In 1968, while I was in Primary Helicopter Training at Ft Walters, Texas, there were very similar looking rotary wing aircraft that were called TH-55’s, made by Hughes Aircraft. While I trained in the Bell 0H-13’s, we used to kid around with the trainees learning to pilot the TH-55s, and called them “little bumblebees” because of the buzzing sound they made. ;-)

The rotor mixer of this helicopter is an unautorized copy from the patented original design of Cicaré helicopters from Argentina.

Rotary's about the same as 2 stroke, good hp to weight ratio, bad fuel consumption and emissions

The rotary engine is the worst engine ever developed in terms of power, fuel consumption and emissions.
They don't build many rotaries any more because of that.
On the other hand, they're pretty good compared to steam engines :)
But they make a GREAT engine to use in aircraft. But they do suck for street use.
