People really forgot Kendrick cooked Cole on 4 different songs They Ready, Temptations, Shook the World, Black Friday. Mr.Morale wasn't meat to be lyrically dense but overall Kendrick is the better lyricist
Its that kendrick doesnt focus on being a straight forward rapper. Kendrick took the Nas approach. Nas isnt considered the best lyricist for being a straigh forward rapper with verses like verbal intercourse. Thats not his approach to music anymore. But if he did im sure he would cook cole everytime
Lmao Cole's prime is better than Kendrick's prime and it's not even close, Cole has arguably outrapped both daylyt and ab soul and Kendrick isn't touching them lyrically, nothing Kendrick has rapped has ever reached the level of Cole's verse on JP caddy or pi
J Cole is a quintessential east coast rapper. I’d expect any New Yorker to have him as the top lyricist out of the 3. I appreciate the logical approach but the bias is subconscious. He was fairer than most tho.

Kendrick might be taking that best entertainer spot after the Super Bowl. What he did in just a small part of Dre’s Super Bowl is a better performance than Drake prolly has ever done.

Kendrick is easily the most ceeative out of the big 3. Cole to me is the best rapper and storyteller. I love all of Cole's music and telate to him the most. I was a smart kid that wanted to be nice and friendly but had to put on the mask of a tough exterior to survive in a harsh environment. But I think where Cole loses sometimes is the sound with his projects. And i think its because he has such a big hand on his production. You gotta realize Kanye is a huge influence on Cole. As a Rapper one of the separators for Kanye was that he was one of the best rappers but ALSO one of the best producers ever. Cole kinda wants that too. But he's nowhere near the level of producer that he is a rapper. (In my opinion). He's solid though. He made Kendrick's Hiipower. But if Cole just collabed with the biggest and best producers on his projects people would look at him differently. Thats why people love his features.
As someone who isnt the biggest Cole fan (I dont hate him I just never clicked with most of his music) i fully agree that Cole is the strongest when it comes to technical proficient lyricism even over Kendrick (who I have at number one). My problem with Cole is that it he isnt as good as telling stories or as strong at messaging even with his skill. Kendrick's strength is that he can tell and put the listener in the story he's tryna tell. You listen to GKMC and you can put yourself in his mind with that album. I think back to "Meet the Grahams" which is not technically from a skill point of view better song than anything from Cole, its pretty simple as far a lyricism is concerned but the strength of a that track is in the raw emotional fear the song conveys from the beat selections, to the narrative he centers the lyrics around, to his vocals flourishes especially near the end. Kendrick excels over Cole when it comes to atmosphere, conceptualization, and story telling. However I think if you arent interested in the those stories you wont click with Kendrick which is why i see such polarization on who likes or dislikes him.
I think that’s true for the casual listener yes but if you didn’t listen to the albums or mixtapes all the way through then how would you know. J Cole is definitely a good story teller that’s how Friday Night Lights blew up. Being digestible is an actual talent that’s why I never take anything away from Jay Z because his goal was to make street rap digestible and he accomplished that goal while spreading the inside knowledge. I also think Drake is underrated in writing ability because he can flow. Kendrick is the most prolific lyrical artist but that doesn’t mean others don’t have the ability to match that level.
The thing is that Kendrick can easily do what Cole is doing right now..but i know damn well that Cole cannot do what Kendrick does..simple as that..Kendrick is natural with it..Cole put in the hours

Nah, I'm sorry, we need to stop this fantasy football view of hip hop, with people counting "stats" like they are some objective measure. @@abbamalami9171 you contradicting yourself bro lol. If you need easily digestable lyrics to get the point of them then you the slow one. That argument dismisses depth completely.
Y’all act like he the first great lyricist ,we had a bunch that have way better music, stop it. Nobody like that alien voice shit
Kdot the goat
Cole is a1 and Kenny is a2 in lyricism. Kdot is the better artist, and entertainer. Cole and drake can't compete with dot when it come to artistical vision record wise, or concert wise. Before anyone say anything, tell me which artist had the best album concept, and which artist has the best concert performances?
Kendrick is the best rapper and lyricist to me. His weakness is when he tries to be artistic.
Section 80 was so fire
What are your thoughts on his last album?
Too overly artistic for me unlike GKMC.
I still love some songs on it.
United in Grief is up there with Wesley Theory as an opening track.
Father time is a top 5 Kendrick song for me because it spoke to my relationship with my father.
@@BeerChugger yeah I'd agree with that assessment.
J. Cole To This Day Is My Favorite Current Rapper, Drake And I Relate Since We Are Both Scorpios And Kendrick Lamar Is By Far The Best Artist......So Yes I Agree With The Young OG/Prodigy/Legend/Jadakiss In Jaewon! Jadakiss Really Taught Him Well No Question!!
That was phenomenal I agree with almost all of that
100% valid. Always thought this
The proof is listen to Cole from the time he dropped to now. Kendrick and both have improved with their rap abilities but low key Cole been nice since he dropped. Only refining his abilities not necessarily developing them. He’s like a prodigy of rap imo
Wtf this is so wrong crazy
@@davidcrescencio4483 don’t see how when comparing the warm up / Friday night lights to so far gone, or section 80. Neither one of those came close to how Cole was rapping already. But drake and Kendrick have since closed the gap.
Nah bro he right j cole on Friday night lights is a different beast and he only gotten better
Kendrick checks all the boxes….theres nothing Kenny can’t do…..
As a day 1 Kendrick fan only people who haven’t listened to Kendrick’s full catalog says he not as lyrical. Is Jcole rapping the best right now definitely, but go listen to “Fight the feeling” with Mac miller or “Look over your shoulder” with Busta rhymes and tell me if Jcole ever reached that level, this is his prime he was right but he has yet to reach Kendrick’s prime from 2016-2021…
People really forgot Kendrick cooked Cole on 4 different songs They Ready, Temptations, Shook the World, Black Friday.
@@Chill_Brillthat was when Cole was still evolving, today Kendrick isn't touching Cole and that's a fact, argue with your keyboard

Good analysis by Jae'Won. I can definitely see him being an executive producer on someone's project.

