My son Daniel started talking at 4 to 5 years old. It's start with the word mi means mommy and da means daddy. Then yes and no. Now he's 22 years old 3rd year college. One of the singers in our church too. God has a plan that makes us amazed sometimes. We just need to pray and trust him more.

Based on my experience as teacher working in children with autism, I saw some sign that needs to attend to. Circling around, flapping of hands and tiptoing are common signs. I understand that as parents, there is always a denial in the parents sides. I do suggest that take an ASD assessment so that you can help him at an early age. There is nothing wrong in bringing your child to the developmental pedia for an assessment.

I see the same symptoms to my nephews too. True enough, they were medically diagnosed with autism.
We all thought they were just speech-delayed, since they can understand instructions, but around 2 & 4 respectively, they still haven't talked so we decided to consult the doctor.
The doctor said we should have consulted para napaaga ang speech therapy. Now, they're 8 and 10... they still can't talk sentences but they can say words. Mga nauutusan na rin. They don't attend mainstream school, rather school for them.

Hi Nicole and Mark, my son is also turning 3 years old next year in January and he still don't talk that good. He is more on motor skills too. I watched your vlog till the end and my son and Corky are very similar, as a first time mom also I know how it feels especially hearing some other people talking about our kids' development but just believe in your son that pretty soon he will at his own pace. We live here in the States and even the doctor here said there's nothing to worry about, every child are different just believe in them and keep your focus on them❤

Bless he is so cute! My son had speech regression at age 2. Family and friends kept saying it was just speech delay, “no need to worry” and he will keep up sooner or later. We waited for a few months but we did worry and we trusted our instinctw. We decided to seek help and advise and it definitely was the best decision. Our son had a thorough assessment, early help and intervention and he improved significantly. He is 5 now and still being supported as he is starting school. As parents, it is difficult to accept that our children are not progressing as they should. But as our children’s parents, we are their best advocates in ensuring their overall wellbeing, protecting their best interests and nurturing their potential. There’s no harm in getting him assessed, better to be told that it is just speech delay and he needs speech therapy by an expert than watching him now and looking back 2-3 years later and realising that getting an ASD assessment was actually a good call. Godbless your family!

My son was 3 1/2 when he started kindy and the teacher noticed that he has speech difficulties/delay. So she suggested to go speech therapy and after few months he started to talk a lot and pronounced words properly. From then he likes reading and now he is 13 and doing well at school here in Australia. Corky is so adorable, God bless ❤

My son started talking at 3 y.o. He undergo for speech therapy after 2 months of therapy he’s been talking words and phrases. My husband sometimes scold our son for being noisy and loud 🤣🤣🤣. May swimming lesson sya at nasa daycare din sya nakatulong din Sa kanya to make him talk more.
Speech delay could happen especially to a 1st born child because they don’t have little sibling to talk too. You’re son is so adorable and smart. Don’t worry about it Kids grow and develop at their own pace.

My pamangkin started speaking really near his 3rd bday. Nasusurprise kami kasi parang inipon niya lahat ng vocabularies. We thought he was a slow-learner. Nakikita namin sa bata ngayon, he thinks a lot and a very smart kid. Though hirap siya magtagalog because his constant companion was UA-cam. Pandemic baby. Nung nagkaroon siya ng kapatid, 2nd baby spoke early because he was imitating the older kid.

