Thanks for posting this review. You're literally the only person who has. And so freaking in-depth... wow! I'm knocking out projects during the Corona Lockdown. This really helps my buying decision. Stay safe and all the best to you and your family.
Thanks for this! I am making a base for a bourbon bottle lamp, and want to simulate the char of a bourbon barrel. I was going to try to burn the wood and compare it to this stain, but now I don't have to!
Oh my goodness, glad I found your video! 😊 This was extremely helpful. I just purchased that same exact charred accelerator and was very curious how it would turn out. I must say that the actual charred piece looks absolutely beautiful!! But I can’t see myself working with that torch on a console table. The accelerator is a real good method I think and will achieve the look I’m looking for with the two coats or maybe even three.
Awesome review, good job. I noticed this in the store while picking up more of the aged stain that I've used alot of. I've never tried the lacquer because I get good results with polycrylic sanding between coats that is. After watching you spray that lacquer I'm going to have to give it a try. Save me some time ha. Thanks again for a great review
The matte black and the charred wood always look good together. I've built a few things for the kitchen and the dining room with the charred finish and it never gets old for me. I'll most likely use it to build a "boho" style desk for me too
The accelerator looks faster and easier to use and yields very similar results. We just used 7 cans of this for the exposed eave boards on our house. It turned out awesome.
Did you sand before you applied the stain to the second side? I didn't see you do it in the video. I just bought 3 cans of this stuff and tried it out. Very big difference between sanded or not sanded wood. If you didn't sand it then thats why the wood turned out so light with only 1 coat. I found the difference very dramatic on the pine I tried it on. Thanks for the video though dude!
We bought this and I'm going to apply to ash wood. I like the first finish in the review, as I find the black too dark. How did you find the stain looked after sanding? I sanded and would lightly sand between. What did you do amd what cokour did you get?
I sincerely appreciate your video! Lol I bought it 🙃 with no clue how it will look, but wanted to make sure I see it in use before trying to do it myself! Because everything is getting more expensive everyday BuUuUuUt hey on fourth of July😉 hotdogs were a whole ¢16 cheaper SoOoOoOoO there's THAT! But seriously thanks for the video ✌️
I may have missed it but how long did you leave on each coat? I just bought this maybe I should do a review lol I'm applying it over a chalk paint wash. Also have absolutely no clue what I'm doing 🙃🙃 thank you for your review!
Hope it went well. I actually don't remember but at least 24 hrs before the lacquer and an hour or so between lacquer coats. How did this do over the chalk wash?

How did it hold up on outdoor exposure
@@TOBY-up4ie It looks great. We also sealed over it with a good polymerizing oil.
Awesome man thank you

Glad it was of some help.
Thank you!😁
Just what I was looking for 😬
can you use wax over this/ or have you tried >?
Never tried wax but don't see why not.
You blew the dust right into the open can!

How did this do over the chalk wash?
Why such a huge brush?
