i like how everyones standing there menacingly, looking like theyre about to kill you, while sanae's just there looking like she's about to give you a tutorial on how to play an obscure anime dating sim game.
I see it this way: The yellow eyes are the sadists who draw out the battle to inflict as much pain as possible. The red eyes are the psychos go for a quick yet painful kill. The green eyes are just the person who's had a bad day and would prefer to get this over with as quickly as possible.
Not to mention Sanae got Yellow Eyes in Mountain of Faith, and Reimu got Red Eyes in some games as well. Youmu is the only one whose eye's color doesn't match the games.
Just to elaborate on this: Sakuya wants you dead as soon as possible because she has a world to clean up and you're just another speck of dirt and grime staining it. She wants to be done with you as soon as possible so she can be done cleaning sooner... Reimu pulls out all the stops to take you down as quickly as possible, because she knows the longer she spends trying to kill you the sooner another incident is gonna pop up and ruin another good day. Sanae is just psychotic! She's the type that enjoys watching the life slowly drain from your eyes as she hurts you. If she could, she would drown all of her victims just so that she could enjoy their agony... Marisa isn't normally that evil, but something about you has pissed her off! She gets this feeling that you're underestimating her. So just to be ironic, she'll kill you using only her weakest attacks. That's right, she won't even use her signature master spark... you're just not worth the effort to charge it up. Oh and she won't let you land a single hit for the entire fight either! It's what you deserve for underestimating her... Then there's Youmu. She doesn't want to be here and she can sense that you don't want to be here either, but you're in her way so she has to fight. She would gladly just let you walk away after saying: "I don't want to fight you" and pretend like she didn't see anything if it meant she could just go back home and be done with this whole incident!
Reimu glares at you intensely, preparing to attack at any moment. Marisa stares mischievously, with a trickster's grin plastered on her face. Youmu isn't very keen on attacking you, but has to in order to survive. Sakuya watches you intently, waiting for the moment that she can dig her knives into your throat and cleave out your esophagus. Oh. And Sanae. She's Sanae.
