How to carbon fiber - collab with Ilya and come back in 2 days time...lol just kidding
stupid work always gets in the way of the fun staff!
have an idea for the channel, what about making a shish kebab while making a carbon fiber splitter, the tit would be a mechanic and a cooking show, twice as much audience
Interested in the diffusers, are they available
yes. go to my webshop. link in description. 4 diffrent options
Not sure the dimensions of that diffuser but I know you can get vacuum storage bags for Queen size mattresses
Yeah that would work!
What’s the name of the foam core???
EasyCell75 Closed Cell PVC Foam
A great collab! well done guys :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey! Great video mate!
I have 1 question, can this be done by infusion using that core foam? I have made some parts before but the lower face doesn’t get infused, and I believe it’s because the foam it’s not breathable and resin will not get to the first 3 layers of carbon. In your Kevlar splitter video I saw the foam you use have little holes. Will this be the help for the first layers? Can I make holes to the foam I’m using so they get infused?
Thanks for the tips!
Yes, absolutely. foam needs holes for infusion. can be drilled manualy.
Great video Ilya as always.
Never heard of the other chap though, might go check out his channel. Might not. 😄
😂
When you ran the vacuum pump to remove the air, how long did you have the pump running on that splitter?
Was it a matter of running the pump continuously for the cure time, and the droning noise was just edited out for time?
Or did you get to the pressure drop you wanted, measured by a gauge, and then shut the valve on the line, check for leaks, and leave it be to cure?
On this splitter I had it running for about 4-5h because we couldn’t eliminate all air escaping places. We tried. Once it cured enough I switched it off. But most of the time, YES. Get the pressure, shut it off, check for leaks and leave as is. In the ideal world lol
Hello friend, excellent work the truth all this content is inspiring my favorite channel the best videos🏎💥💥💥
Go for it!
No offence taken
Great video
cheers
great channel bud the big prawn should be well away with that try you got my full attention looks intrestin
Fingers crossed!
Just doing my front splitter with chopped carbon fibre
Noice!!! Need to try as well
Just bought all the kit to give this a go myself, thanks for the great guide video! What sort of plywood did you use as the "tool" surface? I'm worried about the resin keying into normal ply, even with release agent and ruining a project that's quite expensive in terms of materials.
Glad it helped. its phenolic ply (buffalo board) glass is best. but any shiny surface will work
Turned out very cool, was it worth it vs paying a shop to fab? I've been tempted to build a couple cf items
Considering the amount of time and effort yes expect a hefty price tag.
Really enjoy the videos I have had a few goes at doing carbon stuff. But think I need to employ you to do my splitter. 👍
Thanks! Could be arranged 😉
Can this be done without the vacuum bag ?
yes absolutely. but i would not advise it. you want to compress the layers.
@@RuskiWeldFab what if I put a flat board on the top and put weights on top of that to compress it?
yes that would work as well.
@@RuskiWeldFab okay thanks. 🙏🏾
If you spent less on carbon you could afford that tv you want 😆
the voice of reason!! 😘
Nice.. this is a disaster waiting for me if I try... Lol
You won’t know until you try 😉
20% is equivalent to what in usa language lol? 20psi?
its 11.76 pounds per square inch
Awesome video. I'll definately use this when making my own splitter.
Cheers!
Really enjoyed that. What was the weight saving vs the old splitter in the end?
ah! for that you need to go watch on Team prawn channel 😉 ua-cam.com/video/IxpqbOwuVcU/v-deo.html
@@RuskiWeldFab Cool, will check that out now 👍🏻
