The Borders store makes me really sad. I sure miss Borders and its sad seeing one of its old stores completely coated in dust with all those unsold books.
It's crazy how I'm getting dead mall vibes from this video. The guy at 8:35 saying, "They fucking raided this place. That's fucked up, bro," doesn't sound that far off from an explorer in an urbex video. 11:30 Also, I wonder if they did anything with that sign. It looks like it withstood the collapse.
Borders at the WTC was my favorite book store. I bought so many books and CDs from there and bought many items from other stores in the mall like the WB store, Duane Reade, a shoe store, etc…
Those sirens going WEEEOW WWEEOW WWEEEOW are from firefighters emergency signals going off. So creepy. BLESS ALL OUR FIRST RESPONDERS THAT LOST THEIR LIVES TO SAVE OTHERS.
I commuted through there around 11:30pm the night before the attacks - this video gives me MAJOR chills. E train to PATH train (Newport/Jersey City). Thank you for uploading this.
Every single decision that day was a 50/50 chance of survival. There were so many pockets of survival down there and around. But you couldn't or wouldn't of known. That's sad the opportunities for some to survive presented themselves after the fact. Much love, New York. One of my favorite cities. From a kiwi down under. ❤
@@seymoorepoone9512 i would hope so. i’d hate to see all that perfectly fine merchandise go to waste. of course with things like FOOD, that’s not an option because you don’t want to eat food that’s been contaminated with dust. plus it expires. i know there was some unsold merchandise in the warner brothers store (there is a picture with many boxes on these shelves and id hate to see those get thrown away. i’m not exactly sure what kinds of merch they were, but i think some of the items were powerpuff girls collectible stuff). as for clothing items, hopefully some of those were cleaned off too and resold somewhere. i know there is some clothing display preserved in some museum or something but yeah i just really hope most of the unsold merchandise that survived the attacks were rehomed because some of the items were perfectly fine like i said
If you were limited to just one word; how would you describe this video? I'd have to say "eerie" - holy smokes... Thank God it's not lost to history, however.
The mall went from being a pleasant place with relaxing music to a place straight out of a horror video game.
its so quiet its eerie even with all those noise from the outside

OMG where did you find this? I've been looking for video of the mall for years. Thank you so much!

I was in the mall 2 weeks before 9/11. It was so nice! I distinctly remember going into a beautiful Hallmark store. This video breaks my heart!!

Man the eery quietness of a once bustling underground mall

6:55 but the truth was stranger than any popular fiction on the shelves, or scattered about.

Very risky going in there after all that, as there was always the danger that more of the structure could collapse.

What happenend with all those videos and books from Borders?
I can imagine most if not all of it was destroyed due to the damage and dust contamination caused by the collapses
@@september11archivisti think they mean, what happened to all the unsold merchandise
It’s sounds cold to say, but most likely disposed of and either written off or paid for by Border’s insurance.
Probably insured. Probably cleaned and moved to another location.
