@@marcelszekowski315 you could call it that too. 4/4 is also called "common time" or "simple meter" it's the most used meter type. 6/8 is a "compound meter" 7/8 is an "asymmetrical meter" as technical terminology, but you can call it "odd meter" and other words interchangeably.
@@HiFiJi I thought a syncopated note is any note that isn't on the stressed beat (effectively any not not on the one, two, three or fourth beat in 4/4 time signature)
The thing I love about 11/8 is that there are so many good ways to slice it up into smaller rhythmic phrases to achieve different feelings. In beat #3 here those 11 8th notes are subdivided into groups of 4 + 4 + 3, where that third group is cut short which propels the song forward. But you could also split 11 into a measure with 5 pulses and then one with 6 pulses, and that 6th pulse at the end makes the song feel like something that's in 5 but every other bar is one note longer (listen to the song The Tallest Man, Broadest Shoulders by Sufjan Stevens for an example of this). Changing the order of the subdivisions here (6+5) can make a song feel like it's in 6/8 with every other bar shortened to 5 (Motor Spirit by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard comes to mind). At higher tempos you can treat the whole bar like it's in "5 and a half," so a 5 count with an extra little rest (Erebus by Midgar is an example of this). 11/8 and 11/4 can feel like so many different things just based on how 11 can be divided up into different "lopsided" groups.
That 10/4 song really made me feel the Fettucini Sequence In all seriousness though, you are a f*cking good musician!!!!! 11/8 with some chopped breakbeats would straight up go in Venetian Snares territory! Especially that rhythmic modulation in the B section was pure prog fire!
Don't wanna be annoying but The line you did with a guitar in the first beat isn't actually a polyrhythmic line, it's a polymeter and I think it's the first time I've seen one in a trap beat, that was sick
Thanks to you and your vids it reminds me of how fun music making can be when your not serious about it and reminds me to go see what I can come up with myself 😊 glad I found your channel
That last beat is so beautiful, I love it! Really reminds me of Japanese bands like Jizue, Mouse on the Keys and Haisuinonasa. I could listen to that stuff for hours. Great job!
Tuplet's like 3/4 and 6/8 are traditional waltz figures and quite popular! Of course, you can "step outside" into 7/8 and etc, but a lot of people will dismiss this as going into avant-garde jazz territory. Most everyday musicians seek to make their music accessible, yes?
I have KORG Gadget for Nintendo Switch and I have a track that no matter how I work the existing bass line, it wont loop properly. The program seems stuck looping at set bars and if you dont match that timing, your track sounds all messed up. It drives me mad
Ed I'm still waitin on you actualy finishing some tracks and dropping some songs or an album - get some singers on board if you're not comfortable with singing, executive produce, compose, whatever, and show us what you can do!

I love asymmetrical meter types like 7/8, the syncopation feels amazing!
Is that what syncopation is?

11/8 is definitely very pleasing to listen to
5:03 I’m only halfway into this video and you look/seem to enjoy yourself the more you make different beats and it is just inspiring.
Thanks for showing me that I need to experiment more with time signatures! This is fire! 🔥
They’re super fun!
Man these songs are burning!! You are great!
WE NEED THE FULL VERSION OF EVERY SINGLE ONE
Usually, I don’t like the 808s that much but the 7/8 beat sounded great with
Cool attention to detail changing up your count downs to match the signature times
That's beautiful, so refreshing to see something that's not 4/4 😍

It’s really fun you should try it!

We use 7/4 a lot. I'm sure no-one notices until they try to tap along with it.
This went crazy!! Thank you Ed for these master pieces 🙏🏿 ✊🏿🙌🏿🔥🔥🔥
