Just a heads up when combining Calamity and Fargo's Souls, once you get to post-moon lord content, it becomes pretty easy to defeat the Fargo's bosses since Calamity's weapons get strong really fast. The problem here is that accessories from Fargo's mod are extremely broken and will most likely ruin your playthrough to the point where crits do 5x as much damage, you can literally stop time, almost infinite wing time, and so many more (most accessories also stack which I'll get to). The problem is that these items are relatively easy to get because they only take vanilla weapons as recipes, or you can defeat bosses from the Fargo's mod to get other necessary items. For example, let's say you want to get the soul of terraria since it's one of the best items in the mod. It only took me a total of 1-2 HOURS due to the fact that you can skip all crafting of the enchantments and beat the bosses that drop them with your op Calamity gear. Lets say these bosses are too hard for another example. To fix that, you can just craft the Soul of the Universe which only takes vanilla pre-moon lord items to craft. You probably already have all of these by the time you're past moon lord and the accessory quite literally makes you a multi-class of all classes in terraria providing a variety of effects (For some reason, it never required the Vagabond soul which is insane). On top of this, items from the crafting recipe for the soul of eternity stack. If you're a mage you can stack the arch-wizard's soul along with the soul of eternity for whatever reason. As for a reference, I beat phase 2 Yharon in less than 3 min with a pre-providence weapon. I'm trying to wrap my head around this "unoriginal" criticism and I just can't. Maybe it's just the re-use of familiar shapes, e.g. eyes for calamitas and all the worms? yes, and there even is a lite version for the people who want a version that interferes even less with the main game, i use that mod all the time in my modded playthroughs
Definitely Thorium. Stays the closest to vanilla themewise and almost eveything in this mod is unique in one way or another. But, yeah, bosses are a bit to easy. But, overall, i love it
That’s technically in vanilla now if you play the “for the worthy” seed and it’s much bigger than the one in calamity. Just realized that your comment is 3 months old but whatever 💀.
HUGE TIP: Tale your time picking mods cuz once that world is created, there is no going back cuz if u uninstall, say, thorium mid series, ur ocean = x_x So ya make sure you know wth u doing
Here is a important tip: NEVER EVER play mods together. it breaks the balance and leads to certain mods destroying others. If you ignore my warning then just don't complain about the mod's balance. each mod is it's own thing and devs shouldn't ever have to deal with such a dumb complaint.
I love mixing them together, then turning on all of the hardest difficulty settings for each mod. In a weird way, this sort of balances out such that everything is really difficult, yet the player is still pretty strong. Considering that I use the 64 bit modloader, I like to have as much weird crap as I can in one playthrough.
i wouldn't reccomend people playing fargo's soul with Calamity, a lot of the fargos accessories are insanely overpowered compared to calamity stuff and can easily break the balance of calamity bosses and content
Yeah I wouldn't recommend it for a first playthrough, but maybe a second one or something. Depends on what you are after. If you want to preserve the natural feeling of Calamity, probably best to not do that.
I've played all of these and if I had to recommend 1 mod above all others for a great experience it would be redemption (and I prefer the alternate music track). Its quite balanced but has some of the most unique bosses, druid class is very well implemented and fitting, the abandoned lab is so well done, and its just so enjoyable at all points (especially some of the bossfights like akka and ukko)
Since I’m very new to terraria itself, I think thorium is a pretty cool mod, I’m gonna download and play it for the first time now! Thanks for the good explanation to every mod, it’s contents, etc.
Have fun! After thorium I would recommend something along the lines of Split, Spirit, Elements Awoken, or something similar. Maybe after that go for calamity or fargo soul mod as those are a bit more intense!
@@Obsoleek it’s been a while since I commented this, and I just finished the ancients awakened mod, I found it very unique and liked it. Now I’m looking forward to calamity!
Fargo's ftw! Nothing let's else let's you turn into a touhou boss than that. Combine it with calamity, it's pretty good. Even though you said not to do it, I have no regrets doing it.
