So apparently I am not a Grandmaster at life: sometimes I make decisions that are not great and I end up in interesting positions. Thanks for helping me debug my life. 😂
checkmate with 0.1 second left was such an incredible move! man Nelson was lucky to find the only one correct tactical move to win the game! GG Nelson! ‼️
@@QwDragon not really, because if his opponent had blocked with the knight, then BxN premove would be mate. So it was 50/50 as there were only 2 possible moves and both had a different mate premove. Its also more likely his opponent saw the checkmate of BxN rather than g5 as the bishop was already delivering check.
If you premove with 0.1 seconds and you GIVE CHECKMATE with that, you actually win with 0.0 seconds, because mate is stronger than timeout. I once had a game like it, and it was my best game I played in 2023. It feels so good man... ❤
Nelson time pressure was hell ! AND you made a True GG....Meaning a Great Game! Thanks for keeping it honest by admitting luck was involved! OMG the opponent must of been screaming too! Thanks for sharing!
First off, Nelsi, you are a great chess player. You may not be a GM but you also may have a more fun and fulfilling career, which is arguably more important. In either case, this is a damn beautiful mate. Killer stuff man. Keep it up.
Epic finish, I would have played the double check Rg5 and gone on to lose 😅 This actually happens to me often where I’m up material and my opponent plays aggressive moves and I usually blunder somewhere and throw the game.
The beauty of it is if the guy had thought about his move for more than 3 seconds, he might have realized that was the correct move. If you are sitting there in that situation see you are getting checkmated but realize the only way you lose is if you oponent premoves, well, you should be able to figure out what his premove will be. It was still the oponents game to win even though he had a losing position.
It's an interesting meta-strategy. Taking the bishop is more natural but either one is a forced mate anyway. With 1:14 on the clock you can spend a few seconds to see that Nelson has to premove, so making the less obvious move is a good strategy.
The Knight wasn't forced to take the Bishop on f6. N-g5 was a move to block the check. Doesn't stop the checkmate, though, as Bxg5 still gets the job done. However, in this particular situation, N-g5 almost certainly gives White the win on time, which makes the premove pawn checkmate even more beautiful.
WOW! That's an amazing game! Thanks so much for sharing that win with us! 🥰 It's good to know that I'm not the only person that physically jumps out of my chair to celebrate surprising wins!
It reminds me of a game I played-featured on your channel, called ACCIDENTAL CHECKMATE. The big difference was my game was untimed, so it was missing the 007 drama.
Speaking as someone who is _bad_ at chess, accidentally getting checkmate when you thought you were just putting the opponent in check because you think you have no other option is a common occurrence. 🤣
Great ending to the game! Really nice pattern! 1. If he plays Ng5 instead of Nxf6, you lose on time, so I'm glad he didn't do that. 2. Rg1 is indeed fancy, but Rg2 is actually the same thing. And even more: you can play Rg2 instead of Bf6, threatening Bf2#, Bf6# and g5#. Remarkable, Ne4 stops all of them, but then you can still deflect the knight with Bf6+ and end with g5#, like in the game, or with g5+ and end with Bf2# (but not with Bf2+??, because of Ng3!!). Good job! Keep up the nice work you are doing! Best, Victor
What a great game! With the time to think, and knowing there's something there, I found all the moves! Not directly the mate in 5, but with pausing to think those were exactly the moves I chose. Learning so much from the channel! Thanks Nelson!
I love your love of the game! It shows especially well in this video, but often in nearly every video you do. I like how you show us your losses too, and how it hurts, but you try to learn from those mistakes! I use to watch other unnamed higher rated players doing live chess, but I am now watching your videos exclusively as of late. Keep up the great work and God bless you and your family!
Haha very nice!! I’m much more likely to discover these moments in the game review than by actually playing the moves but finding this in such dramatic style is definitely one for the cookie jar!!
Such an amazing game is unbelivable, just a quick note, for some reason we tend to act differently when we know someone is watching, this applies to cameras too, so prehaps recording this quick sessions could end up not being such a good idea since it may take away the edge you need in this time constraints
Back when I was 900 in blitz I delivered a ladder mate with 0.1 during a game I had no right winning. Despite the low level of play and the ease of the checkmate, it felt euphoric. I understand how this probably felt.
This is incredible to watch. Never had a game like this but that's mostly because I'm never on the winning side of the board haha. Congratulations to you good sir you earned this victory!!!
If I had been the other player, I would have resigned. Because resigning with .2 seconds left would be hilarious. He spent 3 seconds on that move. But Im betting he knew he was getting checkmated. He just hoped your time would run out before you found it. If I move quick, he may not get it...

