Jeff, your the only one that IV seen that talks about new york state in any of there videos. That's the state I live in and hunt. I really think it's cool that a big time name like yours talks about little old new york. I'll take any info you got about hunting new york. Cause we're not like the big deer states. Our season only goes from October 1 til Dec 22. Thanks again Jeff
Jeff, I've been following you for just a few months now (2020) and let me tell you what, I think you should bring back the motivational intros! I thought I was going to get life changing advice lol. in all seriousness though, thanks for all the free content! Im learning a tremendous amount.
Shane Chitwood Thank you very much and I hope the tips help you out this season! I will do my best to keep them coming, I think I have about 4 videos that will come out in the next week...and plenty more every week after I hope! Thanks again...good luck!
Funny thing... these nearly exact conditions are occurring here today ( Long Island NY ) .... INCLUDING it being Friday-Tuesday . Almost exact to even the days !! I certainly will be hitting it hard . Grreat intel !
I appreciate your teaching I have tried everything I have watched like hinge -cutting bating technique's making mock-scrapes licking branches using sent removers I like the home remedies Baking soda Peroxides and water , Or Apples juice & Molasses together I hope and pray that the Good lord Lets me have a good Harvest this year than last year which I was unsuccessful with a 4 pointer and my rifle wasn't firing , this year I have a different Rifle a Mossberg Patriot 308.cal. & a AR-15 55grain from Hornady with a Suppressor'
I love your videos, very educational. The one caveat is this-I live in middle Georgia and I don't see any movement after a cold front. I recently went out after a heavy thunderstorm with rising barometric pressure and nothing. I have experienced this over and over. Can you clarify if this is a regional difference in behavior?
I’ve been hunting Georgia for 20 years. On the Alabama border west of Atlanta, the border a little more south, and middle southern GA. My experience is that it can be a terrible deer state no matter what. Seems like there’s only 2 or 3 good weeks to go out every year. And also the more south I go the better it seems to get. My advice, play the wind or get hella good at scent blocking, and get good at calls and rattling the different parts of the months. Those things will help you tremendously no matter what state you’re in. The last time I hunted, I pulled out the rattle bag, hit the big buck grunt a couple of times, and some does came running in not 30 seconds later. They were being chased by a button buck and spike. They stopped, checked out the area 20 yards from me, and the males let out a couple of mating grunts. I let them pass in hopes a bigger buck would’ve noticed all the commotion coming through. And sure enough, a 2 or 3 year old 8 point came waltzing hot on their trail. I let him get in my shooting lane, hit the grunt to get him to stop, and the rest is history. Bottom line, I feel Georgia is terrible no matter what the weather says. It might help here and there, and maybe even the red moon phases might be of a slight advantage. Everywhere I’ve hunted there just aren’t enough mature bucks to go around and it’s a pretty darn lucky year if you get one, or at least something that’s bigger in antler score than a basket rack. They’re out there but hard to come by.
So question... I know its good after the storms and front due to stress and missing feeding times. But what about before? They can sense the storms coming and feed heavy before right?
Jeff, I'm a little confused. If a cold front is coming through. Is it best to wait for the weather to start improving or do I hunt the cold front itself. In the video it appears the temp is 73 and it drops to 56. Do I hunt the drop at 56 degrees that day, or do I wait for the weather to start getting better?
Good question Anna! I like to a hunt a little bit before, sometimes during if there is a significant break in the weather...but I highly recommend hunting the calm and cold conditions on the back side of the front!
Jeff, in southeast Ohio this weekend were going from 80 today, to 60 and raining tomorrow. A low of 52 tonight. Better to hunt the morning tomorrow or evening? At what point during this weather event should you be in the woods?
Looking a the same front here in Western Pennsylvania. I'm heading into the woods after the rain moves out in the morning when I can sneak in quietly and stay in all day. That was my plan before watching this video, but this video is some killer info.
Hi I'm a new bow hunter I've got a lot of nice bucks on my trail camera I'm from PA I have a cold front coming this Saturday would you be in the stand Saturday morning if I listen to your video right it would be a yes supposed to be 75 then drop down into low 60s getting a little discouraged not seeing the Bucks I seen on my trail camera
Is it deer lab? I have been trying to build profiles on my deer but didn't know there was something like this can you put a link or tall me what app it is thanks for all your help!!
Big fan of your Channel! Question for you, during a cool front is that a good time for a all day hunt ? It’s getting into the heat of the rut here in pa and this weekend temps are dropping into 20 in the morning and not goin above 40
I went to the site, how did you get the chart? I have plenty of weather stations around, but I really don't know how to operate the site. I've seen forcast of a cold front for Sunday Night/Monday, so I'd like to see what they say, and start tracking this stuff w/ cam video/etc. Thanks~
Don Wilson The best is to visit www.weatherunderground.com on desktop mode, and then view the 10 day forecast. The forecast graph should pop up and it is a pretty useful tool! good luck!
Hello sir. I am a new hunter. Trying to develop a strategy for next year. How fat away is scent important? I mean is there an amount of yards where it becomes irrelevant? I ask because I'm hunting a property with tall pines in the middle that the deer don't seem to like. Also hunting with other hunters.
This IS great information and well laid out. You are not hunting prior or during the cold front, you hunting after the cold front when the temp gets back to "normal", correct? Thanks.
Thank you very much and yes, for sure...in place s huge priority on hunting right after. If you can get the temps to drop, the winds to decrease and the rain or snow to stop...hit the woods!
Jeff, I’m noticing today Wednesday the Baro dropped to 28.87 and rises up to 30.07 on Thursday but with 22 mph winds then come Friday morning it drops to 35 degrees from a low of 42 the day before. Would it be safe to say not a good day in the woods because of one main element “Wind”? Now on Friday I think this is the setting you prefer morning low of 35 colder than the day a before, low winds, stable pressure of 30.05 and sunny. Would Friday be better than a 22 mph day on Thursday? Just started reading your food plot book, love it so far...
@@perrybowers344 man, what a GREAT point! And this is why I did not include BP in my weather formula. BP is merely a reflection and not an indicator. I write in my new book All Weather Whitetails that the bp shouldn't even be considered...and what you point out is one great reason. It isn't much different than the moon. Although I think the moon alone...although a very slight indicator...is actually a tangible indicator (light), compared to BP. I hope that helps and that is great that you like that book! I hope you get a chance to read the rest too...
Whitetail Habitat Solutions that pretty much does, basically with all the variables and indicators the overall is stability. Post fronts we should be looking for stability with a drop in temps as a bonus. I will be buying more books and starting a note book with highlights. Thanks for all that you are willing to share!
Do you only focus on daytime high temperature variations or what about the change from 60F/29.6 baro/10 mph to a morning with 37F/29.85 baro/2 mph............is this enough of a difference?
Could you tell me is it good to hunt before the cold front or best after the front. Here in new york state where I'm hunting there's a cold front coming in tonight and the temps are dropping into the 40s and 50s. It's now 60

What lens are you using on the Sony a6300 for filming?
The up coming rut looks to be warmer than wanted weather but I'm looking for that drop in temps.
Will be heading out there and giving your system a go 👍, thanks Jeff

It seems Everytime I find a good temp drop, is accompanied by an increase in winds? So wait until it calms and starts to warm back up?
So question... I know its good after the storms and front due to stress and missing feeding times. But what about before? They can sense the storms coming and feed heavy before right?
Also, how long after the firsr morning of the cold front does it keep the deer active till it starts to warm back up possibly?

So as long as the weather it cool in the am during pre rut even if it's 3 days after the 1st temperature drops cold front is it a good time to hunt ,?

I agree with u 100%
