Great insights here! Surprised the kite foil is more annually than the laser (specifically 2 new lasers on two different continents).
Would be interested in some of the details of each line item. Example how many races is that registration fee? How frequently while you travel in 2023 and is that outside of Australia? Stuff like that.
Really interested in how your campaign progresses. Good luck!

The entry fees are roughly 4 regattas - the plan for regattas for this year is constantly evolving, so that was a bit of an estimate. Entry fees typically run around 300-400 euros per regatta.
All of my travel this year is outside of Australia - I am basing myself in Europe which minimises flying back/forth to Australia. All major regattas this year are in Europe (with exception of the Oceania Olympic Qualifier in December).
      Thanks for watching!

I think the formula kite class may have a slightly higher initial “material cost” when it comes to equipment compared to some of the other classes however I still think we have a much lower operating cost because we don’t have to ship boats around the world in containers or charter boats for regattas. Plus, despite all the other classes being one design, the richer countries/teams always opt to purchase multiple boats/masts/sails whatever it may be bc of known manufacturing inconsistencies which is also what the top kiters are doing so in the end I still think we are one of the cheaper classes. Great thoughts tho! 🙌🏽

Shipping boats and transport is definitely higher for other classes, but when you consider the amount we often have to pay in excess luggage, it's probably not that much more 😅. You can usually get a spot in a container for ~$1000 (depending on destination and boat class of course), and you're usually only doing that 1-2 a year.
Regardless, this video wasn't really supposed to be a class X is cheaper than class Y, but more of an insight in to the cost of doing this in general.
      Thanks for watching!

No coach boat, van or trailer helps! Not going to the Worlds is also a big cost saver 😅
