The novel blew my mind even more, because each story is a lot more developed, and I saw a lot of new parallels. You should read it !

It's funny because I got to see the first 45 mins when I fell asleep. I woke in the morning and I saw the last 20 mins ,,,the wrap up with that woderful score. If that hadn't happened probably I had returned the dvd without watching it. Soemthing led me to watch this film and then I loved it. I did some research on wikipedia to identify the characters because with somuch make up I couldn't recognize some of them. Such a fantastic story and such a great production and piece of art.

this movie was completely a true work of art. watched it twice in 2 days, was so excited to read the book... but man, Adam Ewing's writing really is hard to get through. XD His set of journal entries is only the first part too lol. but I still gotta go through this, because I'm going to watch the movie a 3rd time after I finish this book >:]

i feel the exact same way as you do! I first watched the film and it changed my view of life and interactions with others, my opinion on reincarnation (I always thought it was just some hippie dippie stuff). Read the book after the film and it just amplified this feeling I have when I watched the film. It blew my mind.

reading cloud atlas was truly an ordeal. it's very possible that the film was better (which probably doesn't say much)

The end credits all show you who is who, if you don't turn it off as soon as it's over.

Adam's part was hard for me too I first, but keep on going, it gets more exciting for him, and the others have very different styles.

Did anyone understand what he said was the second theme? did he say "preducity" or something like that? I didn't understand...
    Hope anyone answers, thanks...

Hi, it's been seven years, but the answer to your question is "predacity", the quality of being a predator. He's referring to the way humans can prey on other humans, to manipulate and use them for their own ends, a recurring theme in the book.

why did you edit out the interviewer? The interview seems a bit disembodied like this.

I was at uni with David Mitchell - University of Kent, 1987 to 1990. I remember him as a shy, quiet, inoffensive and clearly seriously cerebral student. Not as this bloated, pretentious, false-humility, deeply-overawed by his own brilliance 'author'.
