Very good and creative way to fix a bubbling or drooping headliner. The only bad
thing with using glue, especially on a thin surface cloth, is that usually the glue
bleeds thru and shows stains in the headliner, like in luxury cars. For the surface
your fixing, it looks more fluffy and thick, so likely you wouldn't see glue stains
if they bleed thru. Very good video. If you just do spots, with not to much glue,
it should be fine.
Omgawd Ty so much I just redid my headliner and saw I missed a few spots, I was dreading pulling it off to redo, and couldn’t stand the thought of leaving it like that. This is a great idea!!!
Yup I was wondering if this would work and now I can see it does. Didn’t realise you could draw the glue right of the tube with the syringe. So a real help. Fortunately here in Australia you can freely buy syringes because it is part of a program to reduce needle sharing among druggies. 4 for $10. Works for me!
I'm in Australia too and want to try this technique. Where did you purchase the syringe & needles from?
This is a great video! I found this looking for options on how to fix a few sagging points in my newly laid headliner. I did mine by myself and didn't get a chance to lay the indented areas good so it created tension, thus not sticking well. I had put starlights in my headliner so completely redoing everything was out of the question. This video gave me the needle trick option. I went to a Tractor supply and bought syringes and needles. (Any place that sells farm animal stuff should have needles). I popped off the plunger of the syringe and just filled it with gorilla glue. Then I put the plunger back in and attached the needle. Worked like a charm. All the areas I applied glue with the needle are still holding up on my headliner. I did black suede in a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The gorilla glue did harden the headliner material where I applied it but it's not overly noticeable. Im okay with it in a few spots since the alternative for me was to redo 1,040 fiber optics and relay the entire headliner. This video is golden! 🔥
Note: test w/e glue you plan on using against a piece of scrap headliner material. It may cause discoloration or hard spots. Also becarful when pulling the needle out so you don't get glue on the headliner.
Today I found out my car's headliner was sagging and I was considering this technique.
Can you give us an update on how it is holding after a year?
Anyone tried this on lighter fabric? How did it work? I'm a bit nervous about leaving a glue mark and dark spots inside my care
I think it will leave glue marks on lighter fabric, but on heavier, I think OK.
I see your comment is from a year ago I'm curious if you tried it I have a light tan liner I'm getting ready to try gorilla spray adhesive and I'm curious if it will leave wet spots :(😢
SOMETIMES YOU CAN TAKE A HEAT GUN REHEAT THE AREA AND HOLD FOR A FEW AND IT WILL STICK BACK.
never do this!!. you will most likely make a nasty hole on the headliner. it is very difficult to control the heat level with the heat gun...
@@wintereiser how bout a cloth iron ?
Thought about using a spray can straw, sharping tip like hypodermic, inserting into fabric and going in circular motions 🤔
Just a reminder to people that want to recreate this:
Use glue with high temperature resistance, normal superglue cant withstand the hot sun.
Awesome. I had this idea but wanted to see someone else do it before i messed up my headliner.
Looks interesting, but if you’re only using a hypodermic needle, that means you must get very little superglue between the cloth and the headliner, right?
That would mean that when you spread the glue out with a roller, there’s not too much glue to spread, right?
So wouldn’t that make tiny patches sticking to the headliner per injected area - and around them, sagging material - instead of having a flat surface again?
Or do you need to do that many times until you have nearly every inch of the headliner needled up with glue?
And, by the way, are you meant to start injecting/gluing from the center of the sagging roof, or from the sides?
Umm anyone think it will not work so well on a fabric headliner ? Or make hard looking dark spots??? I don't want to destroy mine
i was thinking the samw thing..
Don't do it. It'll leave marks
Either way your headliner is destroyed because if you want it to go back to looking normal you'd have to get completely re-done, which means stripping the old fabric and putting fresh fabric on. This is just for damage control - if the liner is sagging and you don't want it to get worse etc.
Το εχω κάνει.Άφησε μεγάλα σημάδια,λεκέδες.Τελικά άλλαξα ταπετσαρία.
Tired it on a light color headliner and left spots in the first few pokes so I stopped.
Smart idea!
What is the best glue to use super glue or adhesive glue or it doesn't matter. For lighter liner do the super glue show through the material after drying. Thank you
Animal feed stores (like in the country for large animals) sometimes sell needles, and they don't have the same restrictions for selling them that a drug store would. Its where I get needles for glue and other DIY tasks. As long as you buy 1 or 2 every once in a while they don't even ask what its for.
Oh great! Good to know. I want to try this technique but didn't know where to go.
Well done and very clever! Now will try it myself...
Would the super glue seep through or stain beige headliner?
it melts and sags do to high heat in the car
0:56 - Thank you for posting such a long video because I am having this current problem; I just don't know if I can purcase the same items; I'm wondering if this is something that I can do today, but THANK YOU, I just subbed to this channel, because I was specifically looking looking for something that wasn't going to force you to tear apart the headliner.
