  • Darrin O'Brien was a high school from Toronto dropout with little or no musical experience when he recorded Informer. A song that would become a world-wide smash hit. He shocked the entire planet with his flawless patois and toasting talents despite never setting foot on Jamaica and would go on to become a Dancehall great

Briefly dated a girl who grew up in the same housing projects as Snow, he was very much for real. Actually there was a few white reggae artists and musicians in Toronto in that era. There was artists like Whitey Don, Casper and Friendly Man. And then there was keyboard player / producer Dubmatix and saxophonist I-Sax. All a byproduct of Jamaican migration to Toronto in the 60s and 70s.

I have lyrics galore like snow, but never got the chance to blow and show what I can do, so here is just a small sample for you. Deadicated to every one around the world, man, woman, boy and girl. Reggae is the choice of those who seek good music, so uplift and cherish it and never abuse it. Reggae Appreciation is the peoples choice, so I bring this meeasge to you with word, sound power.lyrics and my voice. I wish nothing but peace and blessings to all of you. This was part one,let me know if you want a part two.

I know many people who discover dancehall with snow. He cut some flack at the time but he is genuine. Just as genuine or more than the campbel brothers.

I remember hearing back in high school that when he played in Houston, TX he was booed offstage and his singing continued without him moving his lips, thus he was lip-syncing. I'm not sure if that's true, but that's what everyone was saying. I have that Anything for You 12" and that Daddy Yankee Informer remake on my phone, but it's about a girl, not a run-in with the law. The lyrics in Spanish are completely different.

    this song was not dancehall
it's American, come on even collie(come around) was closer to dancehall than this
you gotta be able to hear the differences between the music
the accent doesn't make you a dance-hall artist
    Sean Paul
    Gyptian
    Elephant man
    Beenie Man
    do dance hall
    chronixx
    reggae is more
    bob marley
    Damian Marley
    they often go between genres
but it has a distinct sound
if you want white artist that do raggae or dancehall
    this is the worst one
million styles is better police in helicopter
dancehall is something you ... you can't be a Jamaican and not know this
this song is rap with a Caribbean twist

    • @resserection1
      @resserection1 Місяць тому

Yeah it doesn't even resemble Dancehall, but it unfortunately has tainted what a lot of people think dancehall is. It's just pop rap with faux patois lyrics
