I think its disgraceful that stowe council has a court injunction to prevent ppl having a historic fair that has gone on for centurys. Having said that the gypsy ppl need to collect an admission fee, to pay for the damage that gets done. It seems from listening to the pub owners, the police heavy handedness nearly created a problem, as they so often do, as they do love to put ppl in there place!

Sad that their hardships are all self imposed Pulling kids out of school at 13 or so only hamstrings them to a difficult life The poor behavior only damages the reputation of everyone, they should police themselves and shame those that leave a mess or steal from locals since it ruins a good thing for everyone
I remember sitting with a gypsy caravan some summers back when the son of one of the men i was talking to got a bit rambunctious, as kids are prone to do. He quickly yelled to the kid saying "quit that now, if they see you they'll have us deported." Roma from India and Irish travelers are genetically completely different origin historically. Because of the similar lifestyle there has been some mixed marriages, but it is wrong to call travelers and tinkers "roma", because they mostly have different genetic origin. F.ex. most of the Romanian roma are the real Rrom, even though in every tribe there is also some mixed bloodlines. www.thejournal.ie/traveller-community-study-rcsi-3231070-Feb2017/
but roma are not 100% indian dna, there is no 100% roma person. they have a bit indian or middle eastern dna but mostly european, mixed. travellers in sweden who are blonde and blue eyed consider themself roma, because they decend from the first arrivals in the 1500s and still speak a scandinavian dialect of romani language
but yeah there are old all irish/norweigan/swedish people who travelled. but dont these travellers in ireland speak roma language? they have no language of their own ?
@@audhumbla6927 As I wrote there is some mixed bloodlines in every nationality, and there is NO human community, with 100% homogenous genetic heritage. Originally all nationalities are relatives with each other. The Roma blood is also mixture of many tribes, also. And some Irish travellers can have some Roma ancestors, and therefore also genetic heritage from India. But if we roughly compare the Roma gene and the Irish travellers' genetic heritage you can usually see much bigger percent off Indian bloodlines in the dna of the Roma than in the dna of the Irish travellers. F. ex. many of the Finnish Roma ("Kaale") have still at least 30-40% of their dna from "Indian haplogroups" (not all of them, especially in the Southern Finland they already have a lot of Finnish dna). But we always have to remember that the cultural heritage and the genetic heritage are never the same thing. There is people who speak Roma language even if they have hardly any genetic heritage from India, and there is people who have 40-50% Indian bloodlines, but who don't speak Roma at all any more.
@@Rubiinitar yeah you just repeated what I said. finnish kale have more indian dna yes, while kalderash and lovari have even more, but blonde blue eyed swedish and norweigan travellers who still speak roma have maybe 5% indian if even. THE POINT IS that all these tribes are roma.