Hi,as a mom it's usually a common thing to screen your child at 18 months. Whether there's any diagnosis or not, it's best to have him checked. At age 2 years old, is when a person's brain is fastly developing, by age of 3 all the neurons would have completed the synapse phase. That's why its very important that should there be a need for intervention, naagapan niyo na before age 3. At age 3, "hinahasa" na lang ung brain as neuro dev would say. No harm in having him checked, but al the benefits if you find out and you placed him in early intervention. It's also for your peace of mind knowing you gave him the needed support he needs. Schedule dev ped assessment right away kazi 2024 na ang schedule na bibigay sainyo, you would have to wait for months to even get a slot. You can not start speech therapy or any therapy without assessment from neuro dev.

same with my son. pag kami lang ng Papa niya may sinasabing words pero pag madami tao parang sinasadya niyang di ipakita. May 2023 nag decide kami ipa-assess na siya sa developmental pedia because he already 3 yrs old. He passed all pero bumagsak siya sa speech. Na-diagnose siya with "communication disorder" in short speech delay. He can say "i want milk, toys, ice cream, chocolate" nauutusan na din siya like "get your milk etc". Dont lose hope! and dont mind others comment. Kayong mga magulang ang makakapag sabi if delayed ba or hindi ang baby niyo! Godbless you corky. I wish you all the best!

My son was over three years old when he started talking. I wanted to take him to speech therapy, but his pedia said he didn't need it. It's normal for boys to be delayed. I decided to put him in daycare, and he started talking after a month. So, having other kids around daily really helps a lot.

not trying to parent here, just sharing our personal experience. 1y9m less than 10 words lang nasasabi ng anak.. just to be sure we went to developmental pedia and diagnosed siya with language delay.. ngayon after 6mo of speech therapy.. 2y6m he’s talking phrases na, able to count 1-100.. enrolled at paref preschool and emerging na ang reading skills nya accdg to his teachers. just had our assessment yesterday and okay na siya.. from 3x a week, once a week nalang ang therapy.. monitoring nalang just to make sure sunod sunod ang progress niya then accdg to doc we don’t need to go back to him. As parents we want and we know what’s the best for our child. God bless :)

Hi.. In my experienced with my daughter, same with Corky 2 years di pa din sya nagsasalita.. ayaw nya din talaga.. nag worry din kami pero sabi ng doctor namin just wait baka delayed lang. Kasi si ate nya 1y3m nagsasalita na. Anyway, I know every parents and bawat bata ay different to each other. How to cope up, sa transition etc, pero sa experienced ko with her, don’t let her spend all day or long hours on Tv or gadgets. Kids can easily memorised but when it comes to speaking hindi sya effective.. Natututo ang bata to speak or talk by watching your mouth personally.. In my daughter, sinasabihan namin sya to look at my mouth then eventually magagaya nya yung how you pronounced the word.. Sa gabi naman, I started in the word “apple”.. ang bigkas by syllables.. need nya matutunan sabihin ang “ap” then “ple”… Don’t get tired of doing it until he can say it.. 2y6m she started talking about anything.. meron ka di maiintindihan but soon malalaman mo din ibig nya sabihin.. masusurprise ka na lang super daldal na nila.. kaya goodluck mom and dad.. sana makahelp.. limit the screentime and more on talking to him by asking him to look at your mouth.. say the word by syllables until he gets it and get used to it.. be safe.. hug kay baby

Hi, I'm also a first time mom here. My son is now 3 1/2 yr. old and his talking actually but there were some odd attitude. Me and my husband talked about it and decided that for our son's sake and for our peace of mind, we scheduled him to a developmental pedia but it's going to be in 2024 since they're slot is full. well, what I really wanted to say here is that, let's not be afraid to consult an expert whether it is an advise from others cuz in the end it's going to be our decision. And yes, nakakapraning talaga lahat ng bagay basta tungkol sa anak h😅. Pwede mo din syang ienroll sa play school para mas magkaroon sya ng interaction with other people/ kids and to less screening time. Yun lang hehe. God bless mii. Fighting lang❤.

