    Silly Question, why don't they trim the hololenses casing or take it of completely to make it fit.

    • @hacksmith
      @hacksmith 7 років тому +28

      $3000 piece of hardware ;-) They only had a few weeks to do this project after school so... if they accidentally broke anything they would be in deep water!

    Hey guys! We hope you enjoyed this video - How do you think the Iron Man Helmet is coming along?

    • @juliank1294
      @juliank1294 7 років тому +1

      I think we have a real dilemma. The helmet looks to big for a persons head

    • @loreaver3882

      well there should be a fat iron man suit

    • @Megagodowar
      @Megagodowar 7 років тому +1

      Mitch Smiles I wouldn't worry about that. the moment they get a *LEGIT* ironman-esque helmet working, there is *DEFINITELY* going to be someone else out there on there way to making something that supports the weight, and tech of the helmet

    Why can't you just take apart the hololens and rearrange the parts so it will fit

    • @MrPwng232
      @MrPwng232 7 років тому +22

      i asked myself the same thing. I'm not sure, but I think that it's because the school doesn't own the hololens, but rather it's being lent to them and they're not allowed to do that per some kind of agreement.

    • @jonathanmorgan5846
      @jonathanmorgan5846 7 років тому +1

      MrPwng232 I guess so

    • @jonathanmorgan5846
      @jonathanmorgan5846 7 років тому +3

      MrPwng232 but I can't help but feel or notice the fact that they could just take it apart and rearrange parts, it would probably be finished by now if they did I because that seems to be the biggest problem

    • @MrPwng232
      @MrPwng232 7 років тому +7

      I totally agree. this would help avoid so many issues that they're currently facing, it also seems like it would be a valuable learning experience, you would learn not only about the software, but the hardware as well.

    This is honestly my favorite series on youtube right now, and if you make a completely usable version, you could make a company and mass produce them, and make so much money out of it. This is like virtual reality mixed with depth perception and the holographic screen. Truly amazing.

    man videos are too short, it is not like there is not much content, but recorded part is not enough. every week there should be like 40 minutes of recording but anyway it is new and must be supported at full scale. thumbs up

  • @rapidnews2k24
    @rapidnews2k24 7 років тому +2

    hey Tony stark actually had his main power in his chest isn't it, so u guys can separately use a power supply instead of using it on the helmet it self. therefore u guys may have more room for other circuits. Hope u guys take this as an advantage....

    • @jonathanmorgan5846
      @jonathanmorgan5846 7 років тому +1

      Sampath Gamage where else would it go?

    • @rapidnews2k24
      @rapidnews2k24 7 років тому +2

      you guys can wire it up to external power source such as a power bank. just bring a wire out of the helmet so it can be connected to power source. I know that it would be ugly but I think it would be worth and also I think it would be more professional if you guys use some magnetism to lift the front part of the helmet. so it can be removed as it is in the film. Or else use the circled parts that are in near the ear to put a flat motor and bring a small pease of metal or plastic to fit the front part of the helmet. where then it can be lifted. figure out a way to pop out the front peace and then lift up. I think it would be much easier if you guys divide the helmet in to parts and then assembly it. You guys must make sure that you guys disassemble the holographic goggles and fit it's circuitry to helmet without the plastic parts.

    • @jonathanmorgan5846
      @jonathanmorgan5846 7 років тому +1

      Sampath Gamage yes dude my thoughts exactly but people have told me the lens cost 3000 and they had a very limited amount of time so they didn't think it was work it

    • @jonathanmorgan5846
      @jonathanmorgan5846 7 років тому +1

      Sampath Gamage the thing is since they want the whole hololens in there when the faceplate goes up you'll have the lens on still which won't look good in my opinion

  • @SmegFriedRice69420
    @SmegFriedRice69420 6 років тому

    Why can't you make your own headband or disregard the holo lense headband all together? I'm a mechE
    have you considered hingeing the faceplate over the crown of the skull vs. the temples, utilizing routed tension cable and a micro servo?
    I've designed a similar system on paper for the fallout 4 power armor exoskeleton. Using an Udoo Neo board for the Pipboy interface.
    I'm also adept at 3d printing tolerances and design.
    Currently working on a confidential Uni project but would LOVE to contribute in any way (solid modeling, electrical routing, power corrections) that I can,
    Please PM me. This kind of stuff is my passion! I've been combining my engineering knowledge with cosplay for 5+ years.

    Classic mistake, though, of trying to build around the device. Should have taken it apart where they could so they could figure out a more suitable way to channel all the inner workings into the helmet instead.

  • @thomasclifton3456
    @thomasclifton3456 6 років тому

    Why don't you disassemble the holo-emitter headset and incorporate into the helmet's normal dimensions? You can install the holo components by creating an inner shell and possibly making the outer shell a 1/4 inch larger than the inner shell. The components would go between the two shells. with the lens being where the visor is. it would be even better to place a camera in the helmet and have the image that the camera picks up display on the visor with the eye-pieces being the location where the targeting unit displays. Another idea would be to remove as much of the holo-emitter so it would allow you take up less space inside the helmet.

    Not to be arrogant. But fly me out there. And the project will be over. 3D print a scale model helmet (prop), disassemble the hololense, and use a dremel to remove the maximum amount of plastic out of the way. Hinge the mask. Epoxy the lense to the face mask, place the battery pack in a concealed. Watertight case and run a wire down your body into a pocket.