😆 that's the attitude 😁
You may not be today, but with willingness to change, you can be one tomorrow
honestly a great quote. I'm gonna use that one!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
checkmate with 0.1 second left was such an incredible move! man Nelson was lucky to find the only one correct tactical move to win the game! GG Nelson! ‼️
He was also lucky that opponent didn't block with a knight, because if he did, it woudln't be enough time to make a move.
The preview says 0.01 seconds, though.

Take your victory lap, my man, that is epic! I recently won a game with 0.2 seconds and that adrenaline rush kept my spirits up for days.

not only did you win with 0.1s on the clock, you also won with an epic checkmate
Double exclam! What a finish. As a pre-move, you could always claim you saw it six moves back. Nobody would doubt you on a photo-finish like that.
Love your enthusiasm! Thanks for sharing the game. .1 seconds is absolutely wild
Checkmating with a pawn move is like getting a hole in one in golf. So rare, so satisfying.
0.06 is my best, heart was racing
I really wanna know what was his opponent's reaction. 😂
In my head, it’s a Darth Vader-style “NOOOOO!”
Something along the lines WTF
we should search his opponent and see if he is a streamer and happened to record this game.
He tells himself Chess is stupid and has nightmares. It haunts him in every game while Nelson posts the game for the world to see.
The checkmate is just WOW
Absolutely brilliant
So proud of you Nelson!!!!
😂
Awesome save, Nelson! It is indeed a beautiful checkmate! Well done in not giving up, persevering, and fighting back!!! 👏👏👏
your love for the game of chess is contagious!
The checkmate is in itself incredible beautiful
Nelson time pressure was hell ! AND you made a True GG....Meaning a Great Game! Thanks for keeping it honest by admitting luck was involved! OMG the opponent must of been screaming too! Thanks for sharing!
I'm 1250 (in rapid) and it took me like 40 seconds to find the winning tactic. It's weirdly intuitive but also counterintuitive. Brilliant game
same, i dislike how great moves are only obvious as a spectator lol
First off, Nelsi, you are a great chess player. You may not be a GM but you also may have a more fun and fulfilling career, which is arguably more important. In either case, this is a damn beautiful mate. Killer stuff man. Keep it up.
I've won a game with 0.0 on the clock before, but nothing to this level of checkmate! Well played
..., Rg2 would have been more time-efficient :D On the other hand, Ng5 would have stopped the premove leading to a White win
Ng5 loses to BxN premove checkmate. More obvious checkmate than the pawn push as the bishop is already delivering check
Sad but true, since the correct move to respond to that Ng5 blocking of the bishop check would be Bxg5#, not pawn to g5#.
When you delivered that checkmate I just couldn’t help but bust out laughing and clapping my hands.
Talk about holing a putt blind, that is incredible!!! Mikhail Tal and Bobby Fischer are looking down on you and nodding in appreciation.
Nelson, this is absolutely mind blowing!! Wow! What a way to finish off the game! 🙌 🙌 ❤
Thanks for your honesty in describing the action and what you saw at each stage, it makes rest of us feel better.
Btw you get achievement if you check mate on 0.01
Epic finish, I would have played the double check Rg5 and gone on to lose 😅
This actually happens to me often where I’m up material and my opponent plays aggressive moves and I usually blunder somewhere and throw the game.
Same thought(s) 🙂
Same here, I was thinking double check
Imagine if opponent blocked the check with Ng5 and Nelson lost on time 💀

@@robertwoodruff8491 bishop tahes could've been premoved too, so seems like choosing a correct move is just a luck.

imagine if nelson had premoved BxN checkmate instead of the pawn push. 50/50 chance
Exactly. It’s check mate either way, but he had to pre-move the right piece.
That was great instinct and a beautiful mate.
Fin Fact : g5# is a Rosen trophy
Awesome, Nelson! We live for moments like these!
Games like this is why I love Chess
Yes!! Nice!! I promise your opponent jumped up and screamed even louder..