A really promising mod that's currently getting worked on is Orchid if you're looking for a few unique classes to play, even has compatibility with Thorium and is pretty vanilla+ to boot
Let me just say to those people who play thorium and calamity together, Play both by themselves. Thorium classes are way too underpowered for late late game calamity bosses as they don’t get more upgrades.
The first mod that i completed solo was Elements Awoken, and it sure was a fun trip. Other than it having a few issues with earlygame balancing, its a really good and fun experience.
Obsoleek: *makes Calamity mod sound like it doesn't have interesting lore and story behind it* Calamity death mode with Supreme calamitas soul player (aka me): *ANGER*
Thank you for this video, it’s easy to understand and great for someone wanting to jump into modding. Over a year later and it’s still relevant, nice job.
Thank you for pointing out calamity's sheer unbalancedness with other mods, it's one of my biggest gripes with it Sacred tools is pretty neat, and enigma mod's a fun time, and I cannot recommend redemption enough
I think thorium is much better in multiplayer (specifically 4+ players), since the new classes work best with multiple players, and the bosses become much more threatening when scaled.
Thanks for making this video, I already beat calamity and thorium but this vid taught me about the mod of redemption which I have been looking at for a while.
I like a big content mod that is fun yet very challenging. So content mods like: Fargo's Souls Mod and Calamity are good for me. The Bismuth mod looks interesting too just because of the unique aspects in it.
This is a very good video, it covers what mods have in terms of pros and cons. I personally like thorium mod the best, as the textures, soundtrack, boss fights are amazing, but I love the calamity soundtrack too. You made bismuth mod sound very interesting, I definitely will try it out after I finish my bard playthrough in thorium :D
@@Obsoleek No problem, you are definitely my favorite terraria youtuber right now! I’ve always wanted to play a game where it story based, kinda of like an rpg. I’ve loved the sound of those, but since I did not grew up with them, having a terraria mod sounds absolutely fantastic :)
Spirit mod handles pre-hardmode content better than any other mod and feels right at home with vanilla. If you love exploration, that’s the mod to play. (Keep in mind the hardmode content is old and not up to current standards)
I'm just going to wait until Tmodloader is updated to work on 1.4 once that happens who knows what kinda mods there will be. 1.4 is not worth giving up just for some mods. The newer mods that will come to light on 1.4 are definitely worth the wait
MoR in 1.4 will be absolutely massive, and the endgame bigger than calam probably, so you definitely should wait since the existing mods getting a ton of overhaul updates
I really don't agree with you saying "you won't get the full expirience if you don't turn on revengence" because i think if someone played like thorium on expert then they are NOT ready for revengence calamity. The difficulty and different changes it adds is crazy. You also only did the biggest ones Other then that the video is great, I really like your editing! :D
Thanks for the support! What I mean by that is you miss out on so much content and the main bulk of the mod in my opinion if you don't have revengeance on, like the experience with or without it is drastically different from feel in my opinion. Without Rev in my personally opinion the mod doesn't feel nearly as good, but It definitely depends on the player. I started out playing calamity expert + death + defiled mode before I even defeated vanilla moonlord on normal, because I enjoy difficulty. I understand your point though, it isn't for everyone, but I do still feel like you aren't gonna get the full Calamity experience without it.
If someone want a casual yet realy game changing in term of mechanics you can try :THOVERHAUL Its thorium + terraria OverHaul For those who don't know,OverHaul barely add content but instead remake the core gameplay. You have a new moveset that comes really handy in the early game, every class works a bit different (and i said class,in 1.3 summon is not a class :D),lava fucks you up even more It also add a lot of features such as seasons, temperature, fire,or durability and here me out :EVERYTHING CAN BE DEACTIVATED TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR ADVENTURE! Eternity Mode (Fargo's Souls and Mutant Mod; it's important to download both) is great for people who want a more difficult game without changing the feel of Terraria. It's got a huge emphasis on killing things and getting their powers in the form of accessories, and feels great when you learn a boss's attacks.
