I picked up a 20 pack of clear lure wraps on Amazon for $21.99. They are nice because you can see what lure you have on without opening it up. They have Velcro around the edges like the BassPro version.

Bass pro XPS series is a huge disappointment for me .. I absolutely loved the 6 inch Xps glide and had a few and they were all defective.. everytime you casted it the glide bait would get stuck and hit the water and be stuck in a 90 degree angle .. Also tried on one of their big XPS ploppers .. caught one fish on it and the wire bent and it didn’t spin right .. I just have no idea why a store called BASS PRO wouldn’t spend the extra time and money to make sure that the products they put out were solid ! It’s cool that the XPS is cheap but if the bait doesn’t work it’s pointless .. If they are gonna offer their own products they have to do more research and development to make sure they are quality even if u have to charge more ..

That sucks that some of their baits are essentially defective. Some glide baits I have tried have had that problem of getting stuck at the joint area. If you sand off some of the plastic by the joint that tends to fix the problem. But you shouldn’t have to do anything for them to work effectively. I just use the lure wraps which I haven’t had an issue with.

@ yeah it’s just frustrating because the glides are actually really nice .. if you ever get a chance to try one , the 7 inch is a bigger bait but we change the hooks out on them to make them a bit lighter and they are a really slow sink so you can work them slow in shallow areas .. The 6 inch one’s were the perfect catch weight but they don’t sell them anymore because of the issues .. and yes , exactly what you said about sanding them down .. I took a file and sanded down the outer areas of the rear piece because when you pushed that tail section either way that’s the area that caught and locked it .. Not many bass wanted to eat the bait as it was tumbling through the water at 90 degrees .. When it locked in the air and hit the water it was like a bomb got dropped !🤣

Haha…..yeah that can be extremely annoying! I haven’t used any of the BPS glides but I’ll check them out the next time I’m at a store.

I am the lure buyer for BPS. Just wanted to respond to your concerns. First off I’d like to say that I’m sorry you’ve had some poor experiences. We do test all of our baits thoroughly before putting them on the market. Unfortunately sometimes things can happen during the manufacturing process. On the 6” glide, none of the samples we tested had the issue of the joint sticking but sure enough, once the product hit the market, by our testing, approximately 30% of the baits had the issue of the joint sticking. Since not all baits had the issue and since it was a relatively easy fix if someone wanted to sand down the joint, we decided to put them on clearance pricing instead of completely pulling them from the shelves. We had the manufacturer extend the pins slightly to avoid the issue and added a brush tail since some others were leaving the baits out in the heat and having problems with the tails getting warped. We’ve received the new 6” models and they will be available any day now. I hope you’ll give our products another shot and good luck to you.

Thanks for that response to one of my subscribers concerns. I’m glad to see that the issue with the XPS glide bait had been looked into and hope the new version meets expectations.
