    I literally didn't remember this until I came upon this clip. I think I was 15. Crazy. I remember snowing briefly in 1998 too.

    Even though it was sad, it was cool to be able to look back and see so much of San Jose that has dissapeered forever.
    Thank you for sharing this valuable historical footage.

      That is sad not seeing your city as you once “knew,” it.

    Thanks for taping this. I was 22 when this happened and had just given birth to my son. He's 24 now and I just showed him this footage. He is shocked that this could even happen in San Jose. I believe this also happened in Alviso circa 83" when I was about 10 yrs old. I remember this as if it were yesterday.

    This is amazing footage. At the time I lived around the corner from the Virginia lightrail station. The Guadalupe River was literally in my backyard.

    I kind of remember this. I was living on the west end of town out by Campbell back then. I am not sure, but that may have been the same storm system -- it was around that era -- where I saw these really dark clouds, almost black in color, to the west when I was driving along Stevens Creek Blvd out by Cupertino. And I do remember it was raining really hard.

    I remember this. Penitencia Creek became flooded and my elementary school became partially submerged in water. My street was like a river

    I live in san Jose, that's crazy because no natural disasters occur here anymore other than small earthquakes. Mild, or crazy natural disasters are pretty rare here. So this is really crazy to see. Also this is probably one of the only crazy natural disasters that happened here.

      There was a huge flood in east side just a few years ago.

    It got like that in the early 80s. Some of us are older. The wind is what I don’t remember being so bad. But again I lived on second floor of Victorian home on delmas. When willow street was open on both sides of bridge going towards sacred heart church it always got flooded there and on alma by alma bowl.

    Hi Andrew. Can we use your video across NBCU platforms with proper credit to you?

    • @DonCalzone99
      @DonCalzone99 7 років тому +3

      Yes, you have my permission. I think it should be clear that my footage shows the Guadalupe river flood, after which San Jose did a great job of redesigning the flood control in that area, incorporating concrete channels, pedestrian trails and such. Likely we'll see some similar flood control infrastructure improvement for Coyote creek. If you need to call me I am at 408-483-7180

    San Jose doesn’t progress at all. It’s almost been 30 years since this was recorded and it looks The same lol. This probably will happen again in 2023 since we’re getting a lot of rain and SF already flooded a few days ago. Watching so I can be prepared 😅

    Santa Clara street looks the same I’m 2020 lol on any note if it flooded like this people would loose their shit and it would be car crash left and right. No one knows how to drive now that it’s dry AF. I’m gonna film how it looks like on 2020 and upload it to the internet or whatever in 2040 lol
