- Darrin O'Brien was a high school from Toronto dropout with little or no musical experience when he recorded Informer. A song that would become a world-wide smash hit. He shocked the entire planet with his flawless patois and toasting talents despite never setting foot on Jamaica and would go on to become a Dancehall great
#reggae #informer #snow

Excellent stuff. A lot of info there. Had no idea bout the man himself. I remember when informer came out and it was Massive, especially here in Ireland, one of our own y'know.
Shaggy the US Soldier man got some neck giving em stick!!!! Hopefully now with this new info he'll get the respect he deserves......
Nice one!!!
Briefly dated a girl who grew up in the same housing projects as Snow, he was very much for real. Actually there was a few white reggae artists and musicians in Toronto in that era. There was artists like Whitey Don, Casper and Friendly Man. And then there was keyboard player / producer Dubmatix and saxophonist I-Sax. All a byproduct of Jamaican migration to Toronto in the 60s and 70s.
You're videos are always enjoyable and interesting. Thank you so much for sharing. I will always keep "liking " your videos.
Damn weren't joking, that was fast
Reggae unites, reggae is unity and reggae is the music you have to play in your community.
Struggle music
90% of reggae artists have some criminal history
Totally convinced the track Informer was from a Jamaican toaster, I was shocked out of my socks when I discovered Snow was a white dude from Canada
On the white reggae artists camp, Gentlemen would be am interesting video
Hmmm great suggestion 👍
I have lyrics galore like snow, but never got the chance to blow and show what I can do, so here is just a small sample for you. Deadicated to every one around the world, man, woman, boy and girl. Reggae is the choice of those who seek good music, so uplift and cherish it and never abuse it. Reggae Appreciation is the peoples choice, so I bring this meeasge to you with word, sound power.lyrics and my voice. I wish nothing but peace and blessings to all of you. This was part one,let me know if you want a part two.
Such is life ❤❤
Give thanks! ❤️💛💚
Never hear of this guy 😂❤
Thought this guy was corny when he came out, since I got to know his story on VladTv I surely changed my mind. #respect 👊
Great video 👍🏽
I know many people who discover dancehall with snow. He cut some flack at the time but he is genuine. Just as genuine or more than the campbel brothers.
I still think about what ol' Snow might be up to every now and then.
No reference to the "in living color" sketch ?
I never knew any of this lol 👏
Hi Snow❤
TORONTO DANCE HALL,REGGAE PIONEER #SNOW.
I remember hearing back in high school that when he played in Houston, TX he was booed offstage and his singing continued without him moving his lips, thus he was lip-syncing. I'm not sure if that's true, but that's what everyone was saying. I have that Anything for You 12" and that Daddy Yankee Informer remake on my phone, but it's about a girl, not a run-in with the law. The lyrics in Spanish are completely different.
Why does most raggae artists have criminal history?
Many rock artists should have one too, but they aren't policed as hard, now are they?
Do Free I
1 of the original WIGGA...🤣😂🤣
All bullshit, the first Eminem of dancehall
He’s not Irish if he was born in Canada, just saying.
this song was not dancehall
it's American, come on even collie(come around) was closer to dancehall than this
you gotta be able to hear the differences between the music
the accent doesn't make you a dance-hall artist
Sean Paul
Gyptian
Elephant man
Beenie Man
do dance hall
chronixx
reggae is more
bob marley
Damian Marley
they often go between genres
but it has a distinct sound
if you want white artist that do raggae or dancehall
this is the worst one
million styles is better police in helicopter
dancehall is something you ... you can't be a Jamaican and not know this
this song is rap with a Caribbean twist
Yeah it doesn't even resemble Dancehall, but it unfortunately has tainted what a lot of people think dancehall is. It's just pop rap with faux patois lyrics
He had more than one song.
Laughable.
that's dancehall not reggae my friend dancehall is the pop version of reggae authentic reggae is more akin to American rnb and dancehall the father of hip hop and reggaeton and afro beat
Great video 👍🏽
