I like your instruction-video´s and I know that SRV has a half step down tuned tuning but I think it´s a little bit easier to follow for the beginner if you tune the guitar in standard tuning

Why can't a beginner just tune his guitar to Eb? Don't be lazy

Great video but I take issue with a couple things! Firstly saying the blackstar amp is essential to get an SRV sound is just mad, (sorry!) he used LOADS of different amps and always sounded like SRV, did he even use the one you are talking about? Secondly and more importantly it's not just using a strat that's important, (I agree with that) but I'd say it's using it with the pickup selection to middle + neck at same time on the single coils to get the strat "quack" is 1000000000% more important than the amp (which you seem to have in the video, but probably forgot to mention it).

The Pride and Joy riff you played isn't correctly noted/played. I guess the excuse you could use is that your title says "Style", but it's still worth mentioning considering your tutorial was made specifically to teach Stevies style, yet it's not correct.

He probably did it because of copyright too, a lot of youtubers play songs a little wrong to avoid it.

Is the style incorrect, or the specific melody/rhythm? Because unfortunately quite often even tutorials that are protected *legally* by fair use are still punished by UA-cam, and a channel risks having everything they've ever done erased from UA-cam permanently. For some people that's how they pay rent and buy food.
It's not really worth risking losing all that just to teach songs note for note, hence they teach "style", as you pointed out, and anyone with a genuine passion and drive can learn independently or seek out volunteer, non-monetised channels.

Hey, thanks for checking it out. Just to clear it up, I did it "in the style of". The riff is loosely based on Pride and Joy, but it is not meant to be an exact copy of Pride and Joy. All the riffs and licks in this lesson are SRV inspired parts rather than actual riffs and licks from his own discography. It's to give the person learning a little flavour they can use in their own playing. Lick 3 for instance is loosely based on one of the licks he does at the start of Texas Flood, but phrased slightly different and in a different key.
Teaching a players style covers more than just playing riffs note for note. It's covering the approaches and ideas that SRV might have used in his playing. This style of shuffle wasn't exclusive to Pride and Joy either. He did similar shuffles in other tracks, so this was more about learning the technique and the feel of that sort of playing style.
Hope you enjoyed it none the less! Thanks for checking it out 😀

@@aaronwebb1548 I am not so sure he would get copyrighted for playing the riff correctly... there is certain factors that must be met for it to register but then again nowadays things are a bit hectic on UA-cam and other platforms I guess, so perhaps you are right.
Edit: Yeah, did a small bit of digging and it seems you are right. Seen a cover by Eric Wirsing got claimed even though he didn't play along side the actual track, merely played it note for note.

@@cokeman13377331 Yeah, UA-cam operates it's own laws out here in the wild wild net
