What a, sweet, wonderful, eulogy, by, Nick Tate (Alan Carter).
Some of those, who made my Saturday mornings special, in the 1970's, have left us; with, the deaths of Barry Morse (Victor Bergman) and Martin Landau (John Koenig).
May she rest in (ETERNAL) peace.

Just now discovering this. What a lovely thing Nick Tate has done and so spot on. I was 11 when Space: 1999 premiered in the States in 1975. It has never left me. My son and daughter chipped in for my 59th birthday and presented me with the complete Space: 1999 series on Blu-Ray and my son and I have been recently going through the first season. He's blown away by it ! He keeps telling me how nothing he's seen in recent sci-fi films and TV shows is new. Space: 1999 has already touched upon those subjects!
In closing, I also just recently saw the Final Message from Moonbase Alpha that Zienia did for the convention in 1999. Just broke my heart! When she teared up talking about Victor and Paul and the others who disappeared during the second season I knew that was real but when she broke down when she asked us to remember them so did I. I loved all the characters in this show. But Barry Morse as Victor Bergman and Zienia as Sandra....they were the heart of the show for me. R. I. P. Zienia ! And yes....we will never forget you or any of the Alphans. As for me I am already passing down the knowledge of your existence to my kids. Love you all !

That must’ve been fun watching Space: 1999 with your son. I was 8 during the show’s first season. There was a local restaurant and bar we went to called The Ground Round when ‘I was a kid and they had a big screen projection TV and I remember they showed Space: 1999 on it while we had dinner there. My favorite episode is The Last Sunset, which prominently features Paul, Sandra and Alan. On the behind the scenes disc for Season 1, Zienia said she had to act unconscious while Paul and Alan struggled to open the door to the Eagle and a huge amount of Fuller’s Earth collapsed into the cargo area where she was lying down and not cough. Until then, I had no idea there was a company that sold dirt as a prop to movies and television show productions.

A really wonderful tribute to Zienia from Nick. It was great hearing it in his own words and reflections of his personal experiences with her. She was truly a sweet and beautiful lady.

Such a nice eulogy from a great actor. Zienia was special. She was taken before her time. Both Zienia and Nick had a tremendous presence on Space: 1999, and at times proved they could carry the show in occasional lead roles. The show (especial season 1) will live on as one of the most epic sci-fi action series ever produced.

Space 1999 was far ahead of its time. All cast were fantastic. Zienia still stood out. She had a warmth and confidence. You could get lost in her eyes. Very nice eulogy.

I am watching it for the first time. You are right. I am kinda shocked at how good it is. Sometimes great. I am nearly done with season one but I kinda dread starting season two because I have been warned it's so different. And, yes, the Sandra character does stand out and while Landau, Bain and Morse are the leads, the show is smart enough to give us glimpses of the supporting characters. I have grown to like them all. I already know Morse doesn't stay for season two, which is a shame. And I know Sandra is only in a few episodes. That is a shame, too. I am sure at some point they will remake this series but with the way remakes have gone they will probably screw it up.

I was 15/16 when Space 1999 aired. I had a great teenage male crush on her, which never abated. I remember reading about her passing in 2018, but did not see this tribute until today. Wonderfully done, Nick Tate.

RIP Beautiful lady. I loved this show and always felt it got shortchanged and was not given a chance to establish itself. She was a great part of that series.

My friends & I watched the series religiously. Season 2 was such a dissappointment to us. Yes, it fixed many of the 'problems' in season 1, but created many more! I think that was when we middle-schoolers first truly understood the phrase 'threw the baby out with the bath water'. So season 1 is the better in my mind

she got the role of "resident screamer" because she reacted badly to being told to let a Tarantula crawl up her arm; she threw the most hysterical wobbly (who wouldn't?);that Gerry Anderson asked her if she was pregnant!

It isn't lost to me that the Day Zienia passed away was a day (and 19 years) since the Moon broke away from Earth. This year will be the year when the exodus to Terra Alpha, and Sandra's message, would be recorded and sent.... to be received 25 years earlier by Moonbase Alpha.

I understand what happened to Zienia. The English producers didn't make her work, she would have had to go and work in the USA, but she didn't want to leave her family.
Martin Landau wanted to take her under his wing and introduce her to American producers he knew.
However, there was an underlying reason: already, in 1974, Martin was no longer getting along with his wife Barbara, despite appearances. He was secretly in love with Zienia, which explained his kindness towards her, but the beautiful Zienia did not let it count.
Finally, she remained in England, pulling the devil by the tail: she accepted everything and anything to live, she did not even have a pension, she was forced to work until the end of her life to survive, which aged her prematurely, before widespread cancer killed her.
In short, a waste, a pure waste...

How do you know he was secretly in love with Zienia? That is quite an accusation.

    • @Yvette5432
      @Yvette5432 Місяць тому

Not really, no. "He was really good to me," said Zienia...A little too good for my taste...He stroked her head between takes, in "Alpha's Child", the pre-credits sequence, Martin takes her almost in his arms, Sandra plays her role as a childless woman, he does a little too much in consoling her, I also learned that already at that time, he was no longer sleeping with Barbara, they were rooming together. share...All these little details combined which reveal many things...
