Monthly Virtual Open House with Azumi Uchitani at Japanese SALON in Bussum, The Netherlands.
In this episode, Azumi introduces her personal collection of Japanese Tea Bowls, CHAWAN 茶碗 for tea ceremony.
The style of KYOYAKI 京焼 is from Kyoto with hand-painted art and patterns. During the Edo period (the 17-19th century), the production of art and craft were flourished. Today, in Kyoto, KYOYAKI is still alive and the legacy has been kept by the artists. Like the sytle of Rinpa art, the sensitivity of flower and plants are decorated with subtle geometric patterns.
Azumi shows the work of the artist, NAGAOKA ZENSHO 長岡善昇 (1942).
Japanese SALON is a private gallery and a SALON where Azumi teaches and gives workshops on Japanese Art of Inner Peace with Tea Ceremony, Calligraphy meditation.

Thank you for sharing the Japanese arts -- especially beautiful Chawans you collected.
Your channel is a precious pearl...thanks for share such beauty
Excellent talk Azumi-San. You said you preferred Kiyoyaki over Raku tea bowls. I myself find Raku tea bowls very profound and fascinating in their simplicity. To visit the Raku family museum in Kyoto is a very special thing. Yet, much as I love Raku teabowls, maybe I think Tenmoku tea bowls are the most captivating and enchanting of all.
The enamel work is beautiful.
I look forward to more.
You bring a wealth of peace , thank you Azumi.
Welcome! My pleasure!
