Wow Thew, you outdid yourself with this one. It's a real testament to your channel that a video about Toys very few people outside the TF fandom have ever heard of turned out to be one of the most well thought out and inspirational things I've seen all year.
Autorollers, the color change water squirters on both sides, Laser Rods, Laser Cycles, and my personal favorite the Cyberjets. G2 had way more new stuff than it was given credit for.
so the Preds thing. OG BW Preds were animals because they used the organic shells as hazmat suits against Energon radiation overload. BWII didnt have this iirc, so while the Maximals scanned native wildlife, the Predacons used an ancient supercomputer to adopt forms based on local military hardware
Really, it was because BWII was a cheap filler series and consequently was, barring about two or three characters in the entire line, recycled molds. And they needed SOME justification for why half the characters were G2 and Machine Wars molds...

Your shirt is everything wonderful in the world. I got an auto roller in a massive lot of figures years ago and he was instantly a weirdo favorite from a time I couldn't remember.
These were my Transformers. Was too young to experience G1, only saw reruns but absolutely loved them. So when G2 hit store shelves I was all over it. Didn't have a lot of money as a kid, of course, but Roadblock and Dirtbag were among the first two figures I ever bought with my own money.
As far as the various gimmicks of G2 go, my favorite has to be the Go-bots. They transform into 1:64 scale cars made to work with Hot Wheels and Matchbox sets, they even had similar axle setups. One of them, High beam, was extremely similar looking to a Hot Wheels original design called Speed Blaster. Its a nice addition for anyone collecting both Transformers and Hot Wheels.
This was a blast! Thank you! I didn't actually start collecting Transformers until Beast Wars was well under way, and couldn't get any of the Japanese stuff at the time, so these videos are always welcome education. And to correct my comment in the chat: Auto LAUNCHER looks a lot like Rollout from the Armada Overload set.

That's a very G2 shirt there. Funny how, while the 90s was moving on from 80s colourfulness, in the toy world it just dug in hard.
heavily agree with your points about the forgotten bits of g2, it IS what brought ball joints into the franchise, where would we even be without them?
and how easily we forget that dreadwing is punishing, and his gatling gun is 'illin
Good stuff, man! Love the strange and obscure stuff! Lots of old fun and Interesting designs floating around out there from back in the day! ❤️😁👍🏻 love the positivity and heartfelt wisdom at the end there...I kinda needed that! 😅
Your shirt is everything wonderful in the world.
I got an auto roller in a massive lot of figures years ago and he was instantly a weirdo favorite from a time I couldn't remember.
Friggin’ AWESOME to see you do another episode, Thew! Always makes my day better- hope you’re well!
I still have mister "Fourteen Missiles" -- he was one of my favorite childhood tools (though I bought with my own allowance no less)
I'm going to go out and be my Auto-rolliest self.
These were my Transformers. Was too young to experience G1, only saw reruns but absolutely loved them. So when G2 hit store shelves I was all over it. Didn't have a lot of money as a kid, of course, but Roadblock and Dirtbag were among the first two figures I ever bought with my own money.
Yes! I know so little about G2 that it's always fun to see something that isn't a G1 recolor
How am I learning a life lesson from a Transformers toy review…from G2 no less. Only you, Thew.
PEAK. THEW. Every time I think you can't get better at this... YOU LEVEL UP.
Toy review spirals into strangly motivational semi rant. But I'm here for it.
feeling a bit crazy cause I could've sworn the ones that appeared in bwii were the construction vehicle ones. I mean, how could I forget launcher and jetter, those guys are gorgeous!
Learning that sometimes we just ought to roll with the punches is a lesson that we all need sometimes!