I really suck at this game but recently had a .1 second left, very exciting. Great video.
It reminds me of a game I played-featured on your channel, called ACCIDENTAL CHECKMATE. The big difference was my game was untimed, so it was missing the 007 drama.
Imagine your opponent would have played Ng5 in the end and you would have lost on time because of it 😂
imagine if his opponent did that he instead had premoved BxN checkmate. 2 possible moves, 2 different premove checkmates 50/50 chance.
@@Calibrownsfan Yup I am aware of that. It was pure luck 😅
Awesome, well played!
Great one. Hope to see a puzzle with this motiv in mind. It is a real picture moment. Beautiful.
I think a movie should be made about this! Well done, Nelson!
That is the coolest checkmate I have seen in a long time! Congratulations, Nelson! Sometimes good instincts make up for less than great decisions!
Rg2 does the same thing but is theoretically better because it does not expose your rook to capture (2 squares diagonal from knight) Incredible finish
The opponent couldn’t have captured the rook anyway they were in check
Incredible stuff, Nelson! Great find!
Amazing stuff Nelson !!
I'm glad you celebrate this checkmate as you should!

Prettiest checkmate I've seen in a while. Very good stuff!
What a great game!

Lionking will surely remember that game
You should receive an award for last second checkmate. Wow
Absolutely flabbergasted. That is such an incredible checkmate!
LOL that’s an amazing finish

Nice win Nelson! Always great to come from behind
Once in a lifetime mate. Congrats.
This is the latest possible checkmate in a time-control game.
Haha very nice!! I’m much more likely to discover these moments in the game review than by actually playing the moves but finding this in such dramatic style is definitely one for the cookie jar!!

Winning with 0.1 second remaining is madness, congrats!
Best checkmates are unintentional checkmates
Omg, I saw the mate not sure I was fast enough, but I bursted laughing when you showed the 0.1 second missing, well done.
This was out of the world!
Absolutely incredible!!
Just when you think you’ve seen it all in chess you see more that’s why I like the game so much
What a game! What an ending!! Thanks for sharing this one.
The clickbait face and title was worthy, this was a great game and ending. You never gave a chance to your opponent's 2 rooks.
Amazing win! I’ve had times in bullet chess where I’ve won with less than a second left but this win is on another level.
Amazing move! Never understimate intuition.
Love this! You trusted your intuition and won. Obi Wan: "Use the Force, Nelson."
That will probably be the greatest checkmate of your life, just because of the circumstances under which it occurred.
I am sitting here in awe of this ending. Mind blown. Amazing!
The only channel that doesn't clickbait even when using clickbait title and thumbnail
That was an epic win, totally B0.1sterous
The checkmate itself looks so crazy
WOW This is incredible. I tried to find the winning move but not in 14.6 seconds and still couldn't see it. This makes Chess such fun! Well Done!
That is just amazing.
Kind of makes up for that game where you could have checkmated with the Knight if they promoted to a Queen. 😊
g5 mate, Eric Rosen would be proud
This is incredible to watch. Never had a game like this but that's mostly because I'm never on the winning side of the board haha. Congratulations to you good sir you earned this victory!!!
wow, my heart would have been pounding out of my chest. great instincts sir!

there were 2 possible defenses and 2 different premove checkmates. 50/50 chance
What a nail-biter! Congratulations, Nelson, on a beautiful mate pulled from thin air, in time trouble no less! Chapeau.
Let's go Nelson!!!
One of those puzzle positions where you think that it was never a real position 😅
Amazing game Nelson.. !!
I would have loved a "live on tape" of that match.
Sacrificing almost all of your pieces to get the checkmate. Very Fischer-like.
Good stuff! Go celebrate 🥂🎆
An amazing checkmate in a split second that was awesome! I didn’t get it, such a great pattern to know
ya love it when those moments happen. that was a dope checkmate, at the buzzer! haha
Great game. You always play those dubious sacrifices but you keep getting away with it, which makes your play so interesting.
Very nice example of a rook on a line thats not even half open (not by your pawn - which is a must for a file to be half open).
hey man could you bring back those chess quizzes where you gave 3 positions and showed top moves by players in different ranges? miss those a lot,
Beautiful Checkmate...
I recently lost a game by about that amount of time. Congrats on a beautiful win.
We miss you playing titled Tuesdays Nelson!😅
