I'm from and grew up in Mays Landing and during my teenage yrs (early 2000s) Hamilton mall was tha place to b, any given night esp weekends would be packed.. sad to see that place fall 😔
I was there a couple weeks ago and thought to myself how sad it looks inside with nobody around. It won't be around much longer I give it 3 yrs. This mall use to be packed with ppl. Smh
Grew up in Vineland/Millville in the 80s/90s, and believe it or not, us Cumberland County kids thought the Hamilton Mall was "the real mall" and would come there to eat/hang out. I remember going on double dates with my friend there in '96. Got married, moved to Glassboro, and I noticed that while Hamilton died, the Deptford Mall is still kicking. Well, it was crowded before Covid. But yeah, Hamilton? Used to be the spot. Space Port arcade, the old EBX game store.
Same here! I grew up in the 80's 90's too and the Hamilton Mall to me was like the big time mall! Whenever my parents said we were going to the Hamilton Mall Id get so excited! This vid is so sad. This was 11 months ago before this covid shit. I cant imagine how its doing now. I think I may go this weekend and check it out. Im only like 20 min away.
@Lil Jawa It was a more PC gaming focused variant of Electronic's Boutique. They were downstairs while EB was upstairs. Matter of fact, I bought the first Witcher game there on a whim, and got the collector's edition of Arena (First Elder Scrolls game) there as well.
@Lil Jawa EB and Gamestop actually merged eventually under one company. In truth, Gamestop was formerly Software etc/babbages (I worked in it for a year in the late 90s) and EB/EBX was I think based in Canada, though that might be wrong.
It was a big deal when i was in High School 1998-2002. All the Oak Crest and Atlantic city hoodlums would be walking around acting tough. The arcade, cvs & gamestop was the typical afternoon.
sadly, i must agree it is going downhill FAST up til about 7 years ago,it was great esp since you could pop in some coins in AC slots, get a fast hoagie and do shopping on your way home without the macy' it would be closed tomorrow