And doctor recommended speech therapist and Interventionist for almost 2 years na,lagi din sya nagka ear infection so di nag recommend yung pedia nya but we took him sa EENT doc and he recommended ear tube after 3 weeks we were surprised he was talking like a sentence na talaga and won’t stop talking 😍

My son just turned 3 this Sept. When he was 1-2 years old we were worried din kasi he wasn't able speak according daw doon sa dapat nyang stage nya. Pedia suggested DevPed but I did trust my instinct na walang problema sa baby ko. Around 2 years old we started him joining like play dates with other kids since maluwag luwag na sa pandemic. Then there he started to talk at madaldal na agad.

i think, just to be sure lang naman, ipacheck sa developmental pedia, if speech delayed, need nya magundergo ng speech therapy and if di naman speech delayed, then better. Wala din naman masama if ipaevaluate. Early intervention is the key sabi nga ng mga specialists. Great help din if maraming nakakausap ang bata and buong sentences pag kinakausap. Less screen time din and if di maiwasan ang screen time, at least yun mga videos na interactive pero mga 1hr lang, not straight na 1hr, best if may interval.
I have a son na nagkaron ng working impression na language disorder at the age of 3, buo na syang magsalita ng words that time pero di pa conversational. Mahirap nun panahong tinetherapy pa sya lalo single parent ako. Racket dito, racket doon. At 4yrs old, ruled out na and graduate na sya sa therapy. I did not regret na pinatherapy ko sya , na nagpakakuba ako sa work at nagtipid talaga kasi ayoko harapin yun what if.

People has multiple intelligence. And as you describe corky, I think his intelligence is more on bodily-kinesthetic. It means he’s good at body movements such as sign language and he’s expressive through movements at the very young age.
A consultation with doctor will really help you. But nonetheless, corky is such a good boy.

My nephew na 4 y.o. has speech delay din but there is no mumbling dahil hindi dirediretso magsalita kaya pinatherapy din. Watching from Germany.

If he used to babble in 2022 and then stopped all of a sudden, it might be speech regression. The video of him going in circles with his hand flapping may be repetitive behavior or stimming. Even if a lot of people say kids develop at their own pace, it wouldn't hurt to have a developmental pedia. assess him for ASD as he is at a critical age for early intervention should he need it.

Better you have him checked din kasi early intervention mas mapapabilis ang improvement.

My son was born in Japan. He can read basic english words at 2 years old but pagdating sa conversation di sya nagsasalita. Nagtuturo lang sya. I thought there was something wrong with him coz 3 yrs old na sya. But when we go back to the Phils., doon sya nagstart magsalita nung may kalaro na sya and he decided na english ang salita nya at british accent pa! But we should always remember that every child is unique. May kanya-kanya silang pace. My 2nd child is turning 4 in 2 months pero di pa sya nagsasalita. Less than 20 pa words nya pero nakakaintindi pag kausap. Also, premature sya with 2 major surgeries when she was born so iba talaga development nya. I'm sure she'll start talking soon 🙂. Good luck fellow parents. Magsasalita din mga babies natin. Waiting waiting lang 😁.

Every child is a blessing from God. They are all born unique. Their development is also different. There are fast, there are also slow pacing of development.
It is important as a parent not to compare ur child to the other child. Corky is a unique one. You only need to be patient and guide him all the way as i can see, Corky is so loved, well cared, well protected, well guided and everything. Good job Herras couple.❤
Soon, he can speak a lot of words. Don't rush the things that a child can do. Just go with the flow and trust the process.
As a parent, we need to be patient all the time. Let us see the good and beauty of his progress😊 Don't mind what other people say, just keep on loving and guiding him.
So proud of you Herras Fam for having such a simple yet happy, loving and caring family.❤

God Bless 🩵

Needs speech therapist, it will help a great deal.. I know kids whose not talking around 4 years of age but after speech therapy sessions, they'll begin to talk. Please do not disregard this matter. Filipinos mostly ignored it, then, it'll be too late..

my son, also late ang speech dev. i consulted a pedia friend and sabi at the age of 2 ang dev milestone naman is 2- syllable word like ma-ma or da-da. But she highly recommends na no gadget and socialize.. So we enrol him early on sa playschool, and don ng improve talaga sya..

