  • William Lawson's is a blend that very much leans into the grain component. But embracing it for what it is we found a very enjoyable wee dram here, with a judicious application of ice...

i like the deveron so, i buy william lawson (made of deveron) and add a spoon of deveron 10 into the glass.
    result is decent.
i don't write often but i really like your duo and channel :)

Not bad for a bottom-shelf scotch blend I find. Can even be sipped neat in a pinch. We get it bottled at 43% in my country, so maybe that helps a bit.

Being in a territory that gets a higher bottling strength is always a plus

Nice to see an affordable blend. I haven't seen that bottle before, but am always on the lookout for bottom-shelf blends. I enjoy Dewar's products. The 21yo blend was a fair price, and a great dram if you ever encounter that bottle.

I've seen the 15 in passing, but never a 21! I'll have to keep an eye out.

Gentlemen can I please ask, when you’re not doing whisky reviews and you’re having a leisurely drop of whisky do you still drink from the stemmed whisky tasting glass or do you prefer a different type of drinking vessel. If so, what do you prefer.

Certainly Carl. When we're enjoying a single malt or rum, we'll reach for a Glen-cairn glass pretty much exclusively. If I'm getting a blend on (or an occasional naughty single malt with ice) then I like a nice tall and thin tumbler, not much wider than the large ice cube I'll put in. That stops me from tipping in too much whisky, and ensures it cools down very fast without becoming too diluted from melting ice.

@@TheSingleMaltReview Thanks for that. I use a Glen Cairn myself

I don't think I've ever seen a William Lawson with a number on the bottle down here, but I'll keep an eye open.

I had to get a bottle of this just because of the name sake as my ancestor had the name but have not opened it nor did I get the picture of the lunch money fella, just plain label.

Great stuff fellas. You don't have to taste it to know what it tastes like. The label tells me that. I've seen bottles of this kind of thing sold all over Europe. Young grainy stuff in tired casks tasting like 'whisky'. I don't mind a decent blend from time to time but this kind of thing is slightly concerning. It's cheap alcohol and is it any wonder that Scotland has a catastrophic level of abuse.

Why are you reviewing in a wine glass?

    • @TheSingleMaltReview
      @TheSingleMaltReview  3 роки тому +4

Those are XL5 tasting glasses. We use those because they hold the whisky higher above the table and make the colour easier to see on camera. For everyday dramming we use Glencairn glasses like everyone else.

I do not agree with this review.
There is no "bite" in William Lawson's !
You forget the very strong and nice vanilla.
And last of all : William Lawson's doesn't need ice at all !! That's a big mistake.
    Cheers !