Heading for Thorium once i finish Calamity expert mode with my friends, and then Bismuth, then we'll wait until they add Yharim and Draedon to Calamity, then do another playthrough
My favorite mods are probably Calamity and the MoR I do love ridiculous things Edit: That are balanced and NOT Fargo’s (it’s too confusing and chaotic)
you forgot that calamity and fargos arent compatible when it comes to mixing both difficulties, since golem becomes invincible and you can't progress, other then that yes it is very compatible
I remember that after doing my first every Calamity playthrough, i really wanted to mix a lot of mods together, the outcome of me mixing a lot of mods together was me destroying everything with Calamity and Shadows of Abbadon gear and Plantera being invincible for some reason (I eventually had to use cheats to get the gear i wanted from Plantera)
Yeah thats not uncommon by any means, and as far as plantera being invincible that's pretty odd, but things like that happen when many mods get involved
Your intro showcased the Gensokyo mod but the video didn't actually feature it? I just thought that was a touch strange. Edit: I noticed the mod was shown off on a previous list, based on some of your replies I'm assuming you didn't want to re-feature mods from previous lists?
Tbh I loved calamity when I first tried it but I really didn’t get stuck on any new bosses other then calamity. The bosses I died to the most was by far duke fishron and eye of Cthulhu in calamity due to their ai being reworked
just saying, if you play calamity and fargos soul mod together, the normal terraria bosses are realy stronger than the modded bosses, Golem for example, is literaly imortal so you need to turn off eternity or ravenger mode to kill him (Fargos/eternity makes the 2 hands imune to damage, so you need to kill only the head, and the on other hand calamity/ravenger makes the head imune untill you kill the hands)
I started a multiplayer terraria playthrough with Calamity, Thorium AND Fargo's souls mod. Should we have probably gone with one yah, but its fuckin fun beating all these big scary bosses with a bone trumpet. Plus we have a lot of people so we all can specialize in different areas
Calamity and Thorium go together well, since the sulphurous sea and the abyss generate on the dungeon side and the ocean depths generate on the normal ocean side. Thorium kelp planter boxes even generate in the Calamity space biocenter.
its not about world generation, more so how calamity gear is super powerful and thorium enemies and bosses are super weak, so if you use calamity gear versus thorium bosses, you will have a SUPER easy time
I personally don’t know what people found so he’s about supremes Calamitas, I basically solo’d the boss as ranged on a world with 2 players online on my first ever attempt
Literally me I appreciate most mods, and I will replay some eventually But Calamity feels like it's own game now, a free Expanded World DLC to Terraria itself Can't wait to see Empress of Light and Plaguebringer Goliath together
Yknow, none of these are as brutally difficult as I wanted it to be. I easily beat death mode supreme calamitas within my 3rd try for the battle. I’ve also been going through the eternity mode bosses pretty smoothly as well, with my only hurdle being brain of Cthulhu so far. Another thing, I haven’t gotten past moon lord yet, so maybe I’ll eat my words after I get there but I really don’t think so
I kinda want to get Terraria on PC, just so I can experience 1.4 (I'm a console player) and Thorium. Calamity I might try later, but it seems a bit complex
I can disagree with the statement that you shouldn’t play calamity with any other mods, playing with ‘alchimistnpclite’ and even ‘luiafk’ just for its arena builder (some might think it’s like cheating but idc) what I’m saying is the mod is slow to start but when you get going and read the wiki your experience will be much more casual for those who are interested but don’t hate themselves enough to play it on death mode
Oh man, installed CALAMITY and SPIRIT and THORIUM mods all at once... but my game cant take it, what will happen if i disable one of them? Please, which one should i disable
I attempted a playthrough of Calamity 3 times now and everytime something happens that makes it impossible. 1st time the dungeon spawned on top of corruption and killing eater of worlds had a pretty high chance to spawn the dungeon guardian too, plus the dungeon didn't have much in it. second time world got corrupted somehow and I couldn't open chests, and third time I made it to hard mode, but my world doesn't have any hallow, so I'd have to make my own and I don't know if that would make hallow caves or not, otherwise I'm pretty boned. All that on top of just typical bad Seed luck had made this pretty rough going.
