The fact that theyve now made two exclusive Gokus with better face apps than the original figure theyre based off is an absolute travesty imo. The Og fpssj Gokus faces are horrendous in comparison. Im glad DF gave us alternatives with their version of the ssj2 Goku.
Yeah, that hair swap looks spot on with the new repainted figure. I'm bitter we lost the SS Gohan hair with this one and would of been nice if they decided to just repaint the hair into a base form one because this damaged version of Gohan did temporarily revert back to base form when Goku sacrificed himself
I like this set. If a scene is as iconic as this one it's definitely worth getting a figure of it. I was gonna pass on this but seeing it in hand makes me want it. Goku is really cool looking and a really unique part of a collection. I think goku is more popular overall but gohan is more popular in the fanbase. That head swap looks awesome!
These event exclusives are really ramping up. Before it used to just be repaints that were easy to pass on but now we are getting stuff that is so hard to pass on and even some new molding (kid gohan)

Just like you like "Ghostku" for its translucency, many of us really want your ninja figure from Rival Collectible to be clear translucent plastic as well. Really work as an army builder, cheap on your end to produce as well (I think). Fit with my Marvel Legends line. Perhaps, you should poll the fan. That is an iconic moment in Dragon Ball history, so I am all in for this set. I missed on that Gohan, so I would get it in a heart beat...if they put it on P-bandai.
I remember not being too interested in the first release because I already had the original teen Gohan figure, then later regretting it. Glad this is coming back around and that P-Bandai will be offering it on their site so I can get it eventually.

I bloody love this two-pack - certainly an iconic scene in the DBZ anime. For those not in the know, Goku, sacrificing himself for the sake of the Earth, died in the explosion after transporting Perfect Cell to King Kai’s world. Problem is, Cell did not die; Cell returned to Earth to finish off a wounded and exhausted Gohan, who achieved SSJ2. Goku is blue in this set because, dear friends, he is technically a ‘ghost’ (think Force/Spirit Ghost, if you are a Star Wars fan), thus communicating with Gohan in ‘other world.’ The iconic scene that this set is based on represents the Father and son Kamehameha wave that killed Cell. Anthony, brilliant review, mate! 👍 It was excellent! Unfortunately, I live in 🇬🇧, so I will most likely have to track this set down after-market. However, the next time I visit the States (my darling wife is American), I hope to make it to the Comic Con convention. I hear they are a jolly good time. Had to choose between preordering this set or Majin Vegeta due to both figures going online at the same time on the Chinese Tamashi store. Ended up preordering this because of your review. Both were sold out within 2 seconds lol, didn't stand a chance to preorder Majin V as well.
I like the original Gohan better overall just because I wayy prefer the hair/head. But I think you may be right with that swap being the "definitive version". And with the opposite swap the new head on the old body looks really bad. 😅 I would buy the set if I missed out on the Gohan for sure or if I was into the Force Ghost Goku gimmick, but personally doesn't do much for me. you can do that post just fine with the normal Goku if you wanted and its just not as limited in display options.
Now, I just need an activated-Godspeed Killua figure that's made the same way as this Teen Gohan. Revo Yamaguchi version of a Killua preferred, though. But I'm the beggar, choosing is out the window, with my wallet.
Given last year’s exclusive and this year’s, I’m starting to lean toward the idea that SSJ2 should be represented with shiny hair. It fixes the problem of Vegeta not ever getting a unique SSJ2 headsculpt. Of course now I want a Great Saiyaman and DB Super Trunks reissue with shiny hair to round it out.
I don’t know but I can’t help notice that we didn’t get a regular ssj hair piece. The new Gohan in that specific scene had his left hand seriously damage and that is the point of the one hand kame hame ha. What I’m saying it needed signs of damage on his left hand, even blood.

It's a cool set, but I think they could've painted a lot more of the scratches on Gohan in, I feel like it was kind of halfway done and not as good as it could be The same goes for the Awakening Super Saiyan Goku repaint that was recently released. This is just my opinion, though.

The joints standing out on Goku is kind of unfortunate, but I'm glad Tamashii had the foresight not to use translucent plastic to make the joints. People already complain enough about the figures having quality issues

The awakening Goku isn't really the same design. Many figures haven't seen an update after a special paint release. I thinks it's really just a matter of them inevitably making new figures of popular characters more frequently and trying to fund the new mold with desirable repaints for the more dedicated collectors. Last year's repaints didn't get updated versions (not announced yet anyway) so there's really no way to guess
Is the transparent Goku better in terms of joints than the regular ssj full power one? Literally used that one for spare parts and for a custom because it just was super loose and just broke

I can’t stand the difference in color between the legs and the crotch on Goku. It goes from dark blue to light blue with no fading or anything. Just a hard dark-to-light transition.
I have no interest in getting this. I would like a non-battle damaged SS2 Gohan. This set is great as a SDCC exclusive. I can't see Bandai selling more of these as a normal release. Goku > Gohan.
