wow, I'm budgeting myself 1,500 for a brand-new telescope for astrophotography, and this is beautiful. Maybe, going to keep browsing until then this is top of list.
The size and weight are 2 that pop in my head first. Granted this set up is not heavy when in 2 pieces, but it’s certainly awkward to carry around. Plus it takes up decent sized spot in the garage. Other than that, the 2 eye pieces this scope comes with are so-so. But they are perfectly fine to start out with!
Thank you so much! I'm thinking about getting an 8" Dobsonian as well, great to see someone building it. How much time did it take you? (If It's in the video, I've missed it, sorry) All the best from Germany :)
I highly recommend the 8" dob as it's a huge light bucket and still fairly portable. All in all it took me about 3 hours (with a couple of breaks thrown in). The instructions that came with the SkyWatcher were pretty easy to understand. I do recommend using your own tools if you can though, because the ones that came with the scope were tiny and left a lot to be desired.
@@AmateurAstronomyStormchasing Thank you! Wasn't sure about that, now I know! I also watched your Jupiter & Saturn Through 8" Dub video, nice shots you make there!
I still have and use the little yellow screwdriver that came with my 250 (10"). And the scope! Served up great views of the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn.
I have a problem with focus, it seems that the lens is too far, but I cannot get it right without the aluminum adapter. Did you have the same problem???
Does your dob suffer from stiction? I have one of the flextube 8" model which has the same base as yours but the movement is not smooth. I have a hard time tracking objects :(
Hi, I have a collimation-related question. Can you see the edge of the primary reflected in the secondary mirror when the scope is completely collimated? I've just bought one and finished collimating it yesterday. I can see part of the primary clips in the secondary when the focuser is fully racked in but not the edge of the primary mirror. I was wondering if that's normal for this telescope. Thanks
Hi, great video thanks. I’m looking at buying this but I can’t see anywhere that it comes with a collimator. If it doesn’t I’ll order one at the same time.
Hi again from Geoffers in the UK, thanks for you reply, to the other video of your astro photography, I have just watched you assembling the 8 inc dob Brilliant well done Thanks, sorry but I just can't catch you First name, keep up the good work

Just got this model, and it's still in the box. Thanks for this!
Hope it helps, good luck and clear skies!
I'm deciding if I should get the 8 inch version from SkyWatcher or the 10 inch version? Much help would be highly appreciated
Thank you my friend, been looking for a decent video to help me set this up, and finally found one! 👍
I'm here for the cats.
I don't blame you!
Is it difficult to open the bottom to clean or change the mirror ?
Might be getting Dob 8" for my first scope!!! Can you list some cons with it please?

How does this compare to the apertura ad8 dobsonian?

@@AmateurAstronomyStormchasing What are the two knobs for on either side of the eyepiece? Good video btw!
@@einstein0808 Thank you!! Those are the focus knobs. They are a little big a bulky, but feel great!

Great video! I just bought the same model and it's very useful :) cheers from Italy
I just received the Skyliner 200P. I received no base or assembly instructions. Did the base come in a separate box?
Yo I just got this dobsonian watching your vids. 🤙🏽

Eh, it’s definitely not the smoothest thing in the world :(

Thanks for watching! It does not come with a collimator. I bought a Celestron cheshire collimator along with my scope. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!!
good video, greetings from Colombia
Thank you!
mine doesn't rotate freely i have to kinda push it hard it has some friction when it rotates what am I doing wrong?any idea
Nice!
So if i want to get a 2* barlow lense for it any one will fit or there is a specific measurement? are they universal?
can you put wheels on the bottom so you can move it ?
You definitely could. If you plan on keeping the scope on a driveway or something, it would probably be a good move.
Hey :) just curious , how tall are you?

Cat sleeping in the box - standard.

Kitty ;)
Don't let their looks fool you! ;)
It's too big