Boi oh boi mod of redemption was really good , I'm just hoping it adds more contents in between latter bosses instead of adding more difficult boss post moon lord . I feel like it needs more Contents during the pre HM
well i have like 40 mods on my playthrough and it's pretty fun but i'm gonna just take all of the mods and make it into a modpack so i still have them somewhere if i actually want to use other mods in a smaller playtrough

Definitely Thorium. Stays the closest to vanilla themewise and almost eveything in this mod is unique in one way or another. But, yeah, bosses are a bit to easy. But, overall, i love it
Thorium is definitely the closest mod to vanilla I'd say there is for sure!
@@Obsoleek What about Tremor? It has the similar concept as a Thorium
2:50 Ahahahah i thought i was the only one who thought the King Slime was insanely bigger now
Calamity death mode does some crazy things let me tell ya
That’s technically in vanilla now if you play the “for the worthy” seed and it’s much bigger than the one in calamity. Just realized that your comment is 3 months old but whatever 💀.
HUGE TIP: Tale your time picking mods cuz once that world is created, there is no going back cuz if u uninstall, say, thorium mid series, ur ocean = x_x
So ya make sure you know wth u doing
Here is a important tip: NEVER EVER play mods together. it breaks the balance and leads to certain mods destroying others. If you ignore my warning then just don't complain about the mod's balance. each mod is it's own thing and devs shouldn't ever have to deal with such a dumb complaint.
it really depends but definitely don't blame any of the devs as its your playthrough :)
@@heckdongle9325 i can support that idea too 😂
Use the mod that gives you the option to make many sets in one character and have one set for every mod.
FMT: Im a Joke to you?
i wouldn't reccomend people playing fargo's soul with Calamity, a lot of the fargos accessories are insanely overpowered compared to calamity stuff and can easily break the balance of calamity bosses and content
Neve thought I'd hear it the other way around
Yeah I wouldn't recommend it for a first playthrough, but maybe a second one or something. Depends on what you are after. If you want to preserve the natural feeling of Calamity, probably best to not do that.
ye
Calamity: *Breaks other mods progression*
Fargo's Souls: My turn
Don't forget that the mutant has 377 million hp is you use calamity so you have no chance
I've played all of these and if I had to recommend 1 mod above all others for a great experience it would be redemption (and I prefer the alternate music track). Its quite balanced but has some of the most unique bosses, druid class is very well implemented and fitting, the abandoned lab is so well done, and its just so enjoyable at all points (especially some of the bossfights like akka and ukko)
oh man if you think MoR in its garbage state rn is good, youre gonna be fucking blown away by 0.8
Since I’m very new to terraria itself, I think thorium is a pretty cool mod, I’m gonna download and play it for the first time now! Thanks for the good explanation to every mod, it’s contents, etc.
Thorium is a good one, it's not too hard compared to calamity and other mods, which makes it great for beginners that want extra content.
@@IConveyMomentum yeah! I now use the flute class (bard) and I really like it
Obsoleek: what content suits your gameplay?
Me: EVERY SINGLE ONE
Let me just say to those people who play thorium and calamity together, Play both by themselves. Thorium classes are way too underpowered for late late game calamity bosses as they don’t get more upgrades.
Every style
I can get behind this!
The first mod that i completed solo was Elements Awoken, and it sure was a fun trip. Other than it having a few issues with earlygame balancing, its a really good and fun experience.
Obsoleek: *makes Calamity mod sound like it doesn't have interesting lore and story behind it*
Calamity death mode with Supreme calamitas soul player (aka me): *ANGER*
Thank you for this video, it’s easy to understand and great for someone wanting to jump into modding. Over a year later and it’s still relevant, nice job.
glad to help! thanks for the kind comment :D enjoy the mods!
