Scottie Pippen in just 17 years in his career was top 10 in Defensive Player of the Year Voting, Lebron James in 22 years was only top 10 in defensive player of the year voting just 7 times. Scottie Pippen is a much complete defender than Lebron, He's a better one on one isolated/half court defender, a better on ball defender and a maybe a better transition defender than Lebron. Scottie Pippen in 17 years was 8 time NBA All first defensive team compared to Bron's only 6 in 22 years and throughout the whole time Lebron was in his 30's not one time has he been a NBA All first Defensive Team, but Scottie Pippen in his 30s did it 3 times (1996-1998). Scottie is a better perimeter shooter than Lebron and maybe a better 3 point shooter than Lebron considering the Rules even tho Lebron's 3 point % is higher but the rules assisted him.

Agreed. Lebron and Clutch sports created an entire marketing campaign to push him into the GOAT conversation. You take longevity away from the conversation, and he's nowhere near the greatest. And let's not bring up career stats. The league has legislated defense out of the game (defensive three in the key; no hand-checking; and players can now travel and double-dribble at will). I think if you were going to create a basketball player in a lab and ask him to play multiple positions, he's the 'body' you would come up with. But his game is far too limited, and I question his heart/desire. Lacks a mid-range and low-post game, can't (or refuses to) play off the ball, borderline uncoachable. He would never. . .ever survive in something like ithe triangle offense because he would be asked to do three things he doesn't want to do: give up the ball (and I don't mean at the last few seconds of the shot clock), create movement while away from the ball when he won't be the one shooting, and play defense (all the time). Sorry for the long reply, but if I had a game that I had to win. . .I would take Pippen over him, yes. And Larry Bird?! Bird's career wasn't as long as I had hoped, but at his prime he was a good as anyone in the history of the league.

For long stretches of his career, he wasn't even the consensus best player in the league. How can someone be the best player of all time when they weren't even the best in the league throughout their career?
