I am running this from over a month and continuously monitoring all network traffic on my ubiquiti router, Never saw any suspicious network activity, it just communicates to the mi camera servers which the camera uses so network queries are same from this software or any Mi camera.
Make sure that you have linked your mobile number with the same email account of your mi account. Also, try using a VPN or a different internet connection, it might be your ISP blocking login page because of the Xiaomi china domain.

This software only works in China India and Singapore. Even if you change the code to your country it will not work. And many do not know what the code of their country is. Not only do you need to change the code in the Config folder. But there is another folder called country. It also needs to change some details

There r only a few servers available. Use Singapore. Open notepad and type the following { "language": 1, "machineCode": "sg" } Save the file as config.dll in the same directory of the software. Mihome will log u out n log u back in to the sg server. Try setting up your camera again. After that you can run the program on your PC and u should be able to find the camera. Hope this helps!

i think its outdated you need to click on button above to download not the windows. it worked thanks but I wish it had features like motion signs similar to the app and can download with highest quality instead of recording manually (it needs to have dual options actually). for those app users, make sure first to have similar password login ex. if logged in by gmail and your password is not working, you need to change your password after verifying in the mobile app then use same email and password in the pc. Q.does anyone knows where are the recorded files saved? A. it saves by default on desktop, you can manage it from your profile.