Thank you for pointing out calamity's sheer unbalancedness with other mods, it's one of my biggest gripes with it
Sacred tools is pretty neat, and enigma mod's a fun time, and I cannot recommend redemption enough
Yeah that is definitely a big factor with calamity!
I need to check out sacred tools, i have played enigma and its quite fun :)
You should never play large mods together anyway lol so it isn't an issue.
I think thorium is much better in multiplayer (specifically 4+ players), since the new classes work best with multiple players, and the bosses become much more threatening when scaled.
2:53 Boi Thats some Thicc slime
chonky slime
Thanks for making this video, I already beat calamity and thorium but this vid taught me about the mod of redemption which I have been looking at for a while.
The rock monster in the thumbnail looks like he’s gonna start beatboxing with an infinity stone
Well said! Bismuth definitely has a unique experience :)
@@Skyyette Thank you man! i really appreciate it man! its never too late to start!
I love Fargo's soul mod combined with calamity and thorium :) Makes for a super long adventure from start to end if you want some of the most OP gear
Yeah, just don't try getting the soul of eternity you will become insane and more with other mods
@@sebasblos1 True that, I removed Thorium just for a little bit of an easier time, lol :P
@@robinb9688 yeah xd
Spirit mod handles pre-hardmode content better than any other mod and feels right at home with vanilla. If you love exploration, that’s the mod to play. (Keep in mind the hardmode content is old and not up to current standards)
my first mod playthrough ever (still ongoing) was calamity death mode using the rouge class, i hadnt even beat moonlord ever till this mod
I'm just going to wait until Tmodloader is updated to work on 1.4 once that happens who knows what kinda mods there will be. 1.4 is not worth giving up just for some mods. The newer mods that will come to light on 1.4 are definitely worth the wait
ima be honest calamity alone adds so much more than 1.4 and is a lot better
MoR in 1.4 will be absolutely massive, and the endgame bigger than calam probably, so you definitely should wait since the existing mods getting a ton of overhaul updates
"which content mod should you play"

I understand your point though, it isn't for everyone, but I do still feel like you aren't gonna get the full Calamity experience without it.
i must say that ohmygod your videos are incredible quality and your mic is really good and wow i cant belive you have less than 1000 subs
very much appreciated :D We are growing quite fast as of late so soon!
If someone want a casual yet realy game changing in term of mechanics you can try :THOVERHAUL
Its thorium + terraria OverHaul
For those who don't know,OverHaul barely add content but instead remake the core gameplay. You have a new moveset that comes really handy in the early game, every class works a bit different (and i said class,in 1.3 summon is not a class :D),lava fucks you up even more
It also add a lot of features such as seasons, temperature, fire,or durability and here me out :EVERYTHING CAN BE DEACTIVATED TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR ADVENTURE! Don't want durability ? disabled!
Don't want your torch to light up everything ?disabled!Don't want thunder putting your ass on fire ? DISABLED! i swear i love this mod you should totaly check it out its a wonder!
I tried Calamity mod as my first ever mod before watching this video. Let me say, it took over 50 tries to beat SCal and thousands of wiki searches.
Me too just that i killed SCal in my 3 attempt. I though it was luck so I tried again and killed her again I was like bruh then I did a second playthrough recently and i killed her in my 4 attempt

In fact Fargo’s souls mod needs the mutant mod to run, otherwise it won’t let you.
Heading for Thorium once i finish Calamity expert mode with my friends, and then Bismuth, then we'll wait until they add Yharim and Draedon to Calamity, then do another playthrough
nice! draedon should be coming out within the next months
Death Mode, Eternity Mode. A combination most are not prepared for. Once you achieve victory, a god you will become.
My favorite mods are probably Calamity and the MoR
I do love ridiculous things
Edit: That are balanced and NOT Fargo’s (it’s too confusing and chaotic)
Fargos is definitely chaotic to be fair, and Calamity and MoR are great mods !
:)
@@IamDrDapper When I watch videos on it, I can't tell if the projectiles are coming from the boss or the player.

