Excellent point about the mix ratio. you always got those no it all's saying how they mix the fuel. That mower is a beautiful piece of history. Thanks for sharing
i just started looking for 1 today, found 1 out of town, 45 miles away, going after it on my day off, hoping i can find parts to rebuild it, not looking for restoration, just a great running example, the 1 i found looks similar to this, and today is mothers day, 3 years after you posted this video, i remember having a few in my youth, just wanted a fun old lawnboy to use at home in weekly duty. i have 1 briggs i found i will use in 9 years, it is a 1961, total NOS never ran, but in 9 years i turn 65, and will use it, as it is a duplicate to what i started mowing yards with when i was a child,
I've had three 1956 Lawn Boy & Lawn Cruiser models 2 were 18", I still have a 21" Lawn Cruiser with the floating (sprung) front wheel. I still have several motors and parts. I want to restore that pup if I can locate gaskets and the crank seals! BTW, we have a local school that has a class set (40) of ironhorse C-10 motors plus several cutaway motors for their shop class!
16 to 1 is probaly correct as it does not have needle bearings, but a plain bronze or similar bearing. Nice mower, I like the ribbrd wheels will have to get me a set when I restore my 56. Not sure if I will paint it, I belive it just needs new seals and maybe points; but it has been sitting a while.
No sorry, I have 5 or 6 of those to do yet, I have over 150 Lawn-Boy mowers still, and have yet to go on my yearly pick, so I don't buy off of eBay unless its parts. I'm not selling any that are not restored, so got to keep my inventory built up, It took over 5 years to put it together where I have it today.
Nice mower! I am trying to get my grandfather's Lawn Boy Model 5000 (1956) running. You said 16:1 gas mixture; do you use lawn boy 2-cycle oil or SAE 30 (recomended by the Model 5000 manual).
I use Outboard Marine Corporation engine oil, original manufacturer of Lawnboy lawn mowers. Evinrude boat motor 2 cycle engine oil and Evinrude / Johnson are the manufacturers of Lawnboy. Lawnboy ashless oil seems to me not to have all the good 2 cycle lubrication needed! Meaning I prefer one good running 2 cycle to smoke a little.
I use Shell advanced Ultra synthetic in my iron horse only because I get it very cheap .outboard oil is very thin design for cool running engines water cooled
They're no paint codes, you have to take yours to a paint shop and let them match up your color. This is red and green and he added a shade to each about half a dozen times dialing in the color, again no numbers no codes, just picked out of a book they had colors that seemed close and then they had to dial it in. Decals are on Ebay just key in Lawnboy decals
@@CharlieMack Ok I have a old lawnboy like yours identical actually a old man traded it in to us back in 1978 on a new lawnboy. we were a motorcycle/lawnboy dealer and Ive still got it decals are still readable
Great. I bought this mower at 13 to start my lawn mowing business when I was a kid. Wonderful to hear that sound again.
Hi Charles, it's Fred from work. 1955 is the year i was born, amazing it now runs like new.
Hi Fred!
May you always find the parts for these Lawnboys. It is truly an American masterpiece. God, bless you and your household.

I LOVE your videos on collectible lawn mowers. I also LOVE 2 cycle engines. They sound AWESOME.
Outstanding!
