With hotels and stuff you’d easily spend at least 5k people. I’ve gone, Switzerland by far is the most expensive place I’ve visited. If you really love mountains, go but if you don’t appreciate natures beauty take your 5k and got to Japan for two weeks lol
Agree, though Japan is said to be the most expensive city, there are ways to make it cheaper, just research. Been to Japan flying into Narita Int'l Airport, & one time at Haneda Airport and visited from Tokyo daytrips to Nikko; Yokohama; Kamakura, Enoshima Island; Kawaguchiko; Shizuoka (Mt Fuji is very near the bus route from Tokyo even went around it in full view compared to view from Shinkansen; Osaka; Kobe; Kyoto; Nara but not in one trip but by several return trips. Never used Shinkansen just Express trains. For Osaka, Kobe etc. I flew in Kansai Int'l Airport for Osaka Hub. The JR Pass is useful if you go to very far prefectures, but expensive costing fare I researched for cheaper transportation that are equally fast.
As a local. Spending 3 days in the Jungfrau region isn't a good idea. 1. This region is crazy expensive, everything there costs a lot more than everywhere else in switzerland. 2. It's overcrowded. You'd rather travel to more quiet places as you get a view just as good while being alone.
Tipp for those wo want to save: Buy your food at Migros, Coop, Aldi or Lidl, and eat somwhere outdoors. This is going to save you a lot. Also, Hotels are very expensive. If you want to save, take a Tent and go camping, it's a great experience :)
ahahahhaha its the tourist traps that get you... Do not buy the half fare card, put the extra money ontop and buy the Swiss Pass. This gives you free access to all boats, bus and train. Free pass to mountains Rigi, Stanserhorn, Stoos, and 50% on all other mountains, plus access to over 500 museums. They have family versions of this pass (with kids up to 16 years old) Generally the food is not so expensive, stay away from all that central tourist traps, the best food are where the locals go. Not the fancy restaurant. The things that will really hurt your wallet in Switzerland are the excursions, all the mountain stuff. If you find yourself in Switzerland in the summer you should know that the Rhine river starts in Switzerland and there is actually a half day or full day kayaking excursion, excellent scenery, you get a great feel for Switzerland doing this.
Bruh, Switzerland is doable. Ppl say it’s expensive but they’re out eating lavish dinners, lodging in luxury hotels, participating in costly activities. Then they go in peak season to top it off. Of course you’re gonna cry brokie broke.
Brother if you want to eat McDonalds and look at some mountains go to colorado. If you actually want to experience the culture it’s not cheap. Just because people don’t like paying more than they should for stuff doesn’t mean they’re poor lmao.
@@Rodgemicelez depends which part of the U.S. you go to big dawg. I can certainly tell you where I’m from isn’t anywhere near those costs. It’s also not nearly as beautiful as Switzerland. It’s a trade-off.
For me it was: Plane ticket: 260,36€ only one way. 2 nights studio for me alone: 200€ Bus ticket from zurikh to grindelwald and interleuken+ the train to join the bus again : 104€ 18€ max for train from aeroport to studio and for my last day in the city. I still have to pay for the téléphérique and food. To go back i took a bus ticket for 34€ 9 hours.
This also doesn't include plane tickets, which were $7,000usd for two people in July 😵💫 we spent almost $10,000 in total. But that's also peak tourist season so going outside of that time could have saved a few hundred bucks.
Ever visited Gilgit Baltistan or Swat in Pakistan, even neelum Valley or Azad Kashmir or Chitral ? They are way beautiful and so much cheaper. Google these places to get a view yourself
@@blitzhimmelblau but it still is not an all inclusive holiday though....all inclusive is you pay a set fee for the hotel and then all food and drink etc is included! This holiday is NOT AI, in the slightest
Going to Italy and Switzerland from America for about 17 days. I haven’t even left yet and I’ve already spent about 12k. Flight was just under 5800 and the rest is hotels and activities booked. Thinking I’ll spend another 3-5k more while there. Can’t speak for everyone else but that’s what it’s costing us. (2 people)
Where are you flying from in the US? I've visited US several times and never spent more than $1200pp on a return flight, though I'm usually flexible with dates to minimise the airfare.
I'm not into extreme sports, accom reasonable costing & paid before I arrived because the credit card already became due, train tickets purchased in advance so lesser costing, not into gourmet eating nor fondue, don't drink, more into supermarket and not high-end resto, so lots of savings but still did see what I wanted. 👍
My family 3 people never can spend this amount when we travel which is I want to but never happen 😅 , just the hotel for 10 days already 8,000 . We alway broke after vacation . 14 days in switzerland and France cost us around 20, 000 .😅
As a Swiss: Summertime, best from July to September. Sometimes October is fine as well. November and December are usually bad. January, February, March, maybe April for Skiing and Winter activites. May and June are mostly bad as well, but if you are lucky, might also be good.
There is no way activities cost $1,200+. I mean you could pay a bit more (~$600 for two people for 4 days or more for 7 days) to buy the full pass and ger free access to almost all museums, attractions and transportation services.
Depending on how much you are using the train on a day :) if you stay longer at one place, half fare might be cheaper. If you are using it every day, probably the swiss travel pass.
You can do it way cheaper. If you dont go out everywhere and save a bit on activities. You can go up into the mountains for fairly cheap if you dont go, where every tourist goes.

It’s ABSOLUTELY worth the cost of visiting. Switzerland is unlike anywhere in the world
Going to Switzerland next week and we already spent $5,700 for flights, hotels and train pass for 8 days for anyone wondering.
Thanks for sharing!! I think staying in campsites and already having our van for transportation really cuts costs
