It just struck me how incredibly unique this place is. It's a full-on manufacturing site for large scale production of giant rockets. Rockets have never been built this way - discounting military type lesser vehicles designed to go boom, I guess... But space rockets? Nah... they get built in secret hangers... one every few years or so... What a world. Thanks Elon. Thanks everyone in these photos. Thanks Lab Padre.
In a humid environment a new steel tank will look like that in a matter of months, this is normal.
It's nothing more than an outside surface oxidation that is easily reversable and preventable once a cathode reduction system is installed on the tank. No need to install such a system and run it while the tank is in storage or transit.
Agreed, this is not a big deal. That tank looks like it would be pretty thick walled. It was built in 1979 and altered and recertified in 2024. 45 years old. It'll probably be able to do a lot more years than that.
Someone in Boca Chica has some sandblasting in their future.
@@jameskelly1680Wall thickness is 25mm. That was one of the pieces of info that could be read off the label on the tank that Chief’s managed to catch with a really clear close-up photo. There was also a PSI figure (250). I’m guessing this is a water tank for the flame diverter/trench deluge system. It looks like a pretty big tank (volume and diameter were also on the label) so perhaps this will be enough on its own to supply the deluge system with enough water?
@@TheEvilmooseofdoom Probably not as that would actually remove material from the tank.
Once a cathode reduction system is attached, that rust will revert back to pristine steel... just needs a coat of paint and the cathode reduction system from then on to maintain tank/steel integrity in almost any environment.
Chief is a miracle for you Louis. In the right place at the right time. Tanks oxidized on the outside is deceiving because they are often thicker than they need to be for the application. Maybe for water usage. They must have passed the x-ray exam or they wouldn't be here. Never judge a book by it's cover. I'm so happy to still be alive to see this. Google did an update a while back and screwed up my Pay pal account. On my third bout of bladder cancer from agent orange. Hope to get things restored before long. Say hi to the gang and let them know I'm fighting.
Great photos Chief, Thank you!!
These are the best! I love the captions for each shot along with timestamp.
Thank you Chief! Another Great Video Update...
Great quality pictures in pixel count and sharpness but and also what's in the frame itself, thanks and keep up the good work.
I think he going to clean those up and use them for lunar starship test demos.
Thanks Chief and the LabPadre team!
Super shots Chief! Thanks!
Please make the text at the bottom of the screen larger. My eyes don't work as well as they used to. Great video, love seeing & hearing how things are going. God bless all workers at SpaceX. 🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️ 🫡 🇺🇸
Much kudos to LabPadre team! I'm all caught up-
Nice update LP!
Great job chaps! TYVM xx
Our pleasure!
@LabPadre to bad you don't reply to your people that are complaining about the music
@@rubenquintero1301 Bottom left of screen is a mute button. Mine's automatically set to mute, but thanks for letting me know there is music. Will check it out next time.
Great update...ty
Thanks for watching!
Wow that tank was made in 1979 no wonder the rust wonder what it for.
Otherworldly...
I've mentioned it before but the text is so small it's unreadable when using a phone. If it was twice the size it would be readable. Note that a lot of people don't use a PC or Notebook anymore, just a cell phone so maybe do something to accommodate this?
Very hard to read the text, close captioning very difficult for me. Can you please narrate?
I think they used to narrate and they replaced it with this.
Noice 🙂
the music is ok. Maybe change it up a bit. Photos are stunning. To say good job is not enough. Those photos bring me into that world. The entire process of building rockets while we all watch (as mentioned by others) -is beyond cool. Not at all like Launch Alliance.
Kinda hard to read the small text on black background.

Please tone down music and make wording different! Good footage but couldnt watch it😢
Isn't the point of the volume control on your device for taking care of things like that?? It's not as if you were trying to hear people talking over the music!?
Audio: controlled by you
Wording: description, date, location.
Hope this helps.
Audio should be a parallel sensory channel. Having to pause for fine print degrades the video, while we follow speech just fine with the visual.
The font could definitely be larger + easier to read on my small-for-2024 52 inch TV.
Bro what's up with the music it's depressing
