. So basically Hook is a monster of a player/trainer
I love these types of videos - aurum alley's hustle and bustle, and now aetherium wars event coverage video - I know I'm in for three hours of fun heheh
About keeping the piggy: if you keep it, you actually go through with it and asta seems pretty happy about it (in the end everyone were happier with that ending compared to yours) and you can use it in those other mini battles with random npcs and characters. And you probably just griefd because the piggy was a really good healer and it might be a struggle to win those fights without the piggy
If you keep the pig they will appear in express right beside dan heng room and you can interact with it, idk if you give them back is it the same or not tho
the trotter is just gonna escape from asta and will show up at the same places if you chose to keep it. Basically, we get a new buddy on board either way.
Could be late but you can go to the second carriage of the train AND the front of the train in the Supply Zone when visiting Herta Space Station to still find the Trotter. Since you returned the Trotter to Asta, you get extra dialogue lines compared to keeping it. Edit: The choice doesn't really matter since you can meet the Trotter. Only difference is the extra dialogue lines.
Ah just a hint, unless you’ve noticed it already of course, if you go back to the area by the venue with all the screens there’s one of those memory bubbles with some interesting info (unless it’s disappeared by now that is)
I don't know what happens if you don't keep Bubbles, but I did and now I can see them in the Astral Express. I'd imagine you're able to se them in Herta Space Station if you don't keep him.

I somehow made my bubbles nearly immortal, I think through res and autoheal or something. I had a few battles where only bubbles survived and he survived every attack and veeery slowly killed the enemies.

They were the NVP of my team, i never swaped them out and i would have lost so many batles without them
