2024 has only just begun and already the Red Magic 9 Pro has stiff competition! Yet another Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 gaming mobile has arrived, with a more compact design, upgraded cameras and the usual excellent features (plus a few new ones). The ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro, and regular ROG Phone 8, both boast impressive performance and cooling tech. The likes of Genshin Impact play beautifully, although it's not quite the perfect gaming experience.
Note that this Edition model comes with a bundled ICE cooler, as you can see in this unboxing. Older versions of the cooler accessory are not supported here on the ROG Phone 8 Pro.

24gb of ram, most of the user will probably run emulator like yuzu and mobox, someone gonna play red dead redemption 2 on this phone 😅
i hope phones get Strong enough that we can emulate Ps2 Ps3 and xbox Games Flawlessly On them !!

@@kimbonguno4741Phones like the Red Magic and ROG now are strong the only problem is except for the lacking games found in play store, native support for PC games are just non existent.

I always thought those glyphs were tacky. I mean don’t get me wrong I love cyber aesthetic so I like the idea but the uses they came up with for them were just stupid.

Shame Android doesn't receive many games to utilize all this processing power. Its mainly used to emulate games from decades old consoles.

I was about to buy this phone but the PC was tempting and it got me..
Camera looks decent as well
FINALLY having IP68 Water Resistance has pushed it over the edge for me. Wouldve loved it if they'd kept the 6000mah battery, but will definitely be picking this one up in the future 😀
as SoCs get more efficient bigger batteries aren't necessary
also it's the size of a normal phone now

@@anyketnaskar apples uses smaller batteries and still manages to perform with good SoT bcs their SoCs have a lower power consumption and they also have very strict power management
batteries take up the most amount of space for a single component and usually a higher capacity means more space needed
this year asus wanted to make their phone more compact so they had to use a smaller battery
6000 or more would be nice
@niveZz- you're missing the point. Apple does what they do but their phones last a lot less time gaming because at full bore their chips aren't running efficiently.
Ie: you want longer gaming time at max cpu/gpu speed and the only way to do this is with a bigger battery.
Looks great probably buy it this week £1099 its not cheap for the Pro.

Looks like the phone for me. Expensive as hell, but you don't get IP68 and air triggers anywhere else. Performance like that will be amazing for emulation, going to have a great time loading up the thing with all my favorites. I wanted to get into a dedicated, standalone emulation device, but it was just never practical; this would be perfect. Great battery for the easy stuff like GBA, more than sufficient for the hard stuff like PS2 and Gamecube, and can play all the android games out there too.
Just get an odin 2 for 370 bucks if all you care for is emulation,it's a beast

Hmm, i love the new look, much more discrete, but it removes the aeroactive portal and colour on the rear display, I feel like the colour is fine but i feel the aeroactive portal kinda made it unique, and theres definetly a way to keep the IP68 water resistance with the portal. I appreciate the smaller but more powerful cooler, the 7 ultimate cooler is really big, and i actually loved the subwoofer, which i dont think is in the new one. I also think they couldve kept the dual front facing speakers aswell.
Im probably gonna get this phone because i heard it lasts longer than a flagship phone i also heard that software updates do slow down your phone so what asus is doing is good and yes when i do get this phone im going to have this for 10 years becuase of the ansane performance and and the
storage i only recommended this people who truly care about future proofing there devices don't listen to those people that think software updates are good

Redmagic 9 Pro is so much better value in my opinion. Almost $500 cheaper with the same 8 gen 3 processor. Has a better design than the ROG phone and the only downside is lack of waterproofing. Still much better imo.

1 major os update is more then enough to keep your phone for multiple years but still up to date with the latest technology for 2 years redmagic wins hand down hope red magic 10 will be waterproof and dustproof also they promised security updates every 2 months fkr 2 years

it's just sad I won't be buying the redmagic 9 pro as the locked down bootloader unlocking and I don't wanna use their shitty oem software

Does the sound of the top speaker come out in a front facing direction? Because it sounds like the bottom speaker's audio comes out downward or in whichever direction you're holding the bottom part of the phone. It doesn't come out front facing direction?? 🤔🙃
You can adjust ultrasonic triger sensitivity to react instantly to touch ..
They are no longer ultra sonic.

I've been playing genshin for the last 3 years on my OnePlus 6T and my only problem was lack of space for new genshin updates... everything else ran smoothly

How does this compare with the redmagic 9 pro. Any deal breakers?
Many people have gripes with this phone but only one is "unforgivable" to me... they thinned the phone and added wireless charging at the expense of battery capacity. Then make a camera bump so monolithic you need a thick case to level it out anyway. Why not keep the bigger battery and lose the kick stand!?

Are the air triggers and aeroactiv cooler x triggers both mappable for emulators?
Only 2 years of support is a kinda lame. My Old Oppo find X2 pro got 4 years of support and that phone is from 2020. I think the new standard now +3 year of support with atleast 2 big OS updates.
Samsung S24 series is already leaked of 7 years of support.

As an OG ROG gaming phone user, I find the design really disappointing. Rog phones supposed to be 'gimmicky' and 'flashy'. Only gamers would understand how cool RGB lighting and design is.
I bought every single gen and grew tired of it. Love to see a new design cause that's be honest, gen 1,2,3 is similar and 5,6,7 are practically identical 😅 Looking forward to use the matrix on the 8 to play some jokes on my mates😂

Compare the speaker volume. I can listen to podcasts in the shower with my 5s. Also, I don't like the idea of covering the speakers or having to cup my hand like iphones or samsung crap.
No idea why they shrunk the battery. The screen hole makes me think I should just get a samsung especially with the lower rez screen and less updates. I might just buy a 7 and see if they can fix this stuff with the 9.

I am unsure if you still have the phone, but I wonder how it plays GTA: The Trilogy Definitive Edition on max settings. On Android, the game is stuttery compared to iOS, and would be nice for a gaming phone to run all the latest games.

They destroyed the gaming phone and for what. Punch hole display is bad for gaming. Bottom firing speaker kills audio enjoyment. Battery is smaller. No more customized RGB . And the camera still needs work..RIP to the best gaming phone.

I personally feeling 😢 bad about it it's changed and i can tell you the speakers are not that great and the 3.5mm jack inside of it doesn't have enough impact like rog phone 5 does watch GSMArena video camera is also not that much great and the price of it is so expensive what they had offer they compromised damn front firing speakers + jack with (dac n amp) and the camera is on screen is prity annoying to me previous design is much much better please don't buy it buy red magic series it has built in fan and Beats out rog in thermal throttling.
