- It's time to discuss Day 2 of Legendary, Integrity Toys' very first virtual convention! In today's video, we overview our first impressions of the Vaughn Sawyer-designed Style Lab collection, made up entirely of Fashion Royalty characters. The second convention day was topped off with the ever-popular Poppy Parker event (this time a "Gala" rather than a luncheon), which also featured two brand new dolls of the beloved character. Thank you for the recap of the convention for those of us cannot attend. I really enjoyed your presentation and appreciated your opinions. I am one of the original collectors who started buying the IT dolls when Jason was still in high school and he just started designing for Integrity. Maybe I am in the minority, but I really miss the old sculpts and screening. Especially the Monogram heads sculpts. I don't like the newer head sculpts and more "realistic" screening and because of that, I have pretty much shifted away from FR to Poppy only. In a way, it works out because it save me money and it is easier to focus on my collecting. Looking forward to your next installment.
Appreciate your input. I would loved for Monogram to have made an appearance. They were before my time but I admire them a lot. And it's good to be able to condense our collections, these dolls are quite expensive if we collected them all. -Sang

I agree 💯 on the Style Lab. the ONLY low point for an incredible convention.
That said there were a couple of nice dolls and outfits
I'm excited to see them in person and hope they look better then. The fashion are mostly lovely and was thinking of putting them on other dolls that I have. Thanks for watching! -Sang

Style lab was horrible, not even going to try to sugar coat. You are right... you can feel the gloominess as they revealed the dolls. Even the fashion is so dated. In the promo pics , either their eyes are wonky or their hair style. I’m just relieved in a sense that I get to save money. Love your reviews !
Definitely our experience watching that event! They are a bit better in person but they seem to have dropped the ball in terms of presenting their product to us in an attractive way. -Sang
When I got in the style lab only three fashions and two dolls were available. I only carted three fashions and even those were “backordered” after I checked out lmao. They did ship in the end though (I’m thinking there were actually extra sets 🙈).
:( it really sucked for tix holders who got in the later groups for the style lab. I heard about a lot of sad collectors. No one could have expected that the style lab would sell out. -Sang

Agree: It bugged me that some collectors were able to fast forward thru video events to gain access to pix of the Centerpieces & Giveaway dolls before they were to be revealed ... just to list them on ebay. These individuals ruined the surprise reveal for many of us. 👎👎
The Style Lab: IMO, the Virtual platform didn't help the debut of the FR items. Yes, the promo shots were lacking - REALLY wish they'd shown live videos of the IRL Dolls in addition to those pix during the event.
I was able to see 3 outfits live this week (late November) ...& the promo pix didn't do them justice. I think the fashions will be sought after once they hit collectors' hands.

I'd love to see, the face sculpts changed, altered to have a more real life-like eye, upper eyelid, upper eyebrow ridge, and overhangs, sort of like the vintage barbie has protruding upper eyelids. This I think, would offer a chance for entire new looks. In other words, a real-life like sculpted head but created on the original characters, so as not to change them completely. I am not a fan of painting on upper eyelids, etc.
Hahah I have to say: Watching your faces while you give the reviews are one of the best thing ever!!! Your reactions are priceless.. But Sang is everything!!!
The problem with style-lab was: the expectation.. Everybody feel that Legendary + FR means, reproductions of grails.. And the promo pics they used make it worse. When they showed the dolls, I only liked Kyori.. After the first day, i was wooed but the dolls, so when I see the StyleLab i were kinda speachless… but then, after watching the photos over and over.. I kinda dig Mademoiselle Jolie and Natalia… and so on.. But because the time frame.. when i was ready to buy them.. they were gone (the ones I liked). Vanessa is awesome.. but that dress not!!!.. I really love her.. Too bad she was a build doll.. That broke my heart!! BTW while Adele looks unfortunate on the presentation.. now that I have seen pics of her.. i kinda like her..
I am not a very Poppy fan.. I like some of the faces but normally they are not my taste.. and the big and intricate hair looks like probably will end up having massive hair… We’ll see.. But I have to say I love the presentation, and the inspiration on the doll line and David is lovely how he describes everything!!!

haha thank you! Expectations were really high and wild this year. People had different interpretations of what "Legendary" means. It would be hard to live up to that. I'm sorry that the style lab wasn't fully stocked for your time slot. Who would have guessed it would sell out, even with the polarizing reception. I saw the IRL photos of Adele, she looks better but still not for me. Thanks again, like always for tuning in! -Sang
@@ToyChat No, when my time spot came.. they have them all.. Just because I were thinking too much on the one i liked, She was gone before I hit buy.. But i bought others for some fellows collectors. I hardly liked like 2 dolls and 1 fashion.
No regrets for buying the entire Style Lab dolls. You can always sell the dolls you don't like.

I truthfully didn't love all (MOST) of the clothes - only Isha, Vanessa and Natalia had things that were my taste. Kyori's is cute but feels more appropriate for nuface instead - but I loved the dolls for the reasons you guys didn't: much like Janay we could never have 25 years without these original best selling sculpts so in a convention celebrating the history of IT and this landmark it would be blasphemous to not include them. And I love that more pop art style of face as well (Dynamite Girls had that a lot) so Adele was a standout for me (& in person collector photos have redeemed her as well IMO) but I get why if you were more of a fan of the realism mixed face style why you wouldn't vibe with them
For the Poppys I feel similarly to how you feel about style lab - appreciating the sourcing but not really coveting them at all. It's super cool that Lilac is using the same fabric as her original tho and I do like her pieces but not all in one outfit together.

That is very true. The style lab honored the past that paved the way for what we have today. I'm glad to see some of the original sculpts make a return, but was hoping for more updated screenings. Modern IT dolls have several additional layers of detail to their screening that the original lack. Was hoping to see more dimension to the screenings. -Sang
