I would have relished that route too. My eyes are not as they were and lavish sun and glare would have been difficult--but the calm gray sky and muted landscape: perfection.
Wonderful as always, Jeremy. It's so great to be sitting in my nice warm house, drinking pseudocoffee, but gazing out at the snow and deer with you Looking forward to your out-of-train adventure up there. Great walls of snow? --charlie, california
Heh, right! It also sounds a lot like the word "wakaranai" which means "I don't know". A common "dad joke" in Japan that I can't stop myself from making all the time
I love Hokkaido in winter havent been to Wakkanai yet plan to next summer. Asahikawa have been twice its beautiful .I went to Abashiri for drift ice but weather was bad. never saw it sadly I went to snow Festival in Sapporo and Asahikawa twice .I love Otaru .My favorite is to take train in Hokkaido in snow so pretty scenery .I never video if I go again will .
Jeremy, I have to ask, on behalf of your many fans: What do you do for a living and what specifically is your connection with Japan? From an enthusiastic fan.
I moved to Japan to teach English, for fun, for a year or two, and ended up staying. Right now I'm on a break from teaching and just concentrating on making YT videos. Besides being a long-time resident, no particular connection with Japan - never read a manga or watched an anime, for example :p
Very nice traveling video this one too. I like how Japanese names are pronounced just like Finnish names, exactly like they are written. 😂 I hope you come to Finland someday and not only passing by like on the Norway trip
Yes!! If it were a guitar I could maybe have faked my way at least through a few more bars, but I'm pretty hopeless on the piano. That station needs to consider the wandering Sabbath fan a bit more...
@@T1DWanderer Never a real Sabbath fan, more Queensryche and Priest. Geoff Tate's performance in 1984 Tokyo with Take Hold of The Flame has to be the best I've ever seen. See I thru in a Japanese reference to make this comment relevant.

Ha ha! Playing Black Sabbath in Hokkaido on a winter's day - Vol 4 Snowblind! Nice!
Wow beautiful scenery! Lots of deer! That snow at the end was coming down hard! Brrrr....
Thanks for this amazing trip! Really enjoyed this!

It was great. Really looked like the ride felt; I was lucky with the timing
This is the Japan I want to see.
No megacities, no urban jungles, just plain old picturesque rural country.
Thank you for presenting this beauty.
Oh it's so nice to get out of Osaka sometimes...!

Great *piles* of snow, I'd say. And a bunch of it falling from the skies on me!
also it sounds funny too, like 分かんない idk 😆
😄
That was fun to watch. Really well put together, the editing is outstanding. Great to see how much you enjoyed that ride. It was beautiful!
Thank you!
I also like the sound of Wakanai, sounds like an exclamation of suprise, anticipating a pleasant suprise, but not quite 100% confident.

I think about Finland all the time! Would love to spend 2-3 weeks (or more) just driving around Finland.
Feeling happy in my pain
Icicles within my brain
