SAMESAME - upcycled glass products

SAMESAME ist eine von Laura Jungmann entworfene Serie aus umgeformten Glasobjekten, welche in der Glaswerkstatt von Cornelius Réer aus handelsüblichen Glasflaschen hergestellt wird. Die industriell gefertigten Glasflaschen werden hierbei mit handwerklichen Mitteln sowohl ästhetisch als auch funktional umgewertet. Die Industrieflasche bleibt dabei eindeutig erkennbar, doch wird ihre Ästhetik eine gegensätzliche: Aus einem standardisierten Massenprodukt entsteht ein hochwertiges, individuelles Einzelstück.
SAMESAME ist der Versuch einen neuen gestalterischen Weg hin zu einem alternativen Produkt- und Produktivitätsdenken aufzuzeigen. Doch vor allem ist es eine Hommage an ein zunehmend in Vergessenheit geratenes Handwerk.

SAMESAME is a collection of reformed glass objects, created by Cornelius Réer in his glass manufacture and produced from commercially available glass bottles. Those industrially produced bottles are being revalued both functionally and esthetically by means of traditional craftsmanship. Thus, the distinctive features of the industrially produced bottles are being preserved while their esthetics become contradictory: A high-value individual item originates from a standardized mass product.
SAMESAME is an attempt to show a new creative way to alternative product and production thinking. But first of all it’s a tribute to an increasingly forgotten trade.