Hi! I think its a phase for every child. Sometimes they learn how to talk 1st rather than to walk and vice versa. My son likes your son, he is 21 months and they are super similar with your son. All the words, were the same, but he is super fast to pick up movements, can copy what you are doing, and he keeps on yelling or screaming or saying little words, but if he is frustrated, he can say a 1 sentence. Just hang on there Mama. They are both the same. Goodluck! My son can say 15 to 20 words now.. and we are taking it time, we don't rush him.. ❤❤❤❤❤

Please have him checked by someone who specializes in child development. I am a mom of a child with autism and watching your son reminds me so much of my son at that age. It’s better to know early because early intervention is the key to helping kids on the autism spectrum. Autism is an spectrum. Some autistic kids are very verbal and aware and some have speech delay. You know it’s autism when he’s showing other signs like “spinning, hand flapping, not pointing, not consistently responding to his name” etc. Look into MCHAT for autism and you can answer the questions there to have more ideas if your child might be on the spectrum or just really delayed on speech.

Hi, no need to worry po as of to current kasi I as a parent po, we have experienced this from our 1st born, hirap as in hirap sya di maka pag salita ng maiintindihan mo, hanggang 5 unti unti na tututo na, actually now our son turns 7 na, turning 8, ok na kahit papano taglish, pero not that really quite excellent for his age, tiyaga lang and wag mainip no harm if you will consult po for an expert, pero for some people who can't afford it, tiyaga lang talaga sa pag tuturo and have faith

I also have a son na diagnosed with speech delay when he was 18 months old palang. Kasi we are just curious parents comparing him to other kids na nakakasalita na with the same age. We consulted a developmental pedia and advised him to start speech therapy. It really helps him a lot na maimprove and speech and now his already 2 years old. He can recite and sing the alphabet and knows how to count from 1 to 20, he can say mama and dada, name the animals, ask for help to open something or if he wants to eat he also ask for milk and water. He can copy the sound of animals. Knows the colors and shapes and able to say it. I suggest to let corky have a professional assistance in improving his speech. We as parents wants the best for our children and walang mawawala he have some professional help from the speech therapist. I think magiging enjoy din sya kasi he can feel na nasa school lang din sya with a teacher. Gobless po sainyo :)

I'm not a doctor, but I am a parent, and based on my observations kay Corky; he is a very normal toddler, actually baby pa siya talaga. He can follow instructions. I still remember nung nasa parang playhouse kayo, and he keeps on picking up yung mga balls na lumalabas. Like almost all the balls na nakita niya, ang cute lang talaga at ang bait niya. He is a very intelligent boy, and I'm not being biased. I'm just saying these things based on my observations. God bless you bebe Corky, and your Mama and Papa as well! ganyan din si husband 4y/o daw siya nakasalita at 'tantado' pa ang 1st word kakaloka di man lang 'mama/dada' anyway dahil sa kwento niyang yun napraning ako na baka late din makapagsalita si baby so nagdownload ako ng baby app at chinicheck ko talaga kung nahi-hit niya ang milestones per month. nabasa ko parang dapat 50 words na pag 1y/o eh parang 20 lang kaya ni baby nun kaya sabi ko antay pa ko ng 1y and 6mos pag di pa rin 50 ipacheck na so pinacheck na nga namin sa dev ped at 1yr late ang speech niya so inenrol namin siya sa speech therapy. fast forward 3y/o na siya at nakaenrol na sa nursery at ang daldal na. yes ang mahal ng bayad sa dev ped at therapist pero sulit po kaya try niyo rin pong ipacheck si corky.♥️

  • @not-so-frustrated-musician6410

You need to bring him to a developmental pedia asap. If there is no finding then good, but it is always better to err in the side of caution because early intervention is key If there is a finding. Rule of thumb is if in 24 months a child does not talk in phrases, you need to have him checked at once. Getting an appointment for a developmental pedia can take months, so I suggest you line up now. If not for anything, at least for peace of mind.
