She can play pop or classical very well and is much nicer to look at than most of the haters' preferred classical players. Pointless to compare an apple to an orange and vent anger on the apple that it is not an orange. Why listen to vanessa doing pop when you want to actually listen to a classical version? Maybe the haters just enjoy hating things. You could learn many things from vanessa. She has from a young age has shown great self determination and confidence and has pulled off what she set out to do selling out shows time and time again reaching an enormous audience , always keeping a positivity to everything she does despite all the nay sayers and usually to an extremely high standard and in different genres and throwing in Olympic skiing along the way. Why not take a leaf out of her book and live life with that much fearlessness and excellence and actually achieve something?
Involved with music for nearly 60 years, really liked this rendition. Still had the classical sound, but with a modern twist. Not outlandish, but with a nice combination of instruments and modernism. Nice version Vanessa Mae.

I would hate this kinda makeover when I was still young but now I would say it's all about creativity and I like it. There's no right or wrong but how you enhance n make it better

There's nothing wrong with this, but I do think it's missing the point a little. When I Hiefitz play I get chills and have watched and re-watched him play the piece probably 20 or so times. I think what this interpretation is missing is the virtuosity, which is what makes this piece so entertaining.
It works, just as she said. If you don't enjoy it, you're free to eh not listen to it, right? No music should be erased from youtube. Freedom for all music. This is very good stuff, try to do it yourself.
Vanessa-Mae's technique/phrasing/musicality as a violinist may not be as good as Heifetz's, but she's done what no violinist has done before; she made the violin relevant in music outside of the classical genre. And for that, I'm very appreciative being a violinist myself.

The mindnumbing whinges from the soulless puritains just goes to show that no creativity and interpretation go unpunished. I for one enjoy both classical performance of this piece and Vanessa Mae's interpretation, I think the tapdancing was a little odd but if that's how she feels she wants to perform it, good on her.

Why all this hate here?? Vanessa is a good player, she just like to do it in her way. Because of her, 10 years ago, I decided to learn violin.
There is even an audio on UA-cam of her playing "la Campanella" which is a perfection of execution, almost insurmountable.
