- Lasers are one of the most dangerous tools for one big reason --- fire.
In this video we show how quickly a fire can start and what you can do to stay safe.

That's amazing! The video is really vivid and talented. I must say that I've learned a lot from it.
Styropyro has a good laser safety channel :P
Hi guys , what's the best setting (speed) , to avoid fire and get the best result
Attempt this video but with the laser slightly out of focus. That might net the results that you are looking for!
I usually find that the most powerful beam is when it is fully focused. You can kind of see it in the video when I start moving the paper towel around and it raises up some that it doesn't light as quick.
@@makeorbreakshop I agree with your statement, I don't run my lasers out of focus very often so it's more theory than anything. The idea is if the laser is slightly out of focus will increase the odds of catching thinner materials on fire, such as paper. The idea is that the laser won't pierce the paper as fast causing more heat buildup as the paper isn't being vaporized as quickly. Either way, the video did a great job highlighting the potential dangers of laser cutting. (Might test this theory although my Co2 machines are 30w and 100w)
@@jeffreyschwab931 ah gottcha, great point!
I have the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro. It is on a bed of tile. I also keep a full-sized fire extinguisher near it. I very much look forward to your video on the air assist, especially if it is something I could 3D print for it.
I'm sure you could 3D print the attachment, you'll just need a small compressor for the air!
@@makeorbreakshop There is a guy on UA-cam who created a printable air assist for the Laser Master 2 but it won't work with the Pro 2. Unless he updated, I'll have to check.
Great video sir! I just received my laser master 2 pro S2 (they upgraded it) and it has a flame sensor plus emergency stop. I think the laser is fixed focus now…
I accidentally burned “Hello World” into my coffee table when I was testing it out for the first time.
I’m looking forward to your video of what type of air assist module you’ll be using.
oh wow I didn't even realize that had a S2. A flame sensor would be perfect for this!
Where did you buy the S2 version of the pro?
I have a granite countertop section for mine.
Great idea!
When we are talking about how dangerous are laser cutter, after smoke my second thought is fumes.
I hope that the green googles You waved at 0:53 are not what You used as a safety googles for blue laser, right?
Is there a certain room temperature that you need to work this machine?
Thanks!
You might want to test the Sculpfun S9, which is supposed to be equivalent to a 90 watt CO2 laser.
It is not. Even the 40w diode lasers don't have the power of a 90w CO2.
I buy rags that are ripped up T-shirts at the big box store. I cut them with my laser to a more manageable size. The secret is, cut them in one pass or they will catch fire and wear safety glasses because cutting white T-shirts will brighten the whole room! I'm using a Falcon 2 40 watt diode laser with air assist. The laser has fire detection.
I have my 1st Fire Yesterday 3/4 Plywood just went up in Flames.
Do not look into beam with remaining eye. 😎
Seriously, I don’t trust them to be un-enclosed. Put them in a box… doesn’t have to be fancy, just light-tight.
What is its wavelength? I see you are wearing green googles but the machine has an orange shield?
Los colores de las gafas tienen que ver con la rosa cromática. Unas gafas naranjas se usan cuando el color del laser es azul.
@@namunos yeah so strange to use two different colours for protection from the same laser?
The major fire is when the soot gets build up in the laser module.
A water spray bottle nearby. That was a good idea.
If that's the most dangerous machine you have.. consider yourself lucky.. my wife likes to refer to most of my tools as "spinny blades of death"... Most don't bother or scare me.. the jointer however is terrifying, and extra precautions need to be taken.
Ha very true, my table saw still scares me the most. But I would still take say a fire started by a laser as the potential to do the most damage.
I guess you disabled the laser's safety features.
You’re playing with fire
For the sake of science ;)
But isn't that machine have a safety switch for a fire ?
The S2 version of the machine does.
But this machine do not have fire safety guarantee
How much are you guys getting paid for this crap. This is number 5 so far and you guys are kicking off all the common sense - so you guys are getting paid. Time to stop this crap. How much were you coached to make smoke. This is bogus crap
