That "Victor" at the end was so sassy by the umpire
haha, father like tone, especially with the eyes hehe. But yeah he knows that Victor is more of the role model in this situation and he was trying to calm him down I guess.
😮😮😮
Hahhhahahahaha
Popov isn't wrong to demand for a reason why he is at fault. The umpire should clearly state the reason.. but the father in the end is wrong. Usually player gets yellow card with the rude attitude of the coach.
the dad needs to stfu. having a attitude isn't gonna help his son

Coaches aren't allowed to talk during rally that's why Viktor said why is he talking. Man people just love to assume he's rude. He is very sportsmanship player. Just because he gets frustrated and yells a lot he is never disrespectful to his opponent
"During" rally, yes.
@@Kamikazejets If someone was shouting as I was serving, I would get annoyed as well lol
@@RichardFangLiu what i mean is during rally, yes coach aren't allowed to talk (i'm agreeing to the comment). But after rally, why not? Popov coach are talking after the rally in this video, not during the rally.
He shld be complaining to the umpire not confronting the player or coach and making it worse..
If you said Victor is good at sportmanship you do not know badminton
We all know umpires never take back their decision.. so it is pretty much useless arguing.
What if , it makes an impact on upcoming points ?
he's not arguing ,he's asking what brought this decision (maybe to avoid to repeat the mistake)
Sometimes they do.. example when china vs malaysia, clearly umpires taking china stands when it is clearly can be seen OUT, china and umpires insist that is IN. but at the end of the day, the results is OUT. Malaysia got the point. They reverse the count.
@@thefallenarm589 tomato tomeyto
@@manaspandey35 it still remains a question right? Ahha
It seems like everyone is blaming Popov. But in my opinion, Popov was just expressing his disagreement with the umpire's decision and asking for an explanation. It's normal, everyone wants to win.
And Axelsen should have just stayed quiet. There was no need to get involved in the argument between Popov and the umpire.
thats right.. victor had no business opening his mouth.
That's definitely what I thought
Axelsen has the right to get involved popovs argument is delaying game play
@@sebastiansuarez2378 let them officials handle the situation. They are there for that. And if, if Axelsen wants to get involved (eventho he should not), he should talk to the umpire. Not to Popov.
All I can see is Axelsen seemingly wanting to look good or be a hero by trying to back up the umpire and make Popov look bad for arguing with the umpire. Of course, Popov and his father should not argue that much, but Axelsen should have just shut the f up.
@@Kamikazejets the umpire can't talk in this situation, now should we just leave popov and papa to argue? Just play the game
In such situations, i always remember Ramon Dekkers, muay thai legend from Holland. He said "just send your opponent to knockout, this is a clear win, without any doubt".
Stupid advice. Dekkers should be in an illegal match of martial arts and enjoy what he said.
Badminton is game of points. Losing point means it sucks OK?
@anhkhung0914 you don't understand what is sport, buddy. Sorry. 🙃
Ridiculously stupid, these athletes are the pinnacle in their sport, there is no clear knockout with this little room for disparity in skill at the highest level.
so they just need to slap the opponent with racket to knock them out? but i think you will get banned for that
~>Knocking the opposite out by winning with better manner and spirit!
You know umpire never take back their decision, never no matter what arguing you want do start with.
In Thomas cup 2024 umpire change his decision multiple time but after some discussion with service judges
The argument was between popov and the umpire asking for a reasonable explanation but technically it’s the umpires call. Axelsen did not want to waste time and didn’t appreciate the tone given to the umpire. Toma’s dad was seriously out of line in interrupting the game before serve and such. Popov was called as crossing the net (though he didn’t) and it may have made more sense to call obstruction of play on Axelsen for blocking the kill. I believe neither should be faulted, but regardless it is Axelsens point for the successful return and popov coach should be fined. So in summary the whole tension is pointless it was victors point anyways.
;!
Didn't appreciate the tone given to umpire is a bit rich coming from axelsen. As axelsen always shouts and does his antics against the umpire for their calls, especially the service judges. Axelsen should have complained to umpire about toma senior talking, instead of trying to show dominance and speaking directly to toma senior and playing the high moral card of defending the umpire. Toma junior was totally respectful throughout and was only enquiring from the umpire as any other player would do in such situations.
Word perfect mate
@@Naoki-ge5xpIt is a bit rich for you to recognise Axelsen’s past bad tones to the judges but not popov senior’s interruption. 😂😂😂
@@watchman835 Popov senior is not the player playing inside the court. He can do whatever he wants, and the umpire will take care of it as they usually do by issuing warnings. An on court player like axelsen should not interfere and try to be some sort of savior, which he ain't, as evident from his past shenanigans. Players should not try to antagonise their opponents by such acts. But the Danish have a huge track record of such disrespectful behaviour, which is very sad considering they are one of the best countries when it comes to badminton in Europe.
Temperament danish and karen french
Europeans are more vocal when it comes to conversing with the umpire and with each other. Asian players, because most can’t speak English that well, prefer to just raise that hands and get on with the game. Entertaining both ways.
I don't think it's about nationality or language... It's Patience.. Humility.
It's rare.
that's one of the reason, the other is asian people are taught to listen and do it.. while western are taught to speak up and discuss..
Including axelsen
Yeah language too, but mostly habit and culture, we tend to ignore conflict... perhaps that's why you european came and colon...............
the education we had in East North Asia is always telling us to obey to the authorities, like son should obey his father or students should obey to teacher, and the obey means you should never ever debate or question their thoughts or actions, even it's completely incorrect 😢
Victor's fault for sure. As per rules you can't block your opponet's racquet path as they are hitting the shuttle. This will happen if you preempt your opponent shot at net and stick your racquet in air to block your opponent from playing their shot. It is not allowed.
Once the shot is played only then you can go for block or return on your side of net / court.
This is my understanding, and yet players do that all the time. Why is it allowed?
It’s on his side of the net though
@@lukeskirenko What's even more frustrating that sometimes the judge will allow it as a valid defense and award the point to defending player and on other occasions they will call it as a fault and give the point to the other player. BWF has left to the will of the judge to decide if the net block is valid or not thereby leaving players in doubt whether they can go ahead and engage in block defence or wait until the shot is played at net to react.
The path isn't blocked unless the raquet hits opponent raquet. So if you block it on your side and you don't hit each other's raquet it's legal.
@@timo386 But what if the natural shot is to allow the racquet to travel beyond contact forward, and the oponents racquet is potentially in the way? Should the player be forced to play a compact shot, or should they just clash? Clashing damages the racquet and the natural instinct is to avoid it.
Gosh the overindulging parents in sports are really annoying ..i have seen so many of them throughout my career .
Let your grown up kid face the situation for god sake .
Maybe bey he's coach so he has every right to say
And overindulgence of victor in popov and umpire's discussion is lame too, why doesn't he mind his own business?
I don't think Popov jr was at fault for asking the reason though.
Popov's racquet crossed the net and hit the Viktor's racquet on Viktor's side, that's why the umpire called fault.
@@deepinderbawa7645the umpire need to say this at that moment...
@@deepinderbawa7645 thats an obstruction on axelsen part as long as the shuttle is in your part of the court you can hit it
@@deepinderbawa7645
So why was it so hard for the umpire to simply state that?
Oh man. Asian people play straight fwd. No drama. And we still world champion.
Nope. Not at all. It is about sportmanship. Like petergades, he is a great guy who does not complaint at all but this time I think popov is kind of right. He wanted to know what fault was that. But the umpire did not respond and just tell him to get on going.