I'm wondering actually since I have to test drive my car if I can purcase it at the Dollar Store today?
This is exactly what I needed! I was thinking along these lines, and now I'll get to it! Thanks!
Thanks guys
tnx nice, snappy hir in philippines going tondo this to my sisters trailbazer
Hello guys, I’ve tried a few glues but they are just too think to go though the needle, what glue are you using?
Wouldnt using an iron reheat the glue and re activate it?
I like the way you're thinking! It could potentially work, if there's enough glue there to heat up. Be careful putting direct heat on certain kinds of fabrics too. We'll never know unless we try. Happy Building! 🛠
Great idea. Thanks
Is there a small roller I can use? I have an expensive Mercedes which is out of warranty and the bubbles on the black headliner are terrible. I really don't want to pull the thing out.
Complete with bloopers! Awesome! I will try this!
Heck yea thank you!
I wish I had seen this a year and half ago. A few lil bubbles here and there soon turn into a falling down headliner with just a few wind blows from the doors opening and closing
Super awesome tip
Thank you that's very helpful. I'm going to try this today.
Definitely helped!! I customized my liner and I guess some parts didn’t have enough glue!!
I used a satin pink fabric though!! Do you think the glue will bleed through??!!
Hey there! 👋🏼 With satin material, I think it may show hard spots/bleed through a little, depening on how thick the material is. I would definitely test it on a less noticeable spot first and try to use as little glue as possible. Or, if you have any left over material, maybe experiment with testing different glues & amounts of glue. Hope this helps and happy building! 🔨🔧
@@EncompassAdventure heck yes! Thank you!!!
@@TheBadioo How did this work with your lighter fabric? I'm having the same concerns
@@dontes5009 I went ahead and redid the whole headliner with 3M Headliner Adhesive. And immediately noticed a difference… I’ve had no problems since.
Just redo your headliner. I have a video on my page about my WHOLE experience.
Thanks
Hummm...very interesting technique and I love the idea! I have an Audi Convertible. I can see where it detached. There are only certain areas where the liner is glued to begin with and just a few of those little points came undone. Your technique is genius and perfect for my situation. I just don't know where I will get a syringe and needle. Lol
Any pharmacy
did you do it ?
And was the results good ?
Cause I have a Audi A4 n want to try it lol
@diegoromo8430 no I did not. Got scared. Lol. I still want to do it. I have the glue and the syringe! My lining is a chaulk white color. Stainless. I don't know if the glue will leave residue that will seep into the lining. I will have to be careful. Once I start I need to complete it as I only have 1 syringe. Lol
Audis are notorious for headliners coming adrift. Usualy the engines go before the headliner comes apart though. Not made like they used to be and are really a "throw away" item mechanically. Absolute rubbish. Not built to last. But then again anything made by the VW Auto group these day is, costing a fortune to maintain.
@125sloth So far my 2014 A5 with 86k miles is going strong. If they are indeed rubbish, Im glad I dodged that bullet as Im loving mine.❤ It's been to the dealer here and there but never due to something super major. I know what caused my liner to droop. For a few days my car was parked outside in California when we were having a CRAZY heat wave! It was dry and it was HOT! It cooked out there and that is what caused about 4 areas on my lining to droop. I have my syringe and glue but STILL haven't done it it! Lol. It's not drooping that bad but I still want to get the lining back up. I'm more afraid of staining by beautiful chaulk color lining then fixing the droop! Hahaha! Has anyone tried doing this on their car and if so, how did it go for you? Any precautions or tips? Thanks! 😃
Can you update if it has maintained or fallen apart again? I have absolutely no trust in 99C store's stuff.
Get quality super glue
Thanks Big Time!
My pleasure, happy to help! Thank you for watching. 😊
Thanks for your headliner Superglue episode . I have bubbles in my factory headliner and think this will solve the problem!
Our pleasure!! I'm glad we could help. 😊
yes very helpful
No stains?
Not for me but it all depends on the type of glue, amount of glue and material you use. Happy Building! 🛠
How long has this held up? 😕 I'm considering it
Brilliant!
Thank you 😊
nice work
Where can you get a Syringe
Brilliant
I try before not working
Where can I get a hypodermic needle? It's not something we can get at any store.
Walmart
I have this exact problem with the whole headliner falling off..
You're gonna need one massive needle. 😂😂😂 JK
This video has my favorite thumbnail. It's like you're giving your can Botox and I'm here for it
Best plastic surgery job we have ever seen!
Haha thanks! It didn't even require a medical license! 😋
how'd you get the laugh joke in there? I'm a small youtube channel; forgive my constant questions. You just have a lot more subscribers than I do.
Nice trick
