That’s what I call “A labor of Love”. Great job! Looks beautiful! Btw, this is the first machine I’ve ever seen on UA-cam that is built and setup in this format. I love it!
Def the first I've seen in this way. Now I plan to do my own take on it, using a Laptop motherboard for a lil more power. This is the kind of thing that may actually be cool to take to parties and gatherings. Only thing that could make this better, and I have no knowledge of how to do so, is when playing splitscreen games, if you could give each player their own view without the other, thatd be a masterpiece lol
Very nice job. Please please please use push sticks or blocks on your table saw. I cut the tip of my pointer finger off a few years ago. To this day I still swear the blade jumped out and grabbed it 😅. I was absolutely sure my finger was clear of the blade while I repositioned my hand.
Thanks! And I'm sorry that happened to you. Scary. I have a good fear of the saw. So much so that I won't use a non Sawstop one. I hope I never need that technology, but it makes me feel better.
Thanks! And yeah, I've been a little worried about it. It isn't used for long sessions but that is definitely in the back of my mind when we are playing.
Awesome idea man... but... my thinking is that old arcades where big in size but lacked with narrow control spaces.. you had to almost "kick" your oponent to have room for doing your things with your own controls... with joysticks, a large couch, a big tv, a pi and joysticks would do the trick for a minimalist build. I mean, this video really needs an arcade joystick build or an follow up using this on a very cramped space, like an corridor with a narrow table for example. I work at a school with a lot of narrow living areas, that build would be perfect for that spaces. It would be nice if you show how you use the things you do!
Awesome! I made two arcade sticks a while a go for retropie. Might steal your triangle idea, but instead of another screen I can store the sticks there.
Excellent build! Not an easy geometry, especially with wood. I love wood, but I'd prefer metal, so much easier to work with and way more forgiving. And I'm SO glad I bought a sixxer of 4GB Pi4s in early 2020 @ $49.99 per unit. Pis are endlessly useful. Prices now are outrageous....
That is very nice of you! I haven't done a commission of an arcade yet, but would be open to it. Do you know if you'd be looking for the cabinet or cabinet and electronics? You can reach me here: block.after.block.designs@gmail.com
Good eye! I did skip over that part. Because I went with the random budget monitors I found used, they didn't have speakers. I'm using some random old aux speakers at the moment that plug in to the headphone jack. If I was to build this again I would try to find monitors with speakers and drill a couple holes out in the face for the sound to come through.
They make external usb ports which you can use to connect to the rasberry instead of removing the side to excess the keyboard. Just a suggestion. Otherwise, sleek design and well made.
Interesting! I thought about making a similar thing, just not back to back and possibly with two not cloned display outputs, but was not sure how would retropie would handle that. and back then pi 3B+ had one hdmi out. I already sourced two samsung 3:4 monitors with broken stands too, and it all just gathering dust :) Now pi works as pihole and adsb reciever and I have not thught about just using my keyboard pi for hat. That one is for the cyberdeck project but turned out it is too big for the ammo case I had :)
I did minimal testing without the splitter and retropie but os information on the 2nd screen by default. It might be possible but you'd have to do some digging. And it sounds like you have the parts to build one... I'd like to see it
@@BlockAfterBlock actually do not have proper power supplies( 14-15v, a bit rare with decent amps to run an lcd ) for those monitors, and small chinese dcdc converter gets suspiciuosly hot!
Nice job man, I like the use of ply like that, makes me wonder how a purple translucent stain would look against all that wood texture :). Might be over kill but a double marquee on that would look pretty sweet too lol.
Oh yeah!? Would you mind sharing which ones so I can check it out? And I don't have any plans to do another full console I do have plans for this same Raspberry Pi 400. When Its not in the dual screen arcade I want to hook it up to my living room TV. But rather than the keyboard sitting on the media center I really want to build a wooden version of a retro console. I'm still in the planning stages, but I expect that to be in an upcoming video.
If you type "roms github" in to google you'll find a great source. The emulator is called retropie. It is an operating system for the raspberry pie. retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/
Todos comentarios positivos acerca del proyecto y tenias que salir con un comentario negativo sin argumentos. La ejecución interior no es tan profesional pero al final luce bien por fuera y cumple su propósito.
Might have been alright if it used a CRT monitor, or at the very least, a 4:3 LCD with scanlines enabled. I've never seen Street Fighter 2 look so bad.
I'm here for the Selen Tatsuki music playing during the montage. 🎵
It's always nice when the SO is interested in your work and supporting. I'm jealous.
It is very nice. She is super supportive.

peut être ajouter un refroidisseur dans le boitier , super job
I need this in my life!!!
Bro this would legit be great for venues. Imagine like 20 of these laid out.
Oooooh wish I had the tools
Great video!
Que projeto incrível!! Parabéns pela criatividade!!
This is cool man I'd love to see more of this
Thank you!
I definitely enjoyed this! It’d be great to see some more content like this!!
That is very nice of you. Thank you!
looks really nice, good job
This is super clean 💯
Looks incredible
You need a plywood arcade joystick to go with that setup!
Agreed! It's on the to do list

cool!
Great looking unit , I'm thinking of doing the same so good video to learn from.well done.
Nice lil build! Turned out beautiful!
Great execution, looks like a really comfortable system to use with someone
Great job and nice design! SUBBED!
And u combined 2 best controllers , snes and ps1
Agreed! I've never used the 8bitdo Pro 2 before this, but I am a big fan now.
Great start to the channel, subbed and liked. Very cool!
I really appreciate that. Thanks!
Cool project!
Thanks!
Loved this. Great setup and video...
fantastic build, thanks for sharing
Without a doubt the best wood video I've seen -- Can't wait to see more. Very cool concept!
Wow! Thanks!
Great job. You may want to consider some active or passive ventilation to get some heat dissipation from inside the thick walled cabinet.
Thanks! And yeah, I've been a little worried about it. It isn't used for long sessions but that is definitely in the back of my mind when we are playing.
WOW! genial
"Make a moc-up" is a close second to "measure thrice, cut once" it's gotta be thrice for me. Very nice work!
Awesome video! Well done, Andrew!
Ficou lindo demais, se enviasse para o Brasil eu com certeza compraria. Parabéns
Awesome build. This would be great for some brothers to play games.
Thanks. And yes, absolutely. Face to face trash talking.
This was great! Can't wait to see what you come up with next
Thank you!
outstanding!
Thanks!

Yeah, that was smart. I've put off building this for a while but I caved and got the 400 keyboard.
Great Job! I think it's required a fan or bigger holes just to keep fresh the console and monitors.
Looks great. Some graphics with a laser cutter could really set that off though.
Thanks! A laser cutter is definitely on my Wishlist. CNC/Epoxy inlay is an option but I wanted to keep it simple. Maybe on the next one.
@@BlockAfterBlock A laser cutter is on all our wishlists! 🤣
nice

Thats a good idea. It would absolutely help with cable management. I may add that soon.
That's great advice! I used it in my Atari Fight Stick pedestal arcade build last year, simplifies cable mgmt.

8:23 what flavor of RetroPi did you use? It doesnt look like the default skin that RetroPi uses.
Nice build and concept.
Thanks! It is the normal RetroPie, but installed a different theme. I believe the one I'm using is called Magazine Madness.
Love this idea! I'll be making a single monitor version soon. What size diag. monitors were you using?
Thanks and good luck with your project! I used 19" monitors.
