I just booted up Budokai 3 in the wake of learning of Akira Toriyama’s death. As a girl who grew up with Dragonball during the 2000’s, this series made me really love anime. And while there were times I kinda fell off Dragonball as my interests went to other things, I always went back with a smile, ready to rewatch my favorite moments and play through Budokai 3, which remains even now as one of my all time favorite games. Listening to this intro both on the actual game and here makes me melancholic. I’ll never forget the impact Dragonball had on me. I’m crying even now because I know his death marks the end of an era. But I know his legacy lives on in the hundreds of mangaka he inspired, and the millions of fans, both in the East and especially the West, he’s made. Including this American gal here. Farewell, Toriyama-Sensei. Thank you for the memories.
Man, I cried when I heard Toriyama passed away. I cannot explain how important Dragon Ball Z has been to me in my life. Rest in peace to an absolute legend. He's earned his halo.
I'm happy to say this game was a part of my childhood. The neighbor kid and i would go days without talking to each as a result of some of our matches lol. Dragon ball is what introduced me to the world of anime, just like many others. Rest well Toriyama you left us with something that will keep us happy till the end of time.
Rip to the goat Akira Toriyama, thank you for creating dragon ball z and this made a huge impact throughout my life by having this as one of my fav anime shows to watch 🤍🙏🏼
Kind of unrelated, but I’ve been jamming to this after Budokai Tenkaichi 4 was announced. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is the most iconic Dragon Ball game ever, and Budokai 3’s theme song is the most iconic in Dragon Ball gaming history.
@@NCSIMBA I never said “best”, I said “iconic”. If you think those games are better, that’s your opinion, but BT3 is objectively the most iconic Dragon Ball game ever. It’s the most well-known and popular, and practically everyone loves that game.

Me and my brother used to run through the story mode everyday to get the extended version of this song in the end credits, slowly close the door to the room, power up and literally beat the shit out of each other thinking we were super saiyans. Until one of us was super snitching to mommy cuz we got punched in the face too hard 😂😂😂
Just wanna throw in Kazuki Takahashi as well, out of respect. He died after Miura, but before Toriyama. That's now two Shonen Jump manga-ka that I know of who are sadly no longer with us.
Thank You Akira Toriyama. You will forever inspire many of us to keep being better than we were yesterday until the day we join you. You passed on more than just a passion, you passed on a dream and a sense of purpose.
My younger brother made his girlfriend send me a video of him playing this on Clone Hero earlier today, and it brought a wave of emotional nostalgic tears to my eyes as i immediately flashed back to jamming to this and playing with him as children. This video is 10 years old, but man am I ever grateful that you took the time to upload this, because I had the privilege of blasting this at full volume on my way to work, and it really made me feel young again ❤️
That's amazing to hear dude, the feeling of nostalgia can't be beaten in my opinion. I wish for happy days, may everyone who sees this also have happy days!

Man, I first ever heard this song was back on 2017, when I was playing a DBZ BT3 mod game called "DBZ BT4 Beta" while I was testing the move set from some characters and then this song started to play, man this is so nostalgic, I wish that I could return back to 2017, I miss those moments because 2017 was one of the best years of my life and also is where my life started to get better after those terrible years from 2014-2016 where these are my worst years of my life all the time.

Budokai 3/Infinite World are the best Dragon Ball games ever created. I don't care what anyone says. Anyone who says otherwise never knew how to play Budokai games. Tenkaichi is trash and overrated. So is raging blast and xenoverse. Kakarot is entertaining, and the art style and animations capture the anime style better than any other 3D Dragon Ball game. It is not a fighting game. Back to Budokai. I have my own story. Budokai 3 was the only Dragon Ball game that had its own unique fighting game mechanics. I played Budokai 3 so much that I burned out my first disc and had to buy a second disc. Back then, I was in high school. I think it was 10th grade. I learned how to do massive combos by myself long before any youtube videos existed. UA-cam was brand new. There as no such thing as monetized videos, and youtube was better back then. Most of you kids don't know about those days and Toonami. Budokai 3/Infinite World is capable of infinite combos, but there are ways to avoid the combos. FighterZ is merely a copy of marvel vs capcom and street fighter, which I could never get into. There is nothing unique about FighterZ. It has good art style and that is it. No other game had Budokai style. I am NOT talking about trash tenkaichi. As for Tenkaichi, it released shortly after Budokai 3. It was the new thing at the time. Suddenly, everyone began to shift over to tenkaichi because they never learned how to do combos or understand how Budokai 3 worked. I always wanted to see a third person Dragon Ball game created similar to Zone of The Enders style. Tenkaichi is not it. Konami should have created Tenkaichi and not Spike. Tenkaichi was too simple and lacked any sort of combos. It was all energy ki spam blasts. Zone of The Enders released in 2001 and it is still ahead of its time. I have never seen another game with mechanics like Z.O.E. These guys I knew in high school challenged me in budokai 3. I told them I was going to destroy them easily. They had already shifted over to tenkaichi. One of them, Eric, kept saying how tenkaichi is better and he could beat me at it. I said, "I don't CARE! Tenkaichi is boring and lacks skill. It's all ki blasts and has no combo skill involved." Well, he brought his PS2 to school during the final week of class. They played me and they had NO clue how I was doing combos, or that it was even possible to do that much. They were saying words similar to, "I don't know how he is doing that! How is he doing that? I can't do anything." I was literally laughing while destroying them. They gave up. Most people transferred to tenkaichi because it was third person and the new game at the time. Most of them NEVER learned what Budokai was capable of. The same goes for 98% of the comments when people say tenkaichi was the best, and fighterz. Anime and Dragon Ball were not allowed or popular in the fighting game tournaments back then. If Budokai 3 was acknowledged and had more attention at the time, it would be known as the best Dragon Ball game. It was bad timing and lack of knowledge and acceptance. That is my story. I don't have an interesting life and I am not successful, but I can tell you what TRULY happened when tenkaichi released.
Youre right. It hasn't been the same since budokai 3. It has a magic that the other games just don't have. I honestly can't imagine how many hours I put into the game to 100% capsules.
Dragon Ball Z's theme may be "Rock the Dragon, Dragon Ball Z!" But I personally think this theme applies not only to Dragon Ball as an entire franchise, but Akira Toriyama himself. If you asked me what piece of music best summarizes Toriyama, how much we love and miss him, and how much his works have impacted the world in so many positive ways, it would be this theme.
Bro the garbage "Rock the Dragon" song is American only. "Chala head Chala" is the DBZ theme everywhere else in the world. And this song from Budokai 3 was obviously meant to have anime intro vibes similar to Chala, since they are both sung by the same guy, Hironobu Kageyama.
Now, I'm confused, I have this game, and the intro on my'n is voiced, but say "SomeCallMeJohnny's" one in instrumental?, now, I'm AUSTRAILIAN, so this that the reason?
