I love these old black and white horror movies
This is one unusually,scary movie and plot for the period time it was made.All of the actors were very good in their roles,and the movie shows this as it unfolds.Thank you,for showing this film.

I do love Bela Lugosi in anything that he did- but, I also love the others: Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Boris Karloff...

I am the MANIAC! I'm 48 and had to be the only 10 or 11 year old who'd rather watch B/W B-movies from the 30s and 40s, Universal Horror and Abbott & Costello, The Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, and the Marx Brothers! lol

The Maniac (the one throughout the movie) is actually one of the scarier villains in 1930s horror. It was very rare having a slasher killer in films of that period.

DAMN! This was one crackin' little old flick, being buried alive, a scientist being awakened from the dead, and a bizarre sub-plot of a serial killer, which under normal circumstances would be the major plot! ENJOY!
Wouldn't be Halloween 🎃🎃🎃🎃 without Bela Vincent or Boris effective 30 s horror liked the remark. I'd be the first man to fly without wings 😮😮😮 these old movies from 30 s 40 s 50 s and early 60 are so refreshing than All the bloodlettings in all these slasher movies of last several years and no amoral cutie nudies in an out of bed and a marathon of cuss words 😊😊😊
This takes me back to the old Saturday late night "Shock" TV movie on the then WTOP-TV Ch. 9 in Washington DC back in the sixties. They would run this movie about once a year back then and I always watched it. The black and white photography, nighttime scenes with long shadows, spooky house etc., and the seance scene were really cool. I always found the ending somewhat of a laugh to lighten things up a bit before going to bed. Perhaps that was its intent. The movie did mix in a bit of light humor. The detective and newspaper reporter were rather funny. This is one of my favorite Bela Lugosi films, right after Dracula and the Black Cat. He was really good in this. Too bad this film it isn't remembered as a classic.
I remember iShock. I had abattle with my parents to stay up and watch it. We had to get up for church the next morning. I still enjoy these old movies much more than the horror stuff today. The new ones are either people being torn apart by fake monsters or plots that don't make sense.

Another good, old house whodunit from the great old pre-Code days. Nice to see Lugosi as a red herring in a turban.
The guy at the end was scary - ranking just below a telemarketer.

At first it is thought the murders are committed by a man who plants newspaper clippings on his victims that they call the maniac-but it could be someone who wants the oh inheritance! Bela Lugosi was pretty good as the servant- but Wallace ford was irksome as that arrogant newspaper reporter thinks he could solve the mystery and get a scoop-so was that guy playing the police detective! Good movie 🍿 to watch! 😊😊😊😊😊

Good movie, but that black chauffeur takes away from the story line, much as Mantan Moreland did in some of the old Charlie Chan movies. All this does is to reinforcement the old stereotypes and distract from the plot. They should have had someone like Frank Jenks with his sarcastic but jittery manner.

Rinehart calls Lugosi and his wife heathens. These movies were so unwoke and politically incorrect. That's one of the things I like about them.

Yes, as long as they didn't offend you. I love these old films and tv shows, but I'm glad we've made progress as a society. It breaks my heart to see the amazing and beautiful Dorothy Dandridge playing a small part as a maid. 😔