True
Axelsen quite the arrogant person himself, though he comes across nice
This whole situation could've been avoided if the umpire simply gave an explanation/reason for calling the fault and Axelsen just stayed silent
They should have engle eye for net shots
I realized that any sports that western people play it's always going to be dramatic. But luckily badminton not so much western people playing but look at tennis. Tennis players are like 99% western people & look at how aggressive tennis is even though you don't get angry playing tennis but for some reason western people get so angry🤔
Ils sont chiants, l'arbitre dit instantanément pourquoi il dit faute "over thé net", et Thomas demande ensuite "quel genre de faute ?" Faut se déboucher les esgourdes.
Oo i wish all asian sport have such clear player voice so we can hear what they talk ❤
Is it invented in England
@@anonymed7898Nope Badminton origin in India....later modified by british
@@anonymed7898Badminton is believed to have originated from shuttlecock games played in Greece, China, and India over 2,000 years ago. The modern version of the sport is said to have been invented in 1873 by the Duke of Beaufort at his country estate, Badminton, in Gloucestershire, England. The Duke brought the game back from India, where British army officers had been introduced to an indigenous version called poona in the 1860s. The British colonists created the first informal rules for the game in India in 1867.
What’s the fault again? Can’t umpire just tell him?

So uhhh... What was the fault? It was never explained so it made sense why Popov asked for the reason, why is everyone mad at him??
Edit: why was it Popov's fault? Didnt victor netblock the return??? So wouldnt it have been his fault instead?
These European teams are more of drama..
France have attitude issues. ref just give card. coach cannot talk when player want start play. learn to respect senior. who win gold medal 2020 Olympics.
It should be axelsen’s fault for obstruction
The thing is during the time Popov was getting tons of points in different games with the same shot so it would have just been ironic
Stick to baguette
They're best on arguing rather then playing badminton professionally.😅
VA just defended his Olympic gold...can't really get better than that
Why are those umpires most overweight to the point of obesity? Hence they won't be very observant and often looked sleepy. Also just look at the lady court officer handling Laksa Sen injury during the bronze medal match.
The umpire said the fault was for Toma's racquet coming over the net. It's that simple.
The umpire was best placed to see that and Toma's father or coach (or was he both?) couldn't possibly see from his position, plus he had no right to challenge the decision.
when other player want take a smash or what so ever shot (gap between net so close situation), oppent cannot block with their racket. so, ref is correct decision fault for popov. badminton player should know this rules.
Be rasional, & just play the game
Popov said "my father" in a competition in a match. that's not professional
he should've said my coach
Why call these two AH everytime in your show? Are they the most intelligent or famous people? Just let them live their rotting existence.
Ko berlatih je la dgn lebih kuat lg popov.jauh lg standard ko tu.
Popov why you complent this game if you not like this game ok you can go out don't complent 😂😂😂
Usually I hate cocky frenchmen but in this case he is right. The umpire needs to immediately state the reason for the fault.

Umpire please explain what is fault. Players just want the truth

relax popov. you never be big as axelsen 😂
The actual fault is umpire
That umpire sure looks happy😅
Very bad attitude by victor dont like
There’re dramas in Europe sports, always. 😂😂
That’s actually heated but why was it popovs fault?
the umpire explains it, he said popov hit the shuttle while still on axelsens side. not sure if it was over the net but its at least what the umpire thought.just to be clear, than it doesnt matter that axelsen maybe did a faulty block.
Popov misunderstood the meaning.

There was no fault

It was axelsen fault tho 😂
it cant be axelsen's fault, because his racket wasnt over the net, he didnt touch the net and he did not move his racket with the intention to hit popovs racket.
