I don't care what anyone says. The 90's was the greatest decade in Rock and Roll history.

    • @wretchedknave5740

Indeed. We had some amazing rock 'n roll records. Nirvana - Nevermind, Bush - 16 Stone, Pearl Jam - Ten, Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness, Green Day - Dookie, Rancid - And Out Come the Wolves, Nofx - Ribbed, Bad Religion - Suffer, Blink 182 - Enema of the state, Social Distortion - Somewhere between heaven and hell.....I can go on all day. I would have to say the 70's and 90's were the greatest periods in rock n roll.

No it wasn’t! Depressing bands dressing like factory workers. Lyrics talking about depression and drug use. It took me a long time to come back to listen to 90’s bands. A very sad time for rock music.

They were so young when the original version came out. You can tell it’s a struggle to hit the same notes for the singer, as his natural voice has no doubt matured over the years. Still awesome!

I was going thru my first year of a terrible split-and trying to learn my new role as a "part-time" dad that year this music was coming on the radio. 2001. I wish that I could say that it all worked out. @eve6 and the music of 2000/2001 kept me alive kept me going to work. thank you for you're music. Oh, my son, Tyler was 6 when I moved away. And I never saw him again until his graduation. I have to say, music saved my life I made it to that miracle day...sorry, I never say much about this. dont know why i just did. must have needed to , bye

This is my absolute favorite song. I don't asign that title lightly, I listen to a ton of great music. This song just wormed its way into my soul, and became part of who I am. Maybe it's partly because of the 90's nostalgia, but I think it's actually because of the lyrical genius.

    I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
    Swallow my doubt
    Turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender heart in a blender
Watch it spin 'round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you
I burn, burn like a wicker cabinet
Chalk white and oh so frail
I see our time has gotten stale
The tick tock of the clock is painful
    All sane and logical
I want to tear it off the wall
I hear words in clips and phrases
I think sick like ginger ale
But my stomach turns and I exhale
    I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
    I would swallow my doubt
    Turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender heart in a blender
Watch it spin 'round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you
SoCal is where my mind states
But it's not my state of mind
I'm not as ugly sad as you
    Or am I origami
    Folded up and just pretend
Demented as the motives in your head
    I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
    I would swallow my doubt
    Turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender heart in a blender
Watch it spin 'round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you
I alone am the one you don't know you need
    Take heed feed your ego
Make me blind when your eyes close
Sink when you get close, tie me to the bedpost
I alone am the one you don't know you need
You don't know you need me
But make me blind when your eyes close
    Tie me to the bedpost
    I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds
The lack thereof would leave me empty inside
    Swallow my doubt
    Turn it inside out

I've probably drummed along to this version of this song ... a few hundred times. The percussionist's face while he's shaking those things if freakin' hysterical. I truly hope his demeanor was purposeful. If not, it's still highly comedic and appreciated. Thanks for this drumless version - I've really enjoyed (probably) ruining it with my own terrible translation of the actual song :)

I think the mood that is generated from this acoustic version fits the lyrics a lot better. Not saying the original is bad, in fact, the original is great too; it's just cool that they improved this particular song rather than butcher it trying to prove they're progressive musicians as does so many others.

Dude, never worry about whatever people think. My dad was transferred every 2 years or so by his company. I went to 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school,2 jr high schools and 2 high schools. There were numb nuts at every bus stop that wanted to take my head off or bully my soul. My dad, a WW2 vet,( I am 60 years old) told me "son you must never be afraid of anything". I fought my way from Albany, to Boston, to Pittsburgh and the only thing I regret 40 years later is that I didn't punch more of the little bast#rds.

Charles Gorillionaire acoustic bass just doesn't sound good though. That was just a good decision. If a guy played a song with on electric guitar but played it on a pedal with an acoustic effect, it would still be acoustic. Acoustic is just the guts of a song. And if you wanna get technical, that bass was sending notes bouncing off the walls making it acoustic. BTW they fucking killed it.