Providence

me chillin over here with fargo soul mod thorium and thorium with eternity mode im four parallel unvierses infront of you
I'm proud of the terraria community and how far it has come, bravo people bravo!
you forgot that calamity and fargos arent compatible when it comes to mixing both difficulties, since golem becomes invincible and you can't progress, other then that yes it is very compatible
Loved this video man. You just got a subscription!
Welcome aboard! thanks for the support :)
Exactly correct :)
Me being bored:
*i'll take your entire stock*
I've been using spirit mod, mod of redemption, thorium mod and some Qol mods. Works fine for me.
Tbh I loved calamity when I first tried it but I really didn’t get stuck on any new bosses other then calamity. The bosses I died to the most was by far duke fishron and eye of Cthulhu in calamity due to their ai being reworked
Wait so DoG was easy for you?
@@boom-jr8vi indeed, the hardest boss from the mod that isn't in the base game was scal, i think i beat dog in 3 tries (revengeance)
just saying, if you play calamity and fargos soul mod together, the normal terraria bosses are realy stronger than the modded bosses, Golem for example, is literaly imortal so you need to turn off eternity or ravenger mode to kill him (Fargos/eternity makes the 2 hands imune to damage, so you need to kill only the head, and the on other hand calamity/ravenger makes the head imune untill you kill the hands)
Your underrated
Thanks for the support! Very much appreciated
I started a multiplayer terraria playthrough with Calamity, Thorium AND Fargo's souls mod. Should we have probably gone with one yah, but its fuckin fun beating all these big scary bosses with a bone trumpet. Plus we have a lot of people so we all can specialize in different areas
I'm playing calamity with fagos mutant a magical storage a few npc mods and the stars above mod
It's extra fun because I have barely played 1.4
Calamity and Thorium go together well, since the sulphurous sea and the abyss generate on the dungeon side and the ocean depths generate on the normal ocean side. Thorium kelp planter boxes even generate in the Calamity space biocenter.
its not about world generation, more so how calamity gear is super powerful and thorium enemies and bosses are super weak, so if you use calamity gear versus thorium bosses, you will have a SUPER easy time
@@Obsoleek bruh I STILL couldn’t beat the buried champion with calamity gear on expert mode, I might have a problem...
Man I love these mods but the only thing I hate is I'm spending half of my time on the wiki trying to figure out how to get some item
Not too far in but I appreciate the Epic Battle Fantasy music in the background :)
Personally I feel like the Split, Polarties and Elements awoken mods should be in this video but overall great choices for mods!
the first time ever ive seen someone use EBF music, also the Bismuth mod looks very interesting, im def trying that out.
EBF music is awesome! Bismuth is a ton of fun too :)
I personally don’t know what people found so he’s about supremes Calamitas, I basically solo’d the boss as ranged on a world with 2 players online on my first ever attempt
Gensokyo was a breath of fresh air
I mainly play calamity, just because it's basically the classic mod. (and just because I don't watch any other mods lol)
Literally me
I appreciate most mods, and I will replay some eventually
But Calamity feels like it's own game now, a free Expanded World DLC to Terraria itself
Can't wait to see Empress of Light and Plaguebringer Goliath together
@@feroxino1051 I definitely agree.
I’ve been playing mods for about a year my favorite mod combo is
Ancients awakened+joost+thorium=amazing play through.
huh epic battle fantasy OST.. very nice.
what's up with all Terraria mods having a desert pre-hardmode boss that's meant to be the first boss the player defeats?
to be honest i don't know, something about the desert makes it the first biome in every mod
At least shadows of abaddon doesn't do that. Its first boss is in the snow biome
I really recommend it! And I know it sounds complex, but taking the time to learn it for a bit will lead to an amazing experience.
I agree, I just recentely beat calamity as my first ever modded terraria playthrough and it was extremely fun
Please, which one should i disable
i'd say thorium, but thats only because i find the mod too easy.

Some more helpful mods
Recipe browser

@@Goum1 Yeah, I recently found out about them.
