MY BIGGEST WHITETAIL EVER! // Spot and Stalk 19 Point!

  • The story of a 177”, 19 point, non-typical mature Whitetail in full velvet spot and stalked in Western Nebraska. My biggest whitetail EVER and a dream come true. This is something I’ve had envisioned in my head ever since I was a little kid, flinging arrows around the farmyard with my homemade PVC bow. I’m still speechless, and grateful beyond belief. To see a deer of this caliber is amazing. To be able to fill my tag on him with one of my lifelong best friends by my side is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. I hope you enjoy the story and hunt for this magnificent deer, and I hope you too get to experience a hunt like this someday.

    The patience shown in this hunt is incredible. It's so crucial that you didn't get too excited and rush the shot. I don't believe I would've handled it that well considering the monster buck kept standing up in his bed seeming like he could get spooked any moment.

    A clip on mic would do you guys a lot of good, I found myself having to skip thru a lot of the video due to sound issues. But, regardless of that, what an awesome hunt and earned a new subscriber. Good job on that follow up shot by the way as well!

    Really hard to hear with the wind, maybe use a microphone or subtitles for the next video 🤷‍♂️.

    • @BowOnlyOutdoors
      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 роки тому

      Thank you! We apologize about that, thanks for the feedback! Even with the windmuff over our external mic it was too windy to get very good audio, especially whispering. We’ll add subtitles next time!

    Nice buck! Out of curiosity, what weight was the weight of the arrow that you used?

    • @BowOnlyOutdoors
      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      The arrow weighed 450 grains. Full specs on my bow is 28.5" 80% mods 67 LBS with a 27" Easton Axis 340 with 50 grains of brass and 100 grain point. I'm getting about 286 FPS out of it which equates to about 82 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. The second hit didn't get much penetration as it hit the very base of the ribs where they come off from his spine. It did still catch lungs, but I was still not happy with the lack of penetration. If it would have been even 1" lower, I think it would have been a different story. Shot location is key.

    • @Tigerling727
      @Tigerling727 4 роки тому

      Bow Only Outdoors least it went down and wasn’t a runaway to never be seen again. That’s a nice buck, I’m jealous.

    • @ZhaunWoodardMusic
      @ZhaunWoodardMusic 4 роки тому

      How do you shoot such a short arrow with a 28.5” reach? Is the BH sitting just before your rest? I have the same DL and bow as you and I’d be terrified I would clip my finger with the blade haha

    • @BowOnlyOutdoors
      @BowOnlyOutdoors  4 роки тому

      Great question! Draw length is measured from the throat of the grip to the pinch of the string at full draw PLUS 1 3/4” to get actual ATA style draw length. My draw length measured ATA style is more around the 28 7/8” mark after adding that 1 3/4”. Pairing that with my rest slid back slightly and my arrow sits roughly 1/4” in front of my arrow rest launcher. With a correct grip, you should never clip your fingers, but it’s not impossible! It’s just never been a concern or problem of mine.

    • @account-ability_2583
      @account-ability_2583 4 роки тому

      I personally don't trust the penetration on mechanicals. I switched to fixed blades this year and built two sets of Easton Axis 300s at 475grain and 500 grain. I will never go back to mechanicals.
