The shocking fact is that 91.1% of F&O traders are making losses, an increase from 89% in the previous report. That means out of 96 lakh traders, around 73 lakh are losing money, with an average loss of ₹1.2 lakh per person in FY24.
Over the last three financial years (FY22 to FY24), traders have lost a staggering ₹1.81 lakh crore, with ₹75,000 crore in losses reported in FY24 alone. Only a small percentage of traders-just 1%-earned more than ₹1 lakh in profit, while many others faced massive losses.

11.77 lakh loss in 2.5 months. First loss was just ₹2.5 lakh. Lost the entire capital just to recover this loss. Learnt my lesson hard way. Was doing exceptionally well in swing trading. Gonna continue my journey in equities only.

FNO traders are not in loss because of over trade or play like gambling, they are in loss because of government takes unnecessary taxes,example in 2023, my total loss is 30000 rupees, out of which 28000 is only brokerage and government tax.

How to trust SEBI data blindly?
SEBI is not at all a transparent organisation. How do we know the data that is published is just to justify their new measures that favour the institutions and remove retail players from FnO market?
If SEBI was so worried about losses of retailers why doesn’t it do anything about freak trades, injections, premium pricing manipulations etc. to create a fair level playing field?