All facts. Glad he joined the jbp.
This kid is a student of the game. Kudos to Kiss.
Kendrick is the best everything
J Cole is a quintessential east coast rapper. I’d expect any New Yorker to have him as the top lyricist out of the 3. I appreciate the logical approach but the bias is subconscious. He was fairer than most tho.
Spot on . Jae’Won knows ball .
He’s speaking facts
I’m convinced not many people actually sat down and listened to Mr Morale. Incredible, incredible album.
It just wasn’t good bro
It's a 1 and done album like tpab, good message but hard to listen too
I’m a big kdot fan. Listened to that album once and was disappointed. But…I kept hearing Charlemagne say Mr morale and 4:44 will go down as the greatest hip hop albums ever. I would think to myself this dude is tripping. Over Christmas I was like let me take my time and actually listen to this album, and my god…haven’t been able to put it down ever since. The emotions that come out of me when I listen to that album, I can’t explain. I just want to get on my knees and give my confessions to God. Father Time should be played, discussed and analyzed in every college class. If you have a father, don’t have a father, are a father or hope to be a father…you should have that song in rotation. A modern masterpiece of an Album.

Only disagreement for me is Cole being the best lyricist. That’s dot to me but I think people feel this way because Kendrick’s best attribute is storytelling and concepts versus just spitting BARS
or maybe he just doesn't spit better than cole and you are a glazer.

Straight facts
He was spot on on J Cole, Kendrick and Drake. That’s how I see them too
1000 percent agreed
On point I agree wit his perception
Kendrick is a high level lyricist and this dude was s speaker for his self
Probably meant to say j.cole is the best digestible lyricist. Which he is better than Drake and doesn't take as many risks as Kendrick even though we all know Kendrick can out rap the world but it's more of a who does what consistently
@@CoryJonesMusic kendrick ain't out rapping cole. nope. and please don't bring me no shit from 80 years ago. pi a plate of collard greens the ft with bia and so on kendrick has nothing close.

Correction, j cole is the better rapper, kendrick is a best artist, but drake is a better musician because of his ability to tap into multiple genres and come out with bornified hits and classics.

I like his breakdown and which is true
Some people say Klay Thompson has a better shooting form than Steph Curry, but we all know who the greatest shooter is.
so cole.
I have yet to hear a convincing argument that Cole is a better lyricist than Kendrick. That’s including this video.
Because he drops more, that's about it
People hear “whole clique/click getting slid on, you a mouse pad” and go crazy. Like that’s cool but that’s a punchline and not the main point of lyricism, it’s one of the branches .

Hes 100% correct his pops can't put together a classic album to save his life.
But he has tons of classic verses

When i heard black friday i dismissed cole since then I think at times he just has more catchy punchlines or he could be better at that but I cant really say he's the better lyricist overall. But he does actually go do freestyles which may be prewrittens but I'll give him some credit in the better rapper overall for that.
Unpopular opinion- Wale is a better lyricist than Cole, but Cole’s raps are easier to digest, yet Wale’s WordPlay is very witty & complex and goes over niggas heads
I think they were a lot closer before Cole elevated to where he is now. I would say after 2018 Cole ascended past the Wale comparison convo lyrically
The only nigga better than cole lyrically now is daylyt ,and it’s even still debatable.
Respect to Jae’won !!!
I agree but I’d say Drake is more popular but not more entertaining.
it's, it's, it's grippy...stop the cap 🤣😂

Look... I always considered cole one of the greatest rappers but... Hes not groundbreaking or a shaker, like hes good but i never got the hype of goat talk about him. Kendrick is extremely profound with sick flows he has great schemes and themes but he not as raw as i prefer. Drake makes music fo your mood and its relatable depending on what your going through highs lows stagnant women problems but its just a comcern with how much he actually writes.
Kendrick might be taking that best entertainer spot after the Super Bowl. What he did in just a small part of Dre’s Super Bowl is a better performance than Drake prolly has ever done.
I love Cole, but he’s not a better lyricist than Kendrick.
then yo usimply do not know what a lyricist is
I don't believe cole is the better lyricist of the 3, he's the one that has to focus on that aspect bc he can't do what the other 2 do.
That’s a crazy take j Cole more technical in his rapping than both of those dudes
@@troutwhisperer3886 bc that's what he chooses to focus on. Dot can focus on being technical and you get ignorance is bliss or rigamortis.
I can't name a jcole record where he's technical that is better than those 2 records. Not to say there isnt one, im sure you can educate me
Ive been saying this SAME EXACT THING for the past 3 years 💁🏾♂️💁🏾♂️💁🏾♂️
Nuff said
Kendrick is easily the most ceeative out of the big 3.
Esso gotta let it go lol. Cut the braids, stop the dye, let the grey come in.

Nah, I'm sorry, we need to stop this fantasy football view of hip hop, with people counting "stats" like they are some objective measure. Yes, it's a competitive artform, but songs and albums are not discreet competitions. Every rapper is not trying to do the same thing. You can't just put everyone's bars into a spreadsheet to calculate who the "best rapper" is. That's not how this works, and I'm tired of people treating hip hop like fantasy sports. This is such a gross oversimplification of what art is and how it works and why it's made.
