It was so great to see you and Kriksis together in your video. What a great combo you two will be in your sketching date. Am looking forward to seeing that. I love your videos particularly splodge and scribble work. Thank you so much for a fabulous channel.
Oh wow that was a gorgeous trip to visit the show & I adore how you did the color wheel charts. The colors are so beautiful & amazing. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Wow! A fun little meet-up and I love the teacup/mug stickers! I only recently learned of Kriksis’ channel from Natasha Newton (and my subsequent journey down the rabbit hole of looking at Sendak rolls lol). Thanks for sharing her art exhibition!
Jam packed video! Loved Kriksis's work, theres a simplicity to it that would look great in childrens books. Kurts work really felt like oil paintings, such beautiful landscapes I always admire with oils. I would really like to see you pick one or two of your wonky color pie charts and use that cllor scheme for a few paintings. Like when you throw down a random paint later first, then add details on top, slowly developing the painting while using the three paints as your range of colors. Your painting of the Scottish lake came out beautifully. I really loved seeing the details and deepening colors that developed in the final piece. Gorgeous work!!
Cool , so glad you met up with lovely kriksis and super cool that you’re both meeting up again to do some sketching, you need to meet up with Mel as well , so happy for you all to be together. All amazing Artists xx
Love that you met Kriksis! I follow her and Mel Chadwick and Natasha Newton. I love that you all have unique styles to draw your collective landscapes.
Lovely little video to wake up to on a Sunday morning 🙂 Started my very own "wonky colour wheel" sketchbook yesterday and hope to do one page a day until it's filled. Also, your Lake painting was beautiful after you'd "elevated" it by going mixed media. Never done watercolour over pencil but it absolutely worked with gorgeous effects. Again, cheers for the insight 👍🏻
You've got to Sunday first! (I'd barely registered I'd got to Saturday yet!) That's so cool you're doing the colour wheels too! I've not tried watercolour over pencil before, and it kind of puddled a bit over the top, then stuck in some areas. A fun experiment anyway.
@@helencryer as far as my Sunday goes thus far, it looks like a beautiful day here in Newy but just been down the beach and it's gale force something cos I got out the car and literally got blown over 😆. Methinks I should stay in the studio today! Enjoy your Sunday wen it arrives 😎
As usual like sighting with you. Also thought the Kriksis paintings lent themselves to a childs‘ book. Sweet. Lovely to see different styles, also in your new book. And, I really like your wonky wheels, so colourful.Thanks. ( PS Read your title wrongly as a Tuber ( potato etc. ), not utuber!. ) Must learn to read!
A lovely video, will be checking out kriksis, loved her work. I’m loving the wonky colour wheel charts, you learn so much about your paints and they look great all together in one book. I have so many photos of Scotland,I must pick one to paint, you’ve inspired me once again, your painting was great.
Your videos are always such a treat! What a fun art showing and then your book and swatches. I just got home from an all day trip to North Cascades National Park. I had tons of art supplies with me, but had to wait for a pilot car to get past a forest fire to get to the trailhead for my hike so I ended up coming home with some photos (Diablo Lake which is about as turquoise as water can get) instead of doing plein air time (which is ok....the hike surely burned enough calories to offset the ice cream on the drive home? 😅). I love all the ocean settings you have for inspiration Helen!! What are your general feelings on folk art? I'm a bit fascinated that you like realism AND abstracts AND art that reall falls under a "folk art" sort of style seems to appeal to you too. Loving the eclecticism!
That sounds like quite an adventure though, and the lake sounds gorgeous! I don't really know how to answer that - there's plenty of folk art and realism and abstract that I DON'T like too - I often feel bad, because I just have instant strong reactions about whether I do or don't like specific pieces of art, and that's that - I like art across all sorts of styles though.
Loving your videos esp the splodge and scribble ones 🙂. QUESTION: Where do you buy your faber castell gelato's. they seem very difficult (and expensive) to get in the UK. Thanks so much 🙂
Thanks! I buy them on Amazon, and yes, they're expensive, as they're no longer being produced. It might be worth checking out other companies' children's paint sticks though.
Hello Hellen! It was so lovely to meet you in person, thank you for coming to see the exhibition!
Oh, you too, definitely! I would genuinely love to!
What a lovely location for an exhibit. 🌸 Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏽
Looked like an enjoyable day. I love Kriksis work and channel. I really like picture you did with the round pond. Thanks.

Thanks! I've got a separate file on my phone now, called 'Photos to paint' and when I've got a spare minute, go through old photos and add some to it.
@@helencryer why didn’t I think of that, 🙄🤦♀️😂guess who’s now got a file on her phone of ‘photos to paint’ 👍🤗

Wow you and Kristiana look alike. You could be soul sisters
Haha, that's cute! Though I'm not sure how flattered Kristiana would be by this!
@@helencryer lol I’m sure she would be flattered ❤️
