I actually truly do agree with you, and I fully understand why you would think it, but... the way the music industry has been turned upside down and tossed around during the past 15-20 years, it is incredibly hard and almost impossible for superb talent like Jess's to break into the business these days.
There are exceptions of course... Billie Eilish, Pixie Lott, Jessie J. But there are a heck of a lot more who are struggling to get that 'big break'... Janet Devlin, Connie Talbot for example. It is unfair, but that is the way it is.
The basic reality is, being in a band first and launching a solo career of the back of it in a few years time (as Beyoncé and Harry Styles have done) is a tried and tested (and often the best) route to achieving an enduring solo career.
And Jess is still 17. There is plenty of time for her to become a solo artiste.
